Chapter 216 Lillian went to the company

Rena, still fuming after getting chewed out, sat there with a pout.

Blake, feeling bad for her, turned to Beatrice and said, "Mom, Rena didn't mean any harm. Yelling at her won't help."

After a moment, he added, "Mom, we gotta act fast to make sure Lillian's baby doesn't come smoothly." He made a gesture to drive his point home.

Beatrice shook her head, frowning. "That's a dumb move. If anything happens to Lillian now, we'll be the first ones he suspects. We can't risk it."

"Then what do we do, Mom?" Blake asked, looking at Beatrice, who seemed pretty sure of herself.

Beatrice sneered, "We can't go after Lillian, but we can mess with the people around her."

"Like her sick brother, Oscar?" Blake asked with a wicked grin.

Rena jumped in, "Mom, that's a good idea. Oscar's weak, and if something happens to him, it would make sense."

"Remember when Michael's sister Emily made him so mad he ended up in the hospital? He's super fragile," Blake mocked.

Beatrice looked at Blake and said, "Find someone to handle this. It has to be perfect."

"Mom, don't sweat it. I got this!" Blake assured, patting his chest.

Beatrice glanced at Rena's belly, sighed, and went to her room.

Rena shot Blake a dirty look before heading to her room. Blake, feeling a headache coming on, quickly followed her.

"Get out!" Rena threw a pillow at him. "Why are you here? Just looking at you annoys me!"

Blake caught the pillow, smiled, and tried to calm her down. "Don't be mad at my mom. She's just harsh with her words. Haven't you gotten used to it?"

Rena shouted, "I'm so used to it that I'm completely fed up!"

"Don't shout. You'll scare the baby." Blake quickly covered her belly with his hands. "Honey, don't be afraid. Mommy's not angry, just speaking loudly."

"Get away from me!" Rena pushed him away and pointed at his nose, cursing. "Your mom criticizes me every day. Even though I'm pregnant with a son, she still wants me to have triplets! If she's so capable, why doesn't she get pregnant herself? If she can give you three younger brothers, her position in the Sinclair Family will be unshakable forever!"

Blake couldn't help but laugh. "Honey, you're funny."

"I'm so angry, and you're still laughing!" Rena pushed him. "Get out! My son and I don't want to see you right now!"

Blake, worried her emotions might affect the baby, quickly said, "I'll go out and buy you something delicious. You stay home and calm down."

Rena's family was wealthy, though not as prestigious as the Sinclair Family. She had been pampered since childhood, but constant scolding and mocking from Beatrice had built up a lot of resentment in her heart.

"As a mistress for so many years, you haven't managed to marry into a wealthy family. It just shows how limited your skills are," Rena muttered to herself. "How dare you look down on me? Be careful, I might just abort the baby and divorce Blake, leaving you with nothing!"

If Beatrice heard these words, she would definitely be furious!

After leaving the cemetery, Alexander went home to change clothes.

Lillian was chilling in bed, sketching away. When she saw him come back, she asked, "Why are you back?"

On his way home, Alexander had swung by the supermarket and grabbed some dried fruits for her. Handing them over, he said, "Just came to change clothes. I'll be heading out again soon."

Lillian took the snacks absentmindedly, glancing at the drizzling rain outside. She was itching to go out and soak in the fresh air and the smell of rain-soaked earth.

"Honey, I'm feeling fine. Can you take me to the office? I haven't seen Kaitlyn and Shirley in ages. I miss them," Lillian pleaded.

Alexander looked at her with concern, asking, "Are you sure you're up for it? You should be resting."

"It's fine. I won't do anything crazy. I'll just chill in the office, okay? Staying home is driving me nuts," Lillian insisted.

Seeing her puppy-dog eyes, Alexander couldn't say no. "Alright, get dressed quickly."

Lillian, filled with joy, got up and knelt on the bed. She wrapped her arms around his neck, gave him a big kiss on the cheek, and said coquettishly, "Thank you, honey. You're the best."

Seeing her so happy made Alexander feel good too.

Lillian packed her sketchbook, tablet, and some snacks into her bag. She picked out a pink tracksuit, tied her hair into a high ponytail, and threw on a baseball cap, looking super energetic.

As they were about to leave, Kelly worriedly asked, "It's raining today. Are you sure you want to go out? What about lunch?"

Lillian cheerfully replied, "I'm just going to the office. I'll eat in the cafeteria at noon."

"Is the cafeteria food okay?" Kelly checked the time. "I'll bring you lunch at noon."

"Kelly, don't bother. It's too far," Lillian said, giving Alexander a discreet squeeze on the arm.

Catching the hint, Alexander said, "Kelly, don't worry. Just pack the food, and I'll have Kevin come back to get it."

"Alright," Kelly said, feeling relieved. She then reminded, "Be careful. If there's nothing to do, just rest in Mr. Sinclair's lounge, okay?"

Lillian replied, "Got it!"

On the way to the office, they passed a coffee shop, and Lillian bought a cup for everyone in the secretarial office. When the car was parked in the underground garage, Lillian suddenly asked, "If I just walk into the office with you, won't they be surprised?"

Alexander replied, "It doesn't matter. Remember the video of us kissing that went viral?"

Hearing him bring it up, she suddenly remembered.

Lillian remarked, "As long as they know. I just don't want to shock them too much."

Alexander teased, "You're a very considerate CEO's wife, always thinking about the employees."

When they got out of the elevator, Kevin followed behind with the coffee. Lillian, holding Alexander's arm, walked calmly past the secretarial office.

Everyone there had been carefully selected by Kaitlyn. They were all composed, focused on their work, and uninterested in their boss's gossip. Kevin handed out the coffee, and everyone remained calm.

"Shirley!" Lillian stood in front of Shirley's desk and called out.

Shirley looked up, saw Lillian, and exclaimed in surprise, hugging her joyfully.

Alexander said helplessly, "Be gentle. Come in after you're done chatting."
