Chapter 408 There Are Conspiracies Everywhere
The next day, Aaron sneaked back to Ridgewood, wearing a mask and sunglasses all the way. He left the airport and got into a car.
In the morning, he slept at home. At noon, he got up on time, went out to a restaurant to buy lunch for Wendy, and then went to the studio.
Not wanting to alarm the staff, Evelyn specifically opened the back door to let Aaron in and arranged a small meeting room in the corner for the two of them.
When Aaron saw Wendy come in, he hugged her and softly asked, "Did you miss me?"
Wendy replied, "I did."
The two hadn't seen each other for a while. Every day, Wendy could only see him on Instagram and in videos, knowing his whereabouts.
"I bought lunch. I'll eat with you." Aaron held her hand and sat down, opened the lunch box, forked some food, and thoughtfully handed it to her.
Wendy saw that it was all her favorite dishes and giggled, "Thank you, darling."
Aaron cut a piece of steak for her and said, "You must be hungry, right? Eat more."
Aaron also ate and said, "By the way, Wendy, do your parents know about us?"
"I haven't told them yet," Wendy shook her head. "I don't know how they'll react to me dating a celebrity, so I haven't said anything."
Aaron said, "We can find a time to tell them later. But my grandfather knows about us and wants me to bring you home."
"What? How does your grandfather know?" Wendy was so startled that she almost dropped her fork. She wasn't ready to meet him yet.
"My grandfather knows everything about me. He noticed I hadn't brought you home yet, so he asked me about it," Aaron tentatively asked, "How about tonight?"
Wendy hesitated, "Aaron, I feel it's too soon. How about you explain to your grandfather and give me some more time before I visit him?"
"Wendy, what are you afraid of?" Aaron asked, "Are you afraid I'll let you down?"
Wendy lowered her eyes and softly said, "That's part of it. What if we break up later? Let's date a bit longer first."
Aaron pursed his lips, thought for a moment, and compromised, "Alright, if you don't want to, I won't force you. Anyway, my grandfather knows about you."
"Does he know in detail?" Wendy asked curiously, "Does your grandfather think we're not suitable?"
Aaron laughed, "Your qualities meet my grandfather's requirements. Don't always be so cautious. We've been together for a few months now; you should be getting used to it."
Wendy playfully said, "I'm slowly getting used to it."
"By the way, there's one more thing," Aaron said, "I know you must have been bothered by the scandal about me online. I'm sorry. Just ignore it. Over time, you'll get used to it."
"So, are those things true or not?" Wendy stared at him seriously and asked.
Aaron looked back at her with clear eyes and firmly said, "They're all false."
Wendy let out a breath, realizing her heart had been tense.
"Are you my fan? How come you don't know anything about me?" Aaron teased her.
Wendy said, "I liked you because of your movies and TV shows. I liked your looks but didn't dig deeper."
Aaron said, "Then I need to punish you properly!"
"You punish me? I was worried sick about your scandal. I think I should be the one punishing you!" Wendy said defiantly, not letting him change the subject.
Aaron said, "How do you want to punish me? I'll cooperate. How about a kiss?"
"No," Wendy shyly turned her head away but stole a glance at him.
Aaron continued eating, "Alright, I won't tease you anymore. Let's eat."
Wendy sat up straight, seeing he was eating, but she felt something was off, though she couldn't say why.
After eating, Wendy saw Aaron off to his car and said he'd pick her up after work.
"Okay, drive safely. See you tonight." Wendy waved goodbye.
After getting in the car, Aaron took a call, his face instantly lighting up with a smile. He spoke gently, "I'm on my way to you now. Wait for me."
The person on the other end asked a few more questions.
Aaron said, "She still hasn't fully opened up to me. But she meets my grandfather's requirements, which is perfect. I don't care how she feels about me."
"Once I marry Wendy, my grandfather won't pay much attention to me. Then, we'll have more time together. For now, I just need to date Wendy normally. She's quite nice, pure, and cute. I feel at ease with her."
"I'll stop talking now. Wait for me, baby." Aaron kissed the phone and hung up.
Time flew by, and it was already May. Alexander and Lillian went out to take their wedding photos.
Ridgewood has mountains, sea, and beautiful scenery, so there's no need to look for special locations. The local scenery is perfect for beautiful shots. The photography team was hired at a high price by Alexander from Atlanta. He knew girls loved taking wedding photos, and he wanted Lillian to have no regrets and capture her most beautiful self.
On a high cliff by the sea, Lillian wore a white veil and a pure white wedding dress that highlighted her graceful figure, not looking like someone who had given birth.
"The bride's gaze needs to be colder, like this," the photographer demonstrated. After several attempts, the photographer's colleague vetoed them all.
"No, your gaze isn't cold enough!" the makeup artist complained. She looked around and saw Alexander standing aside, frowning deeply with a cold gaze.
"Bride, look at your husband's eyes right now. That's the look you need."
Lillian looked at Alexander, wondering what had upset him and who he was angry with. She tried to mimic his gaze.
"Good, just like that, hold it!" The photographer was excited, snapping away with his camera.
After finishing a set of photos, Lillian dragged her dress over to Alexander and asked, "What's going on?"
Alexander put away his phone and said, "It's a company issue. It's fine. I asked Kevin to handle it."
As he finished speaking, the wardrobe assistant came over with Lillian's phone and said, "Bride, you have a call."
Alexander's expression changed, but Lillian was quicker and answered the call.
On the other end, Evelyn's anxious and tearful voice asked, "Lillian, has Amos called you? Is Alexander with you? I just tried calling him, but he didn't answer. Can you ask him to pick up the phone?"
