Chapter 265 Wendy Seeks Help from Lillian
Wendy looked at him in confusion and asked with a laugh, "Since you have good conditions, do I have to agree to your request? Mr. Carter, isn't that a bit presumptuous?"
Roy sneered and asked, "What's wrong with my thinking? Shouldn't finding a partner be based on conditions? Wendy, I know your family situation; both your parents are teachers, and I'm very satisfied with that. Plus, I like you. I think you're the perfect choice for a wife."
He added confidently, "We are well-matched; you should seriously consider my proposal."
Wendy found his confidence laughable. She thought, 'Where did he get this sense of superiority?'
"Mr. Carter, I think you should seriously consider someone else," she said firmly, then glanced at her phone. "I'm home now. You should go."
With that, Wendy tried to walk past him into the apartment complex. However, Roy wouldn't give up and continued to pester her, "I haven't finished talking yet. Going home won't make me feel any better. Wendy, you've been troubling me for the past six months. I don't get it Why don't you like me? Let's clear this up tonight. By the way, I haven't had dinner yet. How about I come to your place, and you cook me dinner so I can judge your cooking skills?"
"Are you crazy? Why would you come to my place?" Wendy was angry and said unhappily. "I don't like you. I've made that very clear. You're not money; why should I have to like you? Leave. Don't make a scene at my door and disturb others."
Roy had faced many rejections from Wendy over the past six months, and his narrow-mindedness had made him very angry. He always thought Wendy's reluctance was shyness and that she had already agreed in her heart. He felt like she was toying with him. When he said he wanted to clear things up, he wanted to hear her agree.
However, Wendy genuinely didn't like him. She even found him repulsive!
"I'm not doing anything to disturb others; I want to be a guest at your place. What's wrong with that?" Roy said sarcastically, raising his voice and shouting towards the upstairs. "Wendy, since I'm pursuing you, do you want to shut me out? Is this how you treat your colleagues?"
"Shut up!" Seeing a shadow appear on the balcony of Curtis's house on the second floor, Wendy was so scared that she covered his mouth. She hurriedly pulled him inside the building.
Once inside, Roy became even more brazen, smirking and saying, "I know this is a faculty building, and everyone here is your parents' colleague. What if I go to their doors and tell them you're my girlfriend? What will they think? When your parents come back, won't they have to meet me?"
Wendy regretted speaking without thinking. She had mentioned to a colleague that her parents were not home, and he must have overheard, which was why he was so arrogant now.
She opened the door and said irritably, "Come in for ten minutes."
Roy walked in and said provocatively, "Ten minutes isn't enough. I can't even finish dinner in that time."
"Don't push it," Wendy said, leaving the door open in case he did something excessive so she could call for help.
A stranger in the house made Molly bark incessantly. Strangely, when Caspian came over yesterday, Molly was very docile. It could tell who was a friend and who was a foe.
"Shut up! If you bark again, I'll kill you!" Roy said viciously.
Molly seemed to understand and quieted down.
Wendy picked up Molly and said unhappily, "It's because you don't look like a good person. Otherwise, Molly wouldn't bark at you!" With that, she took Molly back to her room.
She realized he wouldn't leave easily and needed to think of a plan. After a moment's thought, she called Lillian.
"Lillian, I need a favor. Can you ask Mr. Sinclair to come to my place urgently?" She said in a voice message to Lillian.
Tonight was Melvin's birthday, and the family was out for dinner and had yet to return.
"What's going on?" Lillian asked, puzzled.
Wendy briefly explained, "Roy is at my place and won't leave. I'm scared. I want Mr. Sinclair to come and scare him off."
"Okay, I got it. Protect yourself. I'll have him go over right now," Lillian said, ending the call.
After ending the call, she saw Alexander and Melvin enjoying their drinks and conversation. She knew that Alexander always respected Melvin as an elder and liked to confide in him. The lack of a father figure in his life made him see Melvin as a father.
It was inappropriate to ask him to leave now to help Wendy.
"Caspian, let me play, too. I want to play," Lucas pleaded with Caspian to let him play a game.
Caspian was also there for Melvin's birthday.
Lillian's eyes suddenly lit up. Here was a perfect candidate. Caspian's roguish demeanor might be even more effective than Alexander's.
"Have you finished eating, Caspian?" Lillian asked softly, patting his shoulder.
Caspian looked at her, puzzled but smiling. He said, "Lillian, say what you need. Don't act coy; I'm quite afraid of your husband."
Lillian said, "There's an urgent matter, and I need your help. You're the perfect person for this."
"What is it?" Caspian asked nonchalantly.
Lillian explained Wendy's predicament.
Caspian scoffed and said, "Since she dared to bring him inside, what is she afraid of?"
"Don't just stand by and watch. Wendy has always been a bit naive. She was almost in tears when she called me. Please, help her for my sake, okay?" Lillian said, taking a few steps closer.
Caspian put away his phone, stood up, and said, "Alright, I'll go. Lillian, I'm doing this for you. Go back and sit down; don't tire yourself out."
Lillian was pleased and sat in his seat, smiling. She said, "Thank you, Caspian."
Caspian had been drinking that night and couldn't drive, so he took two bodyguards, Larry and Craig, with him.
Wendy sat on a single sofa, watching Roy eat an apple. She said, "It's been half an hour. You should leave."
"We haven't cleared things up yet. How can I leave?" Roy said, taking another bite of the apple, feeling justified.
Caspian remarked, "Whatever you need to say, say it to me!"
At the door, Caspian walked in with two bodyguards, the sound of their shoes echoing on the tiles. He walked up lazily, hands in his pockets, and glanced at Roy.
Then, he looked at Wendy, smiling indulgently. He asked, "When I'm not home, how can you let anyone in? What if he hurts you?"
