Chapter 173 Lillian Fell
Shae felt a bit guilty but stubbornly said, "Your thing with Alexander isn't that serious. If I wanted to seduce him, it wouldn't be hard. You should worry about that."
Lillian turned off the stove and replied, "Why should I worry? Have you ever heard the saying, 'Love grows where it is planted'?"
"How about this one? Men are driven by lust," Shae shot back, not backing down.
Lillian scooped the noodles onto a plate, laughed, and said mockingly, "Shae, do you really think Alexander only thinks with his pants?"
Shae was furious, not expecting Lillian to be so sharp-tongued. As Lillian walked past her with the plate, Shae gritted her teeth, glared, and subtly stuck out her foot, tripping Lillian.
Lillian screamed as the plate flew out, spilling noodles everywhere. The chefs heard the commotion and rushed over. One helped Lillian up while another went to report the incident.
Shae squatted down, pretending to be concerned, and asked, "Ms. Hill, are you okay? How did you fall?"
Lillian angrily shook off her arm and shouted, "Stop pretending! You tripped me!"
"Don't talk nonsense. I did nothing," Shae said loudly as she saw Alexander rushing over.
"Lily!" Alexander hurried over, picked her up, and, with sweat on his forehead, anxiously asked, "Does your stomach hurt?"
Lillian clung to his neck and shook her head. She was scared. If this fall had caused her to lose the baby, it wouldn't just be her suffering.
"Alexander, it wasn't me. Ms. Hill's fall has nothing to do with me. Believe me," Shae quickly explained.
Alexander's eyes turned cold, but he said nothing. He turned and carried Lillian out of the kitchen.
Back in the room, Alexander gently placed Lillian on the bed. After comforting her, he helped her change clothes, intending to take her to the hospital.
"I'm fine now. My stomach doesn't hurt, and I don't feel any different. Don't worry, no need to go to the hospital," Lillian said, trying to calm him down.
Alexander opened the wardrobe and took out her clothes, saying, "How can I not worry? The baby is in your belly. If anything happens to you, both of you will suffer. We must go to the hospital for a check-up so I can be at ease."
Lillian's eyes reddened with emotion. She said, "If you're really worried, call Angela to check on me. She's an OB-GYN, so there's no need to go to the hospital."
Alexander, not convinced, said, "Does she have X-ray vision? Is she more accurate than the machines?"
"Trust me, Angela is very skilled. Let her take a look first. If it's not enough, we'll go to the hospital. Okay?" Lillian pleaded, not wanting him to go through too much trouble.
Alexander, hands on his hips and scratching his brow, finally relented, "Alright, call her up."
Lillian sent Angela a message on Facebook, and a minute later, Angela arrived.
"What happened?" Angela asked. "Where are you hurt?"
Alexander, standing nearby, said, "She fell in the kitchen. Can you check if she's okay?"
Angela shot Alexander a glare before sitting on the bed, taking Lillian's hand, and asking her some questions.
Alexander, confused by the glare, focused on his concern for Lillian. Both of them watched Angela nervously, hoping everything was fine.
"Do you feel any discomfort now?" Angela suddenly asked.
"No, my stomach doesn't hurt. Everything feels normal," Lillian replied tensely. "Is there something wrong?"
"Maybe we should go to the hospital," Alexander suggested.
Angela said, "From my observation, the pregnancy is a bit unstable, but it's not serious. We can monitor it for a couple of days. No need to go to the hospital. Just stay in bed and rest."
"Are you sure? Please check again. She fell pretty hard," Alexander said, still worried.
"That's because you weren't watching her. Now you're scared something might happen!" Angela snapped.
Alexander was taken aback, and Lillian looked at Angela in surprise. Fortunately, he didn't say anything.
"Don't make a fuss!" Angela said. "You guys are too delicate. Pregnant women in rural areas still work in the fields. Just stay in bed and take some medication to stabilize the pregnancy. I'll prescribe some, and you can have someone pick it up from my clinic tomorrow."
Lillian and Alexander finally breathed a sigh of relief and smiled at each other.
Angela looked at Lillian and asked, "How did you fall? Did Shae push you?"
Knowing Angela's temper, Lillian decided not to stir up trouble. "No, I'll tell you later. Have dinner first."
Angela rolled her eyes, stood up, glared at Alexander again, pointed at him wordlessly, and left the room.
Alexander, rubbing his nose, asked, "Is she mad at me?"
"What do you think? She's probably mad at you and Shae," Lillian said.
Feeling slightly relieved, Alexander began to ask about what happened, "Why did you go to the kitchen?"
"I saw you drinking without eating, so I checked the kitchen for food because I was worried about your stomach. I made you pasta because there was nothing left," Lillian said.
"How did you fall? Was there water on the floor, or was it intentional?" Alexander asked again.
Lillian looked at him with grievance and said, "Do you believe me if I tell you? It was Shae. She tripped me while I was walking."
"Why would she do that? Did you two argue?" Alexander asked, frowning.
Lillian looked at Alexander with a resentful gaze and said, "What do you think? Why would she do that? Isn't it obvious? It's all because of you."
Feeling guilty, Alexander lowered his head and said, "Lily, I'm sorry for it."
Lillian said seriously, "Alexander, I don't want excuses. Being with you, I can manage your fans. Now, I'm not alone. There's a baby in my belly. For him, I can't risk injury. I assume you know what I mean and hope you can eliminate your admirers. Consider my request."
Lillian had never spoken to Alexander in such a serious and stern tone. The fall had awakened her maternal instincts, and she wouldn't allow anyone to harm her baby.
