Chapter 148 Lillian Wants Fried Chicken
Kelly's words made sense. Alexander always liked Lillian, and as a mother, she couldn't stop them. Luckily, Lillian was pregnant, and she could brag to Beatrice.
"Kelly, do you think Lillian is carrying a boy?" Samantha asked.
Kelly smiled. "Mrs. Samantha Sinclair, Mrs. Lillian Sinclair has been pregnant for a short time. Alexander says he'll love the child regardless of gender."
Samantha gave a helpless smile. "He may not care, but I want a grandson."
"Mrs. Samantha Sinclair, you will have a grandson," Kelly comforted.
Shae knocked on the Whale Group president's office door during lunch.
"Alexander, why don't you have lunch?" Shae asked lightly as she stood in front of the desk.
She added, "I took Muffin to the pet hospital for treatment today."
Shae owned a Shorthair, Muffin. After she moved out on her own, a cat kept her company. The cat had fallen ill multiple times before, and each time, she would request Alexander to accompany her to the hospital for injections.
"Good, the sooner it's treated, the sooner it will get better," Alexander remarked. "Why haven't you gone to eat?"
"I want to treat you to lunch." Shae leaned over the desk, smiling. "Thank you for accompanying me to the pet hospital before."
"There's no need to treat me for such a small matter," Alexander said as he stood up, took his coat, and put it on. He told her, "In the company, we must separate personal and professional problems to avoid work disruptions."
"I understand." Shae pouted slightly. "Mr. Sinclair, can I call you Alexander after work?"
"Calling me Alexander is still not appropriate. Amy and I are not married yet. Calling me Mr. Sinclair is the most suitable," Alexander said as he walked towards the door.
Shae found his behavior very strange today! He was clearly distancing himself from her, not even allowing her to call him Alexander! She thought, ‘What on earth had happened?’
Following Alexander out of the office, she heard him say to Kaitlyn, "I won't be back this afternoon. If there's anything, discuss it online."
Kaitlyn stood up and said respectfully, "Yes, Mr. Sinclair."
Shae pondered, feeling puzzled. 'He is always strict and disciplined, yet today he only worked for half a day.'
Given Alexander's cold attitude towards her in the office, she didn't dare to ask him directly. Instead, she watched him enter the elevator and then turned to Kaitlyn.
"Kaitlyn, why didn't Ms. Hill come to work today?" Shae thought Alexander's early departure must be related to Lillian.
"She took time off," Kaitlyn replied indifferently.
"Why did she take a leave? Is she sick?" Shae asked again.
Kaitlyn smiled at her. "If you're so concerned about Ms. Hill, you should ask her yourself. The phone numbers of colleagues are posted on the wall."
Shae returned to her office, feeling snubbed. She was too stressed to have lunch. After one weekend, everything changed.
No, she had to find out what had gone wrong!
Alexander left the company and went straight home. Kevin was puzzled, as he had never seen Alexander skip work.
On the way, Alexander sent Lillian a message on Facebook: [I'm coming home now. Is there anything you want to eat?]
Lillian was accompanying Linda, watching TV, when she saw the Facebook message. She couldn't help but feel delighted and quickly replied: [I want fried chicken from that restaurant near the company.]
Alexander: [Anything else?]
He didn't want her to eat such fatty, high-calorie cuisine, but he figured she doesn't eat it daily. He agreed because an occasional indulgence wouldn't hurt, and he didn't want to upset her.
Looking at Facebook, Lillian felt even happier and replied, "Their burgers are also really good. Get me one. And I want honey mustard sauce."
Alexander looked at his phone and couldn't help but chuckle. It seemed she had eaten there quite often.
"Kevin, go to that fried chicken place near the company," Alexander said.
Kevin was momentarily stunned but nodded.
"Is it for Ms. Hill?" Kevin asked with a smile.
"Yes, she's pregnant and wants fried chicken," Alexander said proudly.
Kevin was clearly taken aback. "Ms. Hill is pregnant? Congratulations."
Alexander smiled and said, "You can't ignore security. Make sure Lily is with someone when she goes out alone now."
"Rest assured," Kevin said, feeling happy for Alexander.
After arriving home, Alexander spotted Lillian curled up like a kitten in the chair beside the floor-to-ceiling window, staring out. When the automobile returned, she perked up, her eyes wide with expectation, and her smile brightened.
Alexander got out of the car and lifted the box of fried chicken to show her. Lillian rushed to the door.
She opened the door just as he reached it, and they exchanged smiles.
"You've really become a little glutton," Alexander said, pinching her cheek.
Lillian shrugged and laughed, focusing on the fried chicken.
She whispered, "I wanted to ask Kelly to get me some, but I was scared Grandma wouldn't like me eating it, so I didn't. Thank goodness you returned. Now, I can eat it."
Alexander bent slightly, turning to listen. As she spoke, his ear felt a bit warm.
"Then go upstairs to your room to eat so Grandma won't see," Alexander whispered back, playing along.
Lillian giggled, then tiptoed upstairs with the box of fried chicken.
Melvin came out, smiling at Lillian, and said to Alexander, "Mr. Sinclair, Mrs. Samantha Sinclair went to Sinclair Villa to get clothes for Mrs. Linda Sinclair, who said she wanted to stay here for a few days."
"Where's my Grandma?" Alexander asked.
"She went upstairs for a nap," Melvin replied.
Alexander walked upstairs, chuckling to himself, 'Lillian must not know Grandma is napping. That's why she whispered to me. She's so adorable!'
Lillian was sitting cross-legged on the sofa in the room, eating a drumstick.
"This is so good!" The delicious food moved her.
Alexander saw her so happy and couldn't help but ask, "Is it really that tasty?"
"It's really good, especially with this sauce. The taste is amazing," Lillian said, dipping the drumstick into the sauce.
"Really? Let me try a bite," Alexander said, walking over and gently grabbing her wrist, bringing the honey mustard-covered drumstick to his mouth and taking a bite.
"Alexander," Lillian said, staring at him in a daze. "I've already bitten that."
