Chapter 325 Friends Reunite
Colin's weathered face bore a look of sorrow. Staring at Alexander, he sighed deeply and said, "Amy is just too stubborn. If she had listened to your mother and broken up with you back then, she wouldn't have ended up like this." As Colin spoke, his eyes reddened again.
"Don't be sad. Think about it from another perspective. Suddenly discovering she isn't dead should bring you joy, shouldn't it?" Alexander consoled.
Colin gave a resigned, wry smile and shook his head. "Her illness has both me and her mom worried sick. She's always weighted the world on her shoulders and never shares what's on her mind."
Alexander said, "She has a friend with her now, someone she met while abroad. You could try reaching out to her and subtly ask around."
Colin's eyes lit up with hope. "Really? Thank you, Alexander."
After the secretary saw Colin off, Alexander felt a mix of emotions. This was all he could do.
With Samantha in the hospital, Theodore and Angela off on a road trip, and Caspian having mobility issues, they didn't get a chance to gather and enjoy each other's company. Even Lillian unintentionally grumbled to Alexander that this particular holiday had been both exhausting and dull. So, this weekend, Alexander invited all his friends to his estate, planning to spend a joyful and lively weekend together.
On Saturday, after attending class with Lucas, Alexander and Lillian headed straight to the estate. Oscar, having just undergone surgery, stayed at home to rest and care for their child, avoiding any strenuous activity.
"Today in class, a classmate asked me where I've been lately. I said nowhere, and they all laughed at me," Lucas said helplessly.
"Sorry, your grandma is in the hospital, and we didn't have time to take you out," Lillian said.
"Lillian, I know. Plus, Oscar had surgery. I understand!" Lucas said.
"Honey, Lucas has grown up. Look at how sensible he is," Lillian said, a bit emotional.
Alexander turned to look at him and praised, "Exactly.."
Lucas arrogantly said, "It's because you both taught me well. The teacher said parents are the most influential figures in a child's life."
"You're getting more and more talkative!" Lillian teased him with a smile. She patted Lucas's head, feeling a bit guilty. Since her babies were born, her attention had been on them, neglecting Lucas a bit. Seeing how sensible he was now, she felt both comforted and reminded herself not to favor one over the other.
As they drove to the estate, there were already two cars parked out front. Jackson, Ainsley, Caspian, and Wendy had arrived.
Seeing Lillian, Wendy happily came over, linking arms with her and saying, "Why are you so late?"
"Did you drive here?" Lillian asked Wendy, looking at Caspian sitting in a wicker chair in the yard.
Wendy shook her head and said, "I wouldn't dare. Marcus drove us here."
Lucas saw Jackson and Ainsley, his face lighting up with joy. He grabbed their hands and led them inside, sharing funny stories from school with them.
Caspian put away his phone, leaned on his cane with one hand, and extended the other to Wendy, striking a pose, "Wendy, help me to the bathroom!" With Wendy coming over, he draped his arm over her shoulder and hobbled inside.
Outside, a car horn sounded. Lillian and Alexander looked over to see Theodore getting out of the car with a bottle of red wine, while Angela went to park.
"You all arrived so early? Looks like Angela and I are late," Theodore said, handing the wine to Alexander. After this road trip, even the way they addressed each other had changed; Dr. Turner had become Angela.
Lillian raised her eyebrows suggestively at Angela, who was walking over.
"Is your face cramping? Why are you making faces?" Angela asked with concern as she got closer.
Lillian rolled her eyes internally and blinked, saying, "No, I haven't been sleeping well these past few nights, and my eyes feel a bit dry and irritated."
Angela glanced at Alexander, then patted Lillian's shoulder and said earnestly, "Take care and prioritize your health!" With that, she and Theodore walked inside.
Lillian looked at Alexander, pondering her words, "Honey, what did she mean by that?" Then she shouted from behind, "It's not what you think!"
Everyone gathered in the living room, chatting away. Lillian, Wendy, and Angela were always full of endless chatter, naturally getting more excited and raising their voices without realizing it. Of course, it was mainly Lillian and Wendy; Angela wasn't as crazy as those two.
"I've been so swamped lately, haven't you noticed I haven't said a word in the group? Between burning the midnight oil at work, spending time with my folks at home, and taking care of Caspian, I'm running around like a headless chicken. It's exhausting!" Wendy complained bitterly.
Lillian also complained, "Samantha is in the hospital, so I've been staying there."
After they finished, they both looked at Angela enviously and said, "You're the lucky one, going on a trip."
Angela smiled and took out two bracelets from her bag. "I got these for you two as gifts."
"Thank you!" Lillian and Wendy happily accepted them.
Caspian, sitting across from them, nudged Theodore with his elbow and asked teasingly, "She knows to buy gifts for her friends. What about us? Did you get us anything?"
"Stop messing around; how am I supposed to know what to buy for you?" Theodore said with a helpless smile.
Caspian turned to Alexander and Jackson, speaking sarcastically, "He knows to give girls expensive gifts but doesn't know what to get us?"
"Which girl?" Jackson asked curiously.
Alexander smiled and looked at Angela.
"Look at Dr. Turner's watch. Doesn't it look familiar? She got that, and we got nothing?" Caspian said, watching Theodore with interest to see how he would respond.
Theodore looked a bit guilty but tried to stay calm. "Don't jump to conclusions; it's not what you think. She and I are just friends."
"So how do you explain that watch then?" Caspian pressed.
"I have the right to keep my mouth shut," Theodore said, not wanting to explain.
"We're here!" At the door, Evelyn, arm in arm with Amos, greeted everyone cheerfully.
