Chapter 151 Being Alexander's Pillow
Lillian was pulled into his embrace, her eyes widening in astonishment, her heart pounding like a drum.
"Alexander," she whispered, "t's just us. No need to put on a show."
Alexander rested his chin on her head and chuckled. "Who would I be acting for with just you here?"
Lillian hesitated and then asked, "Then why are you holding me?"
The pleasant scent of his clothes filled her nose, making her feel lightheaded. She greedily took several deep breaths
"What do you think the reason is?" Alexander asked, holding her shoulders and looking at her playfully.
Lillian blushed, stammering, not daring to meet his gaze. "I really don't know. But it can't be because you like me."
Alexander wanted to know what was going through her mind. He held her because he liked her.
Lillian thought, 'No way. He can't like me. But why is he hugging me?'
Alexander said, "Because you snore and keep me awake, so you can be my pillow for a while to make it up to me."
Lillian asked, "Do you want to sleep now?"
"Yeah, I've been busy all afternoon, and I'm tired." Alexander hugged her again, like she was a pillow. "I'll nap for thirty minutes before picking up Luke."
"I want to go with you to pick up Luke. He'll be really happy if we go together," Lillian said hopefully.
Alexander replied, "Alright, we'll go together."
He sounded like he was about to nod off, so she didn't disturb him and lay quietly in his arms.
His gentle breathing above her made her heart race. Lillian thought, 'This must be what they call chemistry! The baby has really changed things between us.'
She never imagined their relationship would change so quickly. 'What will it be like in the future? After the baby grows up, will we still be like this?' she thought,
She didn't know but hoped it would be.
She took another deep breath of the scent on his clothes, the fresh smell putting her in a good mood. Next time, she had to ask Kelly what laundry detergent he used.
Lillian lay there, watching the clock, then gently called, "Alexander, time's up."
"Alright," he responded groggily.
Seeing he wasn't fully awake, she said, "Why don't you stay home and sleep, and I'll go with Mr. Martin to pick up Luke."
"I'm awake," Alexander said. He opened his eyes and saw her right in front of him. He contentedly touched her face before letting her go.
Freed from his embrace, Lillian stretched her legs and said, "I'll go downstairs to change clothes."
"Go ahead. Be careful on the stairs." Alexander got up, watched her leave, and decided to move his room downstairs.
Linda was sitting in the living room chatting with Kelly when Lillian came downstairs and called out, "Grandma."
"I haven't seen you all afternoon," Linda said.
"I took a nap with Alexander," Lillian said.
Linda frowned slightly and asked directly, "You didn't have sex, did you? Don't be rash!"
"Grandma!" Lillian was embarrassed and went back to her room.
Kelly smiled at Linda and said, "Mr. Alexander Sinclair's a sensible guy. He wouldn't do that."
Linda still needed reassurance. "No, I need to have a chat with Alexander later."
Just then, Alexander came down the stairs, and Linda quickly said, "Why have you been slacking off since Lily got pregnant?"
"Lily wanted something tasty, so I bought it and stayed," Alexander said, sitting down next to Linda.
"Alexander, Lillian's just newly pregnant, and the fetusisn't stable yet. Don't mess around and risk losing my great-grandchild, or I'll have a bone to pick with you!" Linda warned.
"Grandma, don't worry," he said with a laugh.
Linda said sternly, "Don't lie to me. I'm warning you, don't take this lightly!"
"Alright, I won't mess around," Alexander promised.
Kelly asked Lillian as she was leaving, "Are you heading out?"
"Yeah, we're going to pick up Luke from school," Lillian replied.
"Alright, we'll wait for you to come back for dinner," Kelly said.
Linda then said to Lillian, "There are lots of people at the school gate. Stay in the car."
"Okay, Grandma," Lillian said with a smile.
Alexander took Lillian's hand, and they left.
Linda and Kelly watched through the floor-to-ceiling window as the two got into the car. Seeing how attentive Alexander was to Lillian, they both smiled.
On the way to school, Lillian said with a helpless smile, "Grandma's overly nervous, which makes me nervous."
Alexander also smiled. "Grandma's been waiting for this. Since you're pregnant, she'll worry about everything."
"Do all wealthy families want sons? If I have a daughter, Grandma and Mom will be disappointed, right? Will they ask me to have a second child?" Lillian asked worriedly.
Alexander replied, "No one else can decide if we have another child. Regardless of gender, our child will be great. If they're disappointed, that's their problem. Don't worry about it."
"Do you really think that way? Don't you want a son to inherit the family business?" Lillian asked, not quite believing him.
"Some things are out of our control. You're not the only one who might not have a son. Thinking about this is pointless," Alexander replied.
"Then you might get a son from someone else. If not me, maybe someone else can," Lillian said.
Alexander laughed coldly and glanced sideways at her. "Are you testing me?"
"No," Lillian avoided his gaze and said guiltily. "I'm just thinking about you. We don't know how long we'll be together. I don't want to hold you back."
Alexander said unhappily, "Just take care of yourself. Don't worry about me."
"Alright," Lillian replied sullenly.
However, his reassurance about having a boy or girl reduced her stress.
When the car stopped at the school gate, Alexander said, "Stay in the car. I'll go get him."
Seeing the crowd at the school gate, Lillian, afraid of being jostled, said, "Okay."
While waiting, Lillian saw her friend Wendy's message in the group chat: [I'm treating you all to dinner tomorrow to celebrate my new job!]
