Chapter 179 Do You Want to See Them?
Evelyn shot him a look. "Don't mess with her. She's a good girl."
"Hey, I'm a good guy," Caspian fired back, sounding all hurt. "You don't like me, but maybe she already digs me after yesterday's little adventure."
"You?" Evelyn leaned on the table, smirking. "Seems you have a distorted view of yourself, go check yourself out in the bathroom mirror. Don't get too full of yourself."
"If that's how you see it, then I gotta prove myself and show you my charm," Caspian said, getting all serious.
Evelyn frowned a bit. "OK, you won. You're charming. I admit it. Now, just go."
"Fine, I'm out. Gonna see my girlfriend," Caspian said, standing up slowly.
Evelyn called after him, "Are you for real?"
"What's the deal? You jealous?" Caspian turned back with a cheeky grin. "If you don't want me to go see her, just say so. I'll give you a chance. Won't hold it against you for kicking me."
Evelyn snapped, "Go find her already. It'd be awesome if you get her, so you won't bug me anymore. I'd be free!"
"Alright, you said it. Don't regret it later!" Caspian didn't expect her to be so harsh. With a hint of pain in his eyes, he stormed out, slamming the door.
After seeing him leave all pissed, Evelyn thought she might've overreacted. Would he really go find Wendy? He could do anything. She wasn't jealous, but she worried he'd go to Wendy out of spite, act all sincere, and mess with her head, which would be a disaster.
Sure enough, Caspian left the office and went to the front desk to ask where Wendy worked. Following the directions, he found the design department.
He stood at the door, scoped the place out, and saw Wendy at the far end, focused on her computer. She was fair-skinned, slender, and had delicate features.
He raised an eyebrow, smiled, and with a predatory gaze, he walked towards her.
"Wendy," he said gently as he plopped down in an empty seat next to her. "I'll treat you to lunch today as an apology."
Wendy, deep in her work, was startled by his sudden appearance and quickly said, "No need, it's all in the past."
Caspian replied, "That's not right. It was my bad yesterday. Don't refuse, just listen to me. It's settled." He added, "Don't worry about Ms. Phillips. She asked me to come find you."
"Ms. Phillips?" Wendy was puzzled, thinking, 'If Ms. Phillips had instructed Mr. Wade, I can't refuse.' She didn't expect Ms. Phillips to be so considerate of her feelings.
"Well, if it's Ms. Phillips' idea, then let's have lunch together," Wendy agreed.
Caspian stood up and said, "Get back to work. I'll come get you during lunch break."
"Okay." Watching him leave, Wendy sighed inwardly. 'Lunch is gonna be awkward.'
Luke finished his therapy session and came out. Seeing Alexander and Lillian waiting, he felt relieved and nestled into Lillian's arms.
Alexander ruffled Luke's hair, stood up, and asked Dr. Thompson, "How'd it go today?"
Dr. Thompson gave a reassuring smile. "Really well. He opened up a lot." She glanced at Lillian and asked, "Is this Lillian? Luke seems to lean on her a lot, like a mom."
"Yeah, Lillian's been amazing with him," Alexander said. "So, will it be tough for him to sleep in his own room?"
Dr. Thompson shook her head. "From our chat today, he didn't seem too hung up on it. The trauma from his childhood has eased a lot thanks to Lillian. Have her talk to him more about it at home, and he'll be sleeping on his own soon."
Alexander looked pleased and asked, "Do you think he's more cheerful and mature than before?"
"He's changed a lot. I remember your last visit. It was a while ago. This time, I was surprised. Lillian deserves most of the credit for giving him motherly love and teaching him a lot," Dr. Thompson said.
Alexander nodded, thanked Dr. Thompson, and then asked, "When should we come back?"
"It depends on how he's doing. I think he'll be fine sleeping on his own. With a normal, loving family life, he'll gradually forget the past," Dr. Thompson replied.
Alexander thanked Dr. Thompson again and left the clinic holding Luke's hand with Lillian.
"Uncle Alexander, do we have to come back?" Luke asked.
Alexander started the car and said, "Dr. Thompson praised you just now, saying you've made great progress. If you keep it up, we won't need to come back for a long time."
"Really? That's awesome! I'll do my best!" Luke cheered.
Alexander said, "You should thank Lillian. Without her, you wouldn't have made such progress," He looked at Lillian and teased, "Dr. Thompson praised you too."
"It's only right that I'm good to Luke," Lillian said with a gentle smile.
The car headed to the amusement park. It was packed because it was the weekend and the weather was nice. Alexander's bodyguards formed a protective circle behind him. However, their casual clothes helped them blend in with the crowd, preventing the family from being the center of attention.
"That's David!" Luke pointed and shouted, recognizing one of the bodyguards.
"David?" Lillian looked in the direction he pointed and saw a tall man standing not far away.
"Who is David?" she asked.
Alexander whispered beside her, "David Garcia is one of our bodyguards. With so many people today, I had them follow us."
Lillian quickly looked around and asked, "How many did you bring? On TV, bodyguards are always big men in black suits. Why do your bodyguards look like idols?"
"What's an idol?" Alexander asked curiously.
"Like a celebrity," Lillian whispered. "David is quite handsome. Are the others as good-looking?"
Alexander smiled slightly. "They're all quite handsome. Do you want to see them?"
