Chapter 435 My Girlfriend is Career-Oriented
Caspian chuckled and said, "This isn't bad, it saves time."
Wendy said, "We're so young, I don't want to get married early. I still want to develop my career."
Caspian was quite surprised by what she said, "You want a career?"
"Yeah!" Wendy saw his incredulous look and asked, "What? Do you look down on me?"
"Not at all. I just find it a bit unexpected. I thought you would be the type of woman who likes to stay home and take care of the family," Caspian explained.
Wendy said, "I do like being a homemaker. But I will always put my career first and family second."
"You're amazing!" Caspian clapped his hands, praising Wendy.
"What about you? Your family's company will need you to take over in the future, right? You don't seem very concerned about it," Wendy asked.
Caspian smiled, "Whether I care about the company or not, I'll have to manage it in the future. I'll deal with it then."
Wendy disagreed with him, "How can you just deal with it then? Haven't you heard of planning? I think you should go to the company every day, learn more, do more, so you'll be well-prepared to take over in the future."
"Are you starting to manage me now?" Caspian asked casually.
"No, I'm just giving you a suggestion. Who said I'm managing you!" Wendy said unhappily.
Caspian laughed heartily and raised his hand to pat her head.
At this moment, Valentin walked in with a flattering smile, "Mr. Wade."
Caspian rubbed Wendy's head and asked indifferently, "What's up?"
Wendy stood up and said, "You guys talk, I'll go check on Seraphina."
Valentin gave her a grateful smile and sat in her seat.
In the living room, Patrick and Aubrey were no longer there, only Jessica and Aurora were still chatting.
"Wendy, come over and chat with me. It's been so many years," Aurora called her over when she saw her coming from the balcony.
"Aurora, I want to chat with Seraphina."
"She's feeling sick and went to sleep," Aurora grabbed her and pulled her to sit beside her, smiling and asking, "Wendy, are you and Mr. Wade planning to get married? Does his family agree with your marriage?"
"Aurora, his family doesn't know yet," Wendy said with awkwardness.
Aurora looked at Caspian and Valentin sitting on the balcony and said to Jessica, "Jessica, look, your future son-in-law Caspian is much better than Valentin."
Jessica said indifferently, "Caspian is not a future son-in-law. I think Valentin is better, he's a good match for Seraphina."
Aurora laughed, "Jessica, why are you still so stubborn? Men as excellent as Caspian are very rare, and you're still not satisfied?"
Jessica said, "I would prefer Wendy to find someone like Valentin."
Wendy lowered her eyes, feeling a bit sad hearing Jessica say that. Caspian had been with her in the hospital for over a month, taking care of them diligently, but he still couldn't win Jessica's approval.
Aurora saw she was a bit sad and said to her, "Wendy, don't listen to your mom. I bet she might have already agreed in her heart."
"I have not!" Jessica stated firmly.
Wendy's last bit of hope was shattered, and she sighed inwardly. She felt it was inappropriate to argue at Aurora's house, so she just smiled bitterly.
Aurora didn't expect Jessica to react so strongly and quickly said with a smile, "Jessica, don't get furious. Let's talk about something else."
In the afternoon, Aurora prepared a big table of dishes to entertain them. Everyone sat around, enjoying a warm and happy meal together.
Caspian was driving, so he didn't drink. Valentin kept the conversation going, making jokes at the table, ensuring there was never a dull moment. Wendy sat next to Caspian, who took care of her meticulously. Even Seraphina felt a bit jealous, complaining that Valentin wasn't as considerate as Caspian.
In the evening, after leaving Aurora's house, Aurora's family saw them off to the community gate. They chatted a bit more before getting in the car and leaving.
Back home, Caspian and Wendy walked behind Jessica and Patrick. He scratched the back of her hand with his finger and mouthed, "Meet me in the kitchen later."
Wendy pointed her chin towards Jessica and shook her head reluctantly.
"Don't be afraid," Caspian mouthed exaggeratedly.
Jessica said from the front, "Wendy, come with me to the room."
Wendy followed Jessica, reluctantly looking back at Caspian and waving, "Good night."
"Good night," Caspian pointed towards the kitchen again.
Wendy and Jessica went to their room, washed up, and went to bed.
Lying down, Wendy closed her eyes and thought hard. 'Mom didn't sleep well, and I didn't know when she would fall asleep. How could I go to the kitchen?'
In the dark, Jessica suddenly spoke, startling her.
"Wendy, although I won't control you like before, I still hope you can be cautious about marriage. I won't force you to go on blind dates, but I also don't want to accept Caspian. I hope you can understand me."
Wendy was stunned for a moment and said, "Mom, we haven't thought that far yet. It takes time to figure out how to live together. If we keep dating, will you always disagree?"
"I don't know, I haven't thought about it," Jessica said.
"Alright," Wendy turned her head to look at the back of Jessica's head and said, "I hope Caspian and I keep dating, so you can see more of his good qualities and agree to our marriage."
Jessica didn't say anything. Wendy also silently closed her eyes.
Wendy felt like she was about to fall asleep when suddenly there was a sound by her phone, startling her awake.
She took a deep breath, half sat up, and leaned over to look at Jessica, who was lightly snoring. She quietly got out of bed and tiptoed out of the room.
In the kitchen, Caspian was sitting at the table. When he saw her come in, he asked, "Is Jessica asleep?"
"I was about to fall asleep," Wendy sat across from him and curiously asked, "What are you doing here?"
Caspian said, "I wanted to call you to my room, but I figured you wouldn't dare to go. So I called you to the kitchen. Look what I prepared for you."
As he spoke, he took out a box of ice cream from under the table.
Wendy smiled happily and said, "Dessert!"
"Eat it, chat with me for a bit, then go back to sleep," Caspian handed her a small spoon.
