Chapter 354 Let's Be Honest!

Patrick and Jessica were just about to have lunch when they saw Wendy return, looking quite ill. They quickly and anxiously asked, "Are you feeling unwell?"

Angela said, "Wendy has a fever caused by a throat infection. Don’t worry, I took her to get an injection this morning. She just needs to have two more treatments, and she'll be fine."

"Thank you, Angela," Jessica said gratefully, holding her hand.

"I'll be leaving now. Make sure Wendy drinks plenty of warm water." Angela said before leaving.

Wendy lay on the bed, weakly glanced at Patrick, and said with difficulty, "Dad, I'm fine. You don't need to stay with me. I'm going to take a nap."

Feeling sorry for her, Patrick stroked Wendy's hair. "You got sick after moving out. Are you dealing with something stressful? Trouble at work, or did you fight with Caspian? If there's anything, don't keep it bottled up. If you can't talk to your mother, talk to me."

Upon hearing this, Wendy's mouth quivered as she tried hard to hold back her tears but they silently fell nonetheless. Being ill had already made her vulnerable, and Patrick's question only made it harder for her not to cry.

"Did Caspian bully you?" Patrick asked angrily.

Wendy shook her head. "No."

Jessica brought a cup of warm water and said, "Drink some water first."

Wendy sat up and took a sip.

Also feeling sorry for her, Jessica scolded, "I was against you moving out in the first place, and you insisted you could take care of yourself. Is this how you take care of yourself?"

Wendy closed her eyes, not wanting to see Jessica's aggressive demeanor.

Patrick tried to ease the tension, saying, "She's unwell, so stop saying these things. Illness is inevitable; why blame her?" With that, he then stood up and gently ushered Jessica out of the room, adding, "Wendy needs to rest. Let's not disturb her."

Being pushed out, Jessica said unhappily, "I'm just worried about her. She must be upset about something, either work or a relationship."

Patrick nodded and said, "I asked Wendy earlier, but she didn't say and I could tell from her eyes that it's probably not work-related. It's likely about Caspian. She cried earlier and looked very upset."

Jessica's expression changed instantly. "I knew it!" she said angrily and stormed back into her room.

After taking a nap, Wendy felt a bit better. She got out of bed to go to the bathroom. As she came out slowly with her head down, Molly barked at her. She looked up weakly and was surprised to see Caspian sitting on the couch. "Why are you here?" she asked with a sore throat.

Caspian said, "Your mother called me." Then he walked over and asked with concern, "Are you okay?"

Wendy didn't want to see Caspian right now, feeling both awkward and sad. She quickly grabbed his coat, stuffed it into his arms, and promptly began pushing him out the door.

Seeing Caspian being pushed out, Molly barked anxiously, which brought Jessica out.

"What are you doing?" Jessica asked coldly.

"Mom," Wendy said, her face flushing with anxiety, not knowing how to explain.

Holding his coat, Caspian knew Wendy didn't want to see him and said to Jessica, "I see Wendy is fine, so I'll leave now."

Wendy stood there, glancing at him sideways.

Jessica said, "Why are you leaving? I have something to ask you. Come here!"

"Mom, what do you want to ask him?" Wendy asked, enduring her sore throat.

Jessica shot a meaningful glance towards the sofa, signaling for them to sit over there. She sat across from them and said to Wendy, "Wendy, your father and I didn't agree with you dating Caspian, but you insisted, so we didn't stop you. But I don't want to see you both suffering in this relationship. If you can continue, then do so. If not, break up early. Don't torture yourselves!"

Wendy felt that Jessica's words were highly ironic. But then she thought it was a good opportunity to "break up" officially with Caspian.

Before Wendy could speak, Jessica started criticizing Caspian, "Caspian, I don't care about your background. If you're dating Wendy, you should treat her well. Wendy must have been wronged by you. Did you make her upset? Otherwise, why would she get sick out of nowhere?"

Caspian hung his head low, accepting the criticism. "Mrs. Lewis, it's all my fault."

Jessica waved her hand and said, "I don't care what you argued about. As an elder, I might not understand. But Caspian, as a man, you should be tolerant. You can't argue over minor things. How can I trust Wendy with you if you're like this?"

Holding Jessica's hand, Wendy was extremely anxious. "Mom, I've broken up with him!"

Caspian glanced at her and was about to speak when Patrick came over with a cup of water. He said to Jessica, "Jessica, speak nicely. Caspian is not your student."

He handed the cup to Wendy and said slowly, "If you keep talking like this, they'll break up even if they weren't fighting. Couples arguing is normal. As elders, we shouldn't interfere." With that, he then said to Caspian, "Wendy is somewhat willful, which isn't ideal. But as her boyfriend, you should be more tolerant. Sometimes, a little coaxing can solve the problem. I also understand that affluent individuals like you tend to be a bit capricious, and therein lies the problem."

"Dad," Wendy said, frustrated with her sore throat, unable to explain and letting them make wild guesses. She took out her phone and sent a Facebook message to Caspian: [Let's just be honest.]

The phone in Caspian's pocket buzzed twice. He saw Wendy waving her phone at him but didn't move, continuing to listen to Patrick's advice.

"We didn't agree with you being together, so you should cherish this relationship even more. I don't know if you're active or passive in this relationship, but Wendy is stubborn and insists on being with you. I don't want you to look down on Wendy because of this. Love is mutual, and only then can the relationship deepen." Patrick continued.

"Mr. Lewis, you're right," Caspian said.

Jessica, crossing her arms, said, "If you have something to say, speak up. I don't approve of your relationship. If you think you're not suitable, then break up and don't waste each other's time. If you're together, get along well, and don't make us worry!"

Wendy felt like she was about to faint, cursing inwardly, 'I didn't say anything, so why do Mom and Dad think it is a relationship problem? Weren't you against our relationship? Why are you now trying to reconcile us? And Caspian, why are you playing dumb now? Acting all remorseful, do you want me to be grateful to you?'
