Chapter 212 Friends Reunion
They were shooting the breeze before Angela got down to check on Lillian.
"Been popping any supplements lately?" Angela asked after a bit.
Lillian nodded. "Yeah, when I crashed at Sinclair Villa for a week, Grandma had a doc prescribe some. Something wrong with 'em?"
Angela shook her head. "Nah, nothing major. The little one in there is doing just fine."
Lillian let out a sigh of relief. "So, I can ditch those supplements? I still got some left from Sinclair Villa."
"Yeah, hold off on those. I'll hook you up with something new. If it works, we'll roll with it," Angela said, tapping away on her phone to write a new prescription.
When Kelly brought over some fruit, Lillian told her, "Hey Kelly, I'm off the Sinclair Villa supplements. Angela's got me on new stuff."
Kelly nodded and whispered, "Got it."
Angela handed the prescription to Lillian. "Grab these from the pharmacy."
"Will do!" Lillian snapped a pic of the prescription and sent it to Alexander, then turned to Angela. "You should stay for dinner. Wendy's coming over after work."
Angela raised an eyebrow. "I heard Caspian called off his engagement. Think he'll bug Wendy?"
"Who told you?" Lillian asked, curious. "Couldn't have been Wendy, right?"
Angela rolled her eyes. "Who else but Tom? He blows up my phone every day. He wasn't like this before. Why'd he turn into such a pest after confessing his feelings?"
"Maybe he's just letting out years of bottled-up feelings? Or he got used to being upfront after living abroad. He even asked me for help the other day, but I shut him down," Lillian said.
"Whatever, I don't wanna talk about him. Let's switch topics," Angela said, dodging the subject.
Around six, Alexander rolled in with Luke, and right behind them were Wendy, Theodore, and Caspian.
Lillian looked surprised. "How'd you all end up coming together?"
Wendy shrugged. "Ran into Mr. Sinclair at the gate, so I tagged along."
Theodore handed Lillian a bouquet. "Alexander told me the good news. Congrats, Lillian."
"Thanks, Mr. Wellington." Lillian beamed, taking the flowers.
Theodore smiled and gave Angela a nod.
Caspian quipped, "Mr. Wellington sure knows how to charm the ladies. I didn't bring anything and now I look bad."
Lillian laughed. "Mr. Wade, it's fine."
After some more chit-chat, Gina popped in. "Mr. Sinclair, dinner's ready."
"Alright, let's eat and chat," Alexander said, leading everyone to the dining room.
Luke wasn't feeling the group dinner vibe and wanted to eat upstairs with Oscar. Lillian didn't mind and asked Gina to take the food up.
"How's Oscar doing since he got back?" Angela asked. "He shouldn't be left alone."
"He's taking his meds on time and doing okay. Melvin's with him every day, and we don't let him sleep alone at night," Lillian replied.
It was Wendy's first time in such a swanky house. She looked around, a bit envious. "This place is amazing! Lillian, you're so lucky!"
Angela teased, "Wendy, you could totally score a crib like this too. Caspian's right here. Aren't you two an item? Hit him up for a house."
Wendy pouted. "Angela, you're such a pain. You think I'm that shallow? I've already set things straight with Caspian. He won't bug me anymore, and I'm not dating him just for a house!"
"Good on you. Angela and I were worried," Lillian said.
Angela grinned at Wendy's serious face. "Wendy, you're just too cute."
Dinner was pretty chill, just some regular dishes and a few special ones for Lillian. Gina made sure nothing went to waste.
After dinner, Lillian and her crew headed to her room for some private chat. The rest hung out in the living room, shooting the breeze.
"Theodore, what's up with you being so free today? You came over with Caspian," Alexander asked.
Theodore shrugged. "I was still at the office when he showed up. He dragged me along 'cause he was bored. We hadn't eaten, so he suggested coming here."
Caspian slumped on the sofa, looking all dramatic. "Theodore, can I crash at your place tonight? My house is too big and lonely."
Theodore shook his head. "I gotta head back to the office later. No idea when I'll be home."
Caspian turned to Alexander with puppy eyes. "Alexander, can I stay with you?"
"No way," Alexander shot back, glaring.
Caspian buried his face in a pillow and whined, "I miss Evelyn. Breaking off the engagement just made it worse."
"You'll get over it," Theodore said. "Time heals, man."
Caspian lifted his head and asked, "So, have you forgotten the woman you hooked up with?"
Theodore snapped, "We're talking about you. Why drag me into this?"
He checked his watch. "I gotta bounce. My time's money. Back to the office."
After Theodore left, Lillian and her friends came out of the room, and Angela, who had some stuff to do, also took off. Wendy, after a lot of convincing from Lillian, stayed and went back to her room with her.
Outside the community, Theodore was waiting for a cab at the corner. Angela spotted him as she drove out and was surprised he didn't have his car.
"Mr. Wellington," she called, pulling up in front of him. "Hop in. I'll give you a lift."
Theodore saw Angela and didn't want to be a bother. "There are plenty of cabs around here."
"But you still gotta wait. Come on, don't be shy." She opened the car door for him.
Seeing her insistence, Theodore got in.
Angela asked, "Where to?"
"Take me to my law firm on Central Avenue. You can drop me at the nearest subway station," Theodore replied.
"Funny enough, I'm heading to Central Avenue too. It's on my way." Angela flashed him a smile.
Her smile was like sunshine, melting away any resistance. Theodore, unsurprised, couldn't help but smile back.
"Thanks, Dr. Turner," Theodore said.
"Don't mention it, Mr. Wellington," Angela replied.
They playfully used formal titles and then shared a knowing smile.
