Chapter 416 Taking Her to Work

Wendy changed her clothes, washed up, and came out of her room to go to the dining room for breakfast.

"Feeling better?" Jessica placed a glass of milk in front of her and asked sarcastically.

Patrick gave Jessica a look and then asked his daughter, "Does your head hurt? Your mother was worried about your stomach, so she specially made you some milk."

"Thanks, Mom."

Wendy took a few sips of the milk and suddenly asked, "Dad, who brought me home last night?"

"Who else? Lillian and Angela, of course," Jessica interjected, then scolded, "Three girls going out drinking, what if something happened? You can't do this anymore, understand?"

Wendy didn't bother arguing with Jessica. She quickly ate a few bites and then left the house.

As soon as she stepped out of the elevator, she ran into Curtis, who was coming back with groceries.

"Wendy, heading to work?" Curtis took an apple out of his pocket and handed it to her, saying, "Here, it's sweet!"

"Thanks, Curtis." Wendy happily accepted it.

"Wendy, I saw Caspian carrying you home last night. You two are still so close. I'm looking forward to your wedding."

"What?" Wendy was stunned and quickly tried to explain, "Curtis, it's not—"

"Don't say anything, just go, or you'll be late for work. I need to get back too," Curtis said, entering the elevator.

Wendy looked at the red apple in her hand and smiled helplessly.

As she walked out of the complex, she heard someone calling her name. She turned around and saw Caspian leaning against his car, waving at her.

In the morning light, Caspian looked handsome and elegant, with a reserved smile on his lips. Wendy squinted slightly against the light, her heart pounding.

Wendy walked towards him and stood in front of him, looking up slightly and asking softly, "You're here to get your phone back, right?"

"Yeah." Caspian coughed lightly into his fist, "I don't even know when I dropped it at your place."

Wendy took the phone out of her bag and handed it to him, "Here you go."

Caspian took it and smiled, "How did you know it was my phone?"

"The phone case, I remembered," Wendy said, then felt her words were inappropriate. She turned her head and tucked her hair behind her ear, saying, "Well, I've returned your phone. I'm off to work."

"I'll give you a ride. Get in the car," Caspian said, opening the car door.

Wendy hesitated and said, "It's no trouble. I'll take the subway; it's faster."

Caspian leaned on the car door, looking at her with some confusion, and asked in a deep voice, "Wendy, are we still friends? Are we so distant now?"

"That's not what I meant," Wendy said. "I'm just thinking of you. You're helping Ms. Phillips with her family matters, you must be very busy. I don't want to bother you."

"I didn't realize you were so understanding," Caspian said with a stern expression, grabbing her arm and pushing her into the car.

Wendy sat in the passenger seat, watching Caspian walk around the front of the car, her heart suddenly pounding again.

This pounding reminded her of Aaron. When she was with Aaron, her heart would race and her face would flush, but that feeling was fleeting and quickly forgotten.

But with Caspian, the heartbeat was a different feeling—shy, nervous, a little happy, and a bit of anticipation. Overall, the feeling made her very happy.

"What are you thinking about?"

Caspian got in the car and saw her daydreaming. He knocked on her head and then leaned closer to her.

"What are you doing?" Wendy instinctively leaned back, asking in surprise.

Caspian smiled at her, reaching across her chest to pull the seatbelt over.

Wendy pursed her lips, turned to look out the window, not wanting him to see her embarrassment, and said nervously, "You could have just told me, I can do it myself."

"It's no trouble." Caspian sat up straight and started the car.

The car moved smoothly, but the road to work was very congested. Caspian tried to take less crowded routes, but they still got stuck in traffic.

"By the way, when you brought me home last night, did my parents say anything to you?" Wendy suddenly asked.

Caspian said, "No, they were very nice. Molly was also happy to see me."

"And also, I ran into Curtis this morning. He said you carried me home? I blacked out last night and don't remember. I didn't say anything crazy to you, did I? Even if I did, don't take it seriously, it was just drunk talk."

Caspian chuckled and said, "I don't know, what kind of talk is considered crazy?"

"So what did I say?" Wendy asked.

"Not much, you just sang a song for me," Caspian said with a teasing tone.

Wendy covered her face and shook her head, saying, "Stop talking."

"On the way home, you asked me a lot of questions. Want to hear them?" he asked with a mischievous smile.

Wendy glanced at him and leaned against the car window, saying, "I don't want to hear!"

"Okay, if you don't want to hear, I won't say," Caspian said with a smile, glancing at her.

The car slowly moved forward and got back on the road.

Wendy was wondering, 'What did I ask him last night? His smirk means I asked something unusual. Oh no, did I confess to him again? Please, no!'

Suddenly, Caspian's phone rang. He answered, "Tom."

'Tom?' Wendy looked over, feeling a bit annoyed. Although she had willingly been with Aaron Tom as the matchmaker, she still held some resentment, which naturally extended to him. But despite her thoughts, Wendy didn't show any displeasure on her face.

Wendy couldn't hear what Tom was saying on the phone, but Caspian scolded him, "If it weren't for your random matchmaking, Wendy wouldn't have been deceived! This is all your fault! Why introduce a boyfriend? Just take care of yourself!"

"Whether he's gay or not, I won't say, but his character is questionable! How can he be the lead actor? What if he negatively impacts the unreleased film?"

Wendy listened, it seemed like Aaron had some issues with his acting.

Caspian continued, "He has no principles! Even if he doesn't respect us, doesn't he respect Alexander? When the Carter family was in trouble, the Sinclair family helped them. Wendy is Lillian's friend, which makes her Alexander's friend, practically part of the Sinclair family. He has the nerve to mess with someone from the Sinclair family!"
