Chapter 401 Wendy's Valentine's Day Date
Cynthia angrily said, "I don't need you to lecture me! Let me ask you, do you have a marriage certificate with Alexander? Did Samantha agree? Looking at you, it seems like you had sex with Alexander first and then clung to him!"
Lillian's expression immediately darkened, and she said coldly, "Cynthia if you don't know how to be polite, let me teach you!"
Leah furiously said, "Cynthia, what do you know? Alexander and Lillian are legally married! They have a registered marriage! They even have children. Do you think my mom agreed or not? You like Alexander, but has he ever looked at you? Stop embarrassing yourself here!"
Hearing that they already had children, Cynthia became even more furious, "So what if I like Alexander? If she can be with him, why can't I?"
"Why don't you ask Alexander and see if he'll marry you?" Lillian said, looking at her speechlessly.
Alexander and his father were chatting in a less crowded area.
"How are the two kids doing?" Ethan asked, concerned about William and Henry.
Alexander smiled and said, "They're doing great, learning lots of little tricks that make them adorable."
Ethan thought of his grandsons and smiled too, saying, "Beatrice hasn't been feeling well lately, so I've been staying home with her every day. Blake is managing the jewelry store very well. I'm quite content here."
Alexander smirked inwardly, shook his champagne glass, and said nothing.
"I heard from Leah that your mother hasn't been well recently. Have you gone to see her?"
"The company has been extremely busy lately, and Lily has her things to do. We haven't had the time to go back. What's wrong with Mom?"
"Headaches," Ethan said, glancing at his son without showing much emotion. "We didn't have a family reunion this Christmas."
Alexander remained expressionless and silent.
Seeing Alexander not respond, Ethan sighed heavily, "Your mother still hasn't agreed to the divorce."
Alexander took a sip of his drink, "Dad, let me say something you won't like. Beatrice has been with you for over thirty years without any status. Just leave it as it is."
A flash of guilt crossed Ethan's face, "Precisely because of that, I feel guilty towards Beatrice. Your mother and I have no feelings left. We should get a divorce."
"You also owe my mom," Alexander said flatly. "If you divorce my mom, it involves too many things. You'd better not."
Ethan looked deeply at his son, realizing it was futile to ask him to mediate. He had always stayed out of their affairs. He had mentioned it to Leah before, but she was also helpless.
Cynthia stormed over, grabbed Alexander's arm, and demanded, "Alexander, can I be your wife? I'm much better than the one you have now!"
Alexander's eyes were filled with surprise and anger. He shook off her arm and snapped, "Are you out of your mind?"
"What's wrong? How am I not better than Lillian? Besides, Samantha promised me before that I would be your wife! Have you forgotten?" Cynthia said, hands on her hips.
"Whoever promised you, go find them!" Alexander said angrily, turning to leave.
He found Lillian, sat down, and asked, "What did Cynthia say to you? Ignore her!"
Lillian sarcastically asked, "Did Cynthia finish talking to you? Did you agree to let her be your wife?"
Alexander pulled her close, not caring that Leah was nearby, and coaxed with a smile, "Lillian, do you believe what she says? Don't get mad at someone like her; it's not worth it."
"I wonder what gives her that confidence." Lillian tapped his forehead and said fiercely, "Everywhere you go, there's a woman who likes you! It's infuriating!"
"Lillian, don't blame Alexander. It's Valentine's Day today. Where are you two going after this?" Leah asked.
Lillian said, "We'll go home. The kids always look for me, and I have to put them to bed at night."
Leah said to Alexander, "If you have nothing to do tonight, can I borrow Kevin? I have a party, and everyone is bringing their boyfriends. It would be embarrassing to go alone."
Alexander glared at her and said coldly, "No! Go home with Dad later. Don't go out late at night."
Leah looked to Lillian for help.
"Don't call Lillian; it won't help," Alexander said sternly. "Do I need to make it clear that I don't approve of you and Kevin? Kevin doesn't like you."
"That's because I haven't had a chance to pursue him. But if I did, he would fall in love with me," Leah said stubbornly, raising her chin arrogantly.
"There's no chance!" Alexander crushed her hopes directly.
Lillian gently kicked Leah under the table, signaling her to stop talking, and said to Alexander, "Stop chatting with us and go socialize."
Alexander gave Leah a warning look and got up to leave.
Leah looked distressed.
Lillian consoled her, "Alexander is doing this for your good."
"Lillian, please help me. I like Kevin, just like you like Alexander," Leah said tearfully, looking pitiful.
Lillian looked at Leah, who was usually proud, now acting coy for the sake of love.
"How can I help you? Let me think about it when I get home and ask Alexander's opinion," Lillian said soothingly.
Valentine's Day, with flowers and couples everywhere, filled the air with the holiday spirit.
Wendy was dining in such a luxurious restaurant for the first time. Aaron had booked the entire place for the evening. The table was set with exquisite dishes, a violinist played nearby, and the person she liked was right in front of her.
"Wendy, do you like it here?" Aaron asked with a gentle smile.
Wendy nodded slightly, "Aaron, thank you for bringing me here."
"No need to thank me. You're my girlfriend; it's what I should do." Aaron handed her the cut steak and said, "How have you felt about our time together?"
Wendy said without hesitation, "It's been pretty good."
It had been. Aaron had returned to the film set recently, but he called her every morning and evening, reminding her to eat well and rest. He even sent her flowers via courier. He told her about his daily activities. Today, he had been filming on set during the day and flew back in the evening to have dinner with her.
