Chapter 388 Gathering at Lillian's House
Soon after, it was New Year.
Alexander had planned to take Lillian to a show in the evening, to join in the festivities. But unexpectedly, early in the morning, Caspian and Tom arrived, bringing all sorts of food and drinks from their supermarket, saying they wanted to celebrate together.
Lillian watched the two of them directing the supermarket staff to move things into the kitchen and said, "Caspian, you brought way too much! We still haven't finished what we bought for Christmas."
"Tom can eat, and Mr. Wellington has a big appetite too. I also invited Jackson and Ainsley over, and with so many people in your house, we need to prepare more. By the way, call Wendy and Angela too. Has Leah come back? Invite her as well."
"Did you call Evelyn?" Wendy asked, looking at him speechlessly.
Tom said, "I called Evelyn."
Lillian said, "They'll all come in the evening, right? Just you two, the idle ones."
"Lillian, you call us idle? Tom and I are the logistics team, okay?" Caspian corrected her.
"Alright, logistics team, then help Kelly and Gina in the kitchen with logistics today. I'm going upstairs." Lillian said to Caspian and Tom, "Make yourselves at home."
Back in her room, she washed up, changed into casual clothes, and first called Wendy and Angela in the group chat to come over for dinner in the evening.
Angela quickly replied: [I'll bring Ivan along.]
Wendy replied after a while: [I have to stay at home.]
Lillian said: [Wendy, I just asked Evelyn. You can have dinner with your family first, then come over to my place. I'll ask Melvin to drive you over.]
Wendy: [Is Caspian going too? I don't want to go.]
Angela said: [We're all in the same friend group. Unless you don't want to be friends with Lillian anymore, that's the only way you won't see Caspian. If you want to move on, you shouldn't be afraid to see him. Come over in the evening.]
Wendy thought about it and realized it made sense. 'Facing it bravely is the real way to move on.' Wendy said she would come over after having dinner with her family.
After inviting her friends, Lillian started to get busy with work. The serialized comic she had been working on received a great response, gaining a good reputation on both magazines and websites, and she had accumulated a wave of fans. The editor encouraged her to continue creating and to start thinking about the next story. Such good news undoubtedly gave her a lot of motivation. Reading the comments from her fans every day made her excited for quite a while.
Just like that, Lillian worked until the afternoon, feeling sore and tired, and finally stood up to stretch. She then went to play with William and Henry for a while before returning to her room to continue working.
Suddenly, Alexander pushed the door open and came in. She asked in surprise, "Honey, when did you get back? Just now?"
"I was downstairs talking with Caspian and Tom for a while." Alexander said, standing in front of the wardrobe changing clothes, helplessly saying, "Our house is almost like a base camp now."
"After you left, Caspian and Tom came over and brought so much stuff." Lillian said, looking down at her drawing, a bit disappointed, "Looks like we won't be able to go out to see the show tonight."
"No worries, the show runs for three days. I'll take you out tomorrow night." Alexander said after changing his clothes, "I'll go check on William and Henry, then you come downstairs with me."
"Okay." Lillian looked up at Alexander and said.
The first to arrive were Jackson and his wife. They hadn't seen each other during Christmas, but they looked in good spirits. Lucas was overjoyed to see his parents and dragged them to his room.
Next to arrive was Theodore. Mr. Wellington finally didn't hitch a ride today and drove over himself.
"I was thinking of spending the holiday alone today, maybe working at the law firm, but you guys are really quick."
Caspian scorned Theodore, saying, "Another year has passed. Can you stop thinking about work all the time? Consider your marriage prospects, will you? You and Angela, I think you two are great together. Make an effort to develop that."
Lillian came downstairs just in time to hear Caspian playing matchmaker and said with a cold smile, "Caspian, since when did you become a matchmaker? Sorry, but our Angela is already taken."
"Really? She found someone?" Caspian asked in surprise.
Theodore's brow furrowed, but he said nothing.
Lillian sat down and said, "She met her boyfriend in Atlanta. We even had dinner together. He's a great guy."
Caspian laughed mischievously, nudging Theodore with his shoulder and teasing, "You didn't pursue her actively, and now you regret it, don't you?"
Theodore frowned and said unhappily, "Stop talking nonsense. Angela and I are just friends."
Lillian also said a bit regretfully, "Mr. Wellington, we thought you and Angela would hit it off. Maybe you two just aren't meant to be."
Theodore smiled calmly, "Maybe."
As they were chatting, Angela arrived with Ivan. After some introductions, everyone sat down to chat.
Not long after, Evelyn and Amos also arrived.
"What's going on? I told Evelyn to come by herself, why did she bring Amos along!" Tom grumbled unhappily.
Lillian whispered, "They're already here, don't say anything."
After greeting everyone, Evelyn saw Ivan and asked with a smile, "Who's this handsome guy?"
Ivan stood up generously and introduced himself, "Hi, I'm Angela's boyfriend."
Evelyn was stunned, "Angela's boyfriend? Hi, I'm Evelyn."
She thought to herself, 'Angela, who is usually so aloof and sharp-tongued, found a boyfriend who seems quite nice.'
Most of the guests had arrived, but dinner wasn't ready yet. Caspian organized a card game, and those who wanted to play joined in. Evelyn and Amos went to the cinema. The lively living room suddenly quieted down, leaving only Lillian, Angela, and Ivan.
"You guys sit tight, I'll go check in the kitchen." Lillian got up and went to the kitchen.
In the kitchen, the chef was busy. Kelly saw her come in and asked, "Lillian, what's up?"
Lillian sat down at the table to help Gina with the vegetables and said, "Nothing much, Caspian and the others are playing cards, and the baby is sleeping. I came to see if you need any help."
"There's not much to help with here. Gina and I can handle it." Kelly then said to Gina, "Continue your story, what happened next?"
Lillian asked curiously, "What's going on?"
Gina looked a bit embarrassed and said, "It's nothing, just that I heard some stories about Mr. Wellington when I was at Sinclair Villa. I just recalled it when I saw him earlier and mentioned it to Kelly."
