Chapter 241 Amos Is A Two-faced Person
The shout made everyone look over at them.
Feeling awkward, Amos wiped away his smile and said to Caspian, "Mr. Wade, I was just smiling politely, nothing more."
Evelyn, who was chatting with Lillian, heard the commotion and came over. She glanced at Caspian and sat down next to Amos.
"Amos, grill me a chicken wing," Evelyn said.
Amos handed Evelyn a grilled chicken wing from the wire rack and smiled. "I know you love them, so I grilled one for you earlier. It's extra spicy."
Feeling like a clown being watched by everyone, Caspian turned around silently.
"Caspian, come on. I grilled a drumstick for you. It's delicious!" Tom handed it to him, trying to break the awkwardness with a joke.
"Get lost!" Caspian cursed, standing up angrily and heading into the house.
Theodore smiled helplessly and said to Tom, "You really know how to make him even angrier."
Amos whispered to Evelyn, "Mr. Wade seems to have misunderstood me. I'll explain to him. We're here to have fun; I don't want to ruin the mood because of me."
Evelyn grabbed him and said calmly, "Don't go. If you do, he'll make a bigger fuss. Just ignore him."
Amos looked up through the villa window, a barely noticeable smile on his lips.
Lillian was eating some fruit with Alexander by her side. She said sympathetically, "Caspian is so pitiful."
"He wouldn't be if he weren't so stubborn," Alexander said, his hand moving over her bump.
She responded, "It's true. However, honestly, letting go of someone you love is really hard. Honey, if we ever broke up, what would you do? You're so rational; you wouldn't be like Caspian, right?"
Alexander replied slowly, "I don't know what I would do. I know we won't break up."
"You're so confident!" Lillian laughed. "You're just saying nice things to make me happy."
Alexander smiled helplessly and changed the subject, asking, "Why isn't the baby moving? I've been feeling for a while now."
Lillian replied, "Maybe the baby in my bell is sleeping. I read online that in the early stages, the movements can be very light, and we might not notice them."
After talking, Lillian wondered, 'Why did he not continue the conversation? Was he really just saying nice things to make me happy?' She quickly shook her head to dismiss the thought. 'Don't always think like that. His assurance that we won't break up is the greatest comfort. Why worry unnecessarily?' With that thought, she felt a bit more at ease.
Caspian exited the bathroom and saw Amos fixing his hair in front of the mirror, waiting for someone to come out. Earlier, Caspian had been drinking alone at the bar, feeling down, and the sight of Amos now only fueled his anger.
"Mr. Wade, won't you come out and have a drink with us?" Amos stood in front of Caspian, both of them about the same height, looking at each other.
Caspian sneered. "What for? To flaunt your victory?"
"I wouldn't call it flaunting, but as for being the victor, I certainly am," Amos replied with feigned humility, further enraging Caspian.
He said mockingly, "Mr. Wade, I assumed someone from a wealthy family like yours would be quite impressive in Rihegde. Haven't you encountered all kinds of women? How can you be so infatuated with Evelyn? It doesn't match your playboy image!"
"None of your business!" Caspian said through gritted teeth. "I don't need to fit any so-called image!"
Amos smiled again. "Suit yourself. I know seeing me makes you angry. Honestly, I didn't expect Evelyn to be so easy to win over. Maybe she prefers guys like me. In the end, Mr. Wade, your approach doesn't appeal to her. Naturally, you couldn't win her over."
'What kind of taste does Evelyn have? Is she blind? How could she choose such a scumbag! What does Amos have that I don't?' Caspian cursed Evelyn in his heart. 'How could I tolerate Amos's arrogance in front of me? Winning over Evelyn and then daring to boast in front of me, Amos must ignore how tough I am in Rihegde!'
While Amos was still feeling smug, he suddenly felt a gust of wind sweep across his cheek, followed by intense pain as he was knocked to the ground.
"You pursued Evelyn and dated her just for one reason: to gain her connections," Caspian said, grabbing his collar with a sinister smile. Today, I'll show you just how powerful her connections are. Let's see if you dare use them!"
With that, he raised his fist and punched Amos in the nose. Blood immediately gushed from Amos's nose.
Amos wasn't one to swallow his pride and quickly fought back. The two of them started brawling.
"Evelyn, look!" Lucas shouted, holding a piece of grilled meat in one hand and pointing to the villa with the other. "Amos and Caspian are fighting!"
Everyone looked over and saw the living room had turned into a battlefield.
"Are they crazy?" Evelyn ran towards the villa, followed closely by Theodore and the others.
Alexander said to Lillian, "Stay out of this. I'll go check it out."
Lillian watched, wondering, 'What had happened to make the two of them start fighting.'
In the living room, Caspian had Amos pinned down, punching him. Evelyn rushed over and grabbed his arm, angrily shouting, "Caspian, stop it!"
Theodore and Jackson came over and pulled Caspian up. "What's going on?"
"He deserved it!" Caspian wiped his mouth.
Evelyn helped Amos up and asked worriedly, "Are you good?"
She then turned and shouted at Caspian, "Caspian! Why did you hit him?"
Hearing her question, Caspian laughed angrily. "Was it just me hitting him? I got hit, too. Didn't you see?"
"I only saw you pinning Amos down and hitting him! Are you crazy?" Evelyn yelled at him. "What right do you have to hit my boyfriend? Are you angry? Take it out on me if you have the guts!"
Amos, holding his side, weakly tried to calm her down. "Evelyn, I'm fine. Don't argue with Mr. Wade."
"Explain yourself!" Caspian said through gritted teeth, pointing at him. "Don't play innocent! We were clearly fighting each other."
Amos nodded. "Yes, we were fighting, and neither of us took advantage of it. Mr. Wade, can we stop arguing? If you don't like me, I'll leave now. Your friends are here; don't make it awkward for them."
The more Caspian listened, the angrier he got. Amos made it sound like he had suffered the most. Amos was truly a two-faced person.
