Chapter 289 I Want to Tell You Something
Blake looked at Shae's confident appearance and couldn't help but feel puzzled, along with a deep sense of frustration. Even a woman rejected by Alexander didn't like him. Was he inferior to Alexander? What was so great about Alexander anyway? The more Blake thought about it, the angrier he became, his heart filled with resentment.
Shae noticed Blake's unusual behavior and gently persuaded him, "Blake, don't be like this. It makes me feel guilty. You're a great guy, and you'll find a girl you like who likes you too in the future."
Blake lowered his head, cutting his steak, and let out a cold laugh, "Shae, you don't need to say these things to comfort me. I don't know what method you're planning to use to make Alexander accept you, but I must remind you, that there will be no good outcome from ruining someone else's marriage. Why not be with me instead?"
"Blake, I'm not destroying anyone's marriage," Shae said seriously, gritting her teeth. "I'm taking back everything that belongs to me!"
Blake looked at her in shock. The usually gentle person now seemed to be holding something back, her face full of indignation!
As they left the restaurant, Blake said to her, "Shae, I won't say much more. Take care of yourself. If you change your mind, you can come back to me."
Shae smiled, "Blake, thank you for liking me. If there's nothing else, I'll head back to the store."
She drove back to the store and parked in front of it. Instead of getting out immediately, she sat in the car, lost in thought for a while. Previously, Ethan had used his connections to stop the online slander against Blake and clear his name. As a result, the jewelry store's business gradually improved.
"This should all come to an end," Shae said softly, a wicked smile forming on her lips.
She took out her phone, found Alexander's number, and dialed it. It took a long time for the call to be answered.
"What is it?" His voice came through faintly.
Hearing his voice, Shae's heart raced with excitement.
"Alexander, I hope I'm not disturbing you by calling suddenly. Is it convenient for you to talk now?" Shae asked softly.
Alexander was in the kitchen, making something delicious for Lillian. He put the phone on speaker and said, "What's up?"
"Nothing major," she laughed, mimicking Amy's tone, and asked, "Alexander, do you have any plans for the weekend?"
Alexander's hand paused, and he replied with displeasure, "Shae, don't imitate Amy. What do you want?"
Shae giggled, "Do I sound like Amy? Your tone even changed."
Alexander put down what he was holding, wiped his hands, and picked up the phone, saying, "If you have anything to say, say it now. Otherwise, I'm hanging up. Don't bother me!"
"Don't hang up, it was just a joke. Why are you so angry?" Shae said. "I called to ask if you have any plans for the weekend. I'd like to ask you out."
"Are you out of your mind? Do you think I would agree?" Alexander said angrily, about to hang up, feeling that Shae was acting weird that day.
"Don't hang up, I have something important to tell you, something only the two of us know. Let's go out together this weekend and I'll tell you," Shae said.
"I don't want to hear anything from you. Stop bothering me!" Alexander said sternly and hung up the phone.
Behind him, Lillian's voice suddenly sounded, "Honey, who was calling you?"
Alexander turned around and saw her walking in. He quickly went over to help her sit down and said, "It was Shae. I don't know why she suddenly went crazy and said she had something important to tell me but wouldn't say what it was when I asked."
Lillian asked, "Could it be that she wants to ask you out?"
Alexander touched his nose and smiled wryly, "She did say that, but I sternly scolded her."
Lillian eyed him suspiciously and coldly said, "Come clean, and you'll be treated leniently."
Seeing Lillian's change in expression, he quickly raised his hands in surrender, "Honey, you misunderstood. I didn't have time to say anything before you asked."
She rolled her eyes at him and said unhappily, "Why is she so annoying, clinging to someone else's husband? How shameless! She's so detestable!"
"It's all my fault. You can hit me to vent your anger," Alexander coaxed, knowing that in the later stages of pregnancy, nothing could go wrong.
Lillian believed Alexander and didn't dwell on the matter, changing the topic, "Is the food ready?"
She had been craving barbecue for the past couple of days. Alexander had said he could make it, and she had come in earlier because she smelled the aroma, coincidentally hearing the conversation.
"Almost done," Alexander said, pinching her cheek and getting up to continue at the counter.
Soon, a plate of barbecue was served. Lillian took the utensils and started eating, the delicious taste making her show an expression of enjoyment. She praised, "Honey, this is so good!"
"If you like it, eat more," Alexander replied.
Suddenly, his phone rang again. This time it was a work call, with Kaitlyn reporting on the company's situation. Lillian listened and it seemed like there was an issue at the company. Alexander was angry and arranged things furiously.
The call lasted quite a while. When it ended, he sat back down, silently watching Lillian eat.
"Honey, I'm done," Lillian said. "Is there something wrong at the company? It's not good for you to stay with me all the time and neglect your work. Maybe you should go back and check on things for the next couple of days."
Alexander said, "It's nothing. If they can't handle this, they can all get lost!"
Seeing him so angry, Lillian shrank back and didn't dare to say more.
"What's wrong? Did I scare you?" Alexander asked with a smile.
She said, "You have no idea how scary you are when you're angry. It feels like when I was your secretary, and I didn't even dare to breathe when you were mad."
Alexander laughed, "I'm not mad at you now. Don't forget that you are my wife, Mrs. Sinclair."
Lillian smiled, "Okay, honey."
"By the way, the dessert shop sent me some cake designs today. Take a look and see which one you like," Alexander said, showing her his phone.
As Lillian looked through the designs, she asked, "Honey, who did you invite to the birthday party? I only invited Wendy and Angela. I thought about inviting Shirley too, but then I felt it wasn't appropriate, so I didn't tell her."
"Just Caspian and Theodore, and I told Evelyn not to bring her boyfriend," Alexander said. "I want to give you a peaceful birthday party."
