Chapter 357 Everyone's Current Situation
Hearing this, Daniel sneered and said, "Quit trying to scare me. I've never heard of the Phillips family, but I have heard of Alexander. You, his sister? You think I'm that dumb to believe you?"
Evelyn mentioned Alexander just to intimidate him. After all, the name "Alexander" carried a lot of weight in Ridgewood!
"Evelyn, don't waste your breath on him. Call Alexander and get him over here. Let's see if they still have the guts to act like this." Amos, who was being beaten, shouted.
"Hurry up and make them stop!" Evelyn turned around and tried to pull the security guards away. She wasn't going to call Alexander, as she didn't want to drag Alexander into her problems.
Although Daniel didn't believe what they said, he still told the security guards to stop. He said to Evelyn, "You're so sensible. How do you expect to close any deals? You might as well go back and file for bankruptcy!"
Evelyn helped Amos up and glared at Daniel, saying, "The one who should file for bankruptcy is you! Just wait, I'll settle this with you!"
"You're quite stubborn!" Daniel mocked, "Fine, I'll be waiting. Bring it on."
Evelyn supported Amos, and they limped out of the office.
Back in the car, seeing his face was bruised and swollen, Evelyn felt both heartache and frustration. "You went in alone and started a fight at Daniel's place. How could you not get beaten up?"
Amos winced in pain, unable to move his neck. He looked at her sideways, his swollen mouth mumbling, "I was just worried about you. If I had known the door was voice-activated, I would have beaten him up first. Then I wouldn't have suffered so much."
Evelyn felt deeply touched. His protective stance spoke volumes about his love for her.
"Let's go. I'll take you to the hospital first." Evelyn sniffled and started the car.
Amos asked, "Evelyn, are you mad at me? I'm sorry I messed up the business deal."
Evelyn said, "Of course not. I wouldn't want to work with someone like him! Amos, thank you for showing up to protect me. I should be the one apologizing to you."
"Evelyn, I'm your boyfriend. It's my responsibility to protect you!" Amos endured the pain in his arm, grabbed Evelyn's hand, and squeezed it tightly. "Believe me, no matter what happens in the future, I'll always protect you without hesitation!"
Evelyn stared straight ahead, her face tense. But inside, she was deeply moved by his simple words. "I believe you!" she replied seriously after a moment.
Amos saw her reaction and the corners of his swollen mouth lifted slightly.
Evelyn drove to the nearest hospital. Amos underwent an examination and was found to have only superficial injuries with no fractures. His face was treated, and he was prescribed some ointment.
As they left the hospital, Evelyn worriedly asked, "Can you take care of yourself with these injuries?"
"It's fine. It's not like I broke an arm or a leg. Once the medicine kicks in, I'll be okay. Don't worry." Amos leaned against Evelyn, playfully saying, "But you should come visit me often, make me breakfast and dinner."
"Of course." Evelyn looked at his bruised eye and turned her face away, trying not to laugh.
Time flew by, and it was already the end of December, a lot has happened in the past month; Evelyn somehow convinced Joseph to give the project to Amos's company.
.
Alexander had brought in a psychiatrist from Atlanta to treat Amy. Her condition was quite serious and required long-term systematic treatment. The expert suggested that Alexander's involvement might be necessary at times.
Although Alexander felt pity and guilt for her, he politely declined, saying that medication and psychological treatment should suffice and that he wouldn't be involved in the auxiliary treatment. He knew that once he got involved, it would be hard to explain to Lillian about this.
Meanwhile, Lillian's career had been going well recently. The comic she signed with "Imaginarium Ink" received a lot of positive feedback as soon as it was serialized on the app. She also continued to update her comic on the forum and chatted with her fans there, occasionally complaining about Alexander.
Of course, there were also some bad things.
Camille had been having constant arguments with her parents. Trevor from the marketing department was indeed a married man. Kevin reported toLillian that while Trevor was highly competent at work, his personal life was a mess.
Lillian relayed this to Lisa, who nearly fainted upon hearing it and ordered Camille to break up with Trevor immediately. Meanwhile, Alexander also transferred Camille from the marketing department back to the executive office, but it was too late; Camille was already infatuated with Trevor.
With winter vacation here, Lucas went to tutoring classes every day. In the afternoons, he would go to Oscar's room to play with him.
Emily, who was also on break, would bring things over, acting as if she was paying for her meals. At first, Oscar was quite resistant to her daily visits, but after a week, he gave up, thinking it was nice to have a lively room.
On the last day of the year, the Whale Group held its annual party. Lillian, Alexander's wife, accompanied him to the event. Tonight, she wore a white gown, her hair slightly up, and her makeup was exquisite. Standing next to Alexander, they looked like a perfect match.
Appearing in public for the first time as the CEO's wife, Lillian was understandably nervous. She clung tightly to Alexander's arm, greeting and chatting with each guest, a perfect smile on her face.
Finally finding a moment to relax, she lifted her dress slightly and stood before the buffet table, helping herself to a piece of cake. She had been in such a rush leaving that she hadn't had time to eat, and now she was ravenously hungry.
"Mrs. Sinclair." Shirley suddenly appeared, teasingly calling her.
Lillian turned around, saw her, put down the cake, and hugged her. "I was just looking for you but couldn't find you," she said with a smile. "How have you been?"
"I've been great," Shirley said with a smile, looking at her and sighing, "Becoming a mother has changed you; you've got that soft, maternal glow now."
