Chapter 398 Valentine's Day Gift
"Then where do you want to have the wedding?" Alexander asked in return.
"Haven't decided yet." Lillian closed her eyes and said, "The kid is growing up day by day, and I feel like whether we have a wedding or not doesn't matter. Everyone already knows I'm your wife."
"That's not acceptable. You must have a grand wedding!" Alexander's hand changed from pressing to tapping as he said, "I knew you didn't care about the wedding as much as I did. I wanted to surprise you, but you wouldn't let me keep it a secret. When I ask for your opinion, you think the wedding is a hassle. Why are you so hard to please?"
Lillian pouted and said, "If you don't want to please me, then don't."
Alexander immediately leaned down, his heavy body pressing down on her, and whispered in her ear, "What? I have made you comfortable, but you won't need me to please you anymore?"
His cheesy words gave her goosebumps.
"Honey, get up, you're crushing me."
Alexander laughed and teasingly asked, "Your ears are so red, are you shy?"
"Mr. Sinclair, I'm tired today, please let me go," Ms. Hill pleaded.
"You don't have to move, I'll do it," Alexander said softly to her, then continued to kiss her.
They didn't come to a conclusion about the wedding, and in the end, they decided that Alexander would handle everything. Lillian would agree to whatever he arranged and just show up.
Wendy woke up in the morning, squinting as she checked her phone. At 2 AM, Aaron had sent her a message on Facebook.
[Baby, I finished too late, so I didn't call you to avoid disturbing your sleep. I'll pick you up from work today.]
Wendy rubbed her eyes, 'Baby? Isn't that a bit too intimate? It's only the second day. Pick me up from work? Won't my colleagues see?'
She replied, [If you're busy, you don't have to go out of your way to pick me up. Shouldn't you be keeping a low profile at this critical moment?]
After sending the message, she didn't get a reply for a long time, guessing he was still asleep.
On a spacious, soft bed, Aaron was sleeping soundly when suddenly, an arm reached out from beside him and gently pushed him.
"What?" Aaron asked lazily, then turned over and snuggled closer, wrapping his arms around the waist of the person sitting next to him.
"What's up?" he asked.
The person beside him read Wendy's message to Aaron and said, "Your little girlfriend seems to care about you."
"Jealous?" Aaron asked with a smile, his face pressed tightly against the other person's waist, eyes still closed.
The person beside him put the phone on the nightstand and sneered, "Jealous? You must be underestimating me."
"Stay with me a bit longer," Aaron said, pulling the person's arm back under the covers.
"Don't rush," Aaron said meaningfully.
In the evening, Wendy finished work and received a call from Aaron before leaving the studio.
"I was afraid coming to your studio might cause you trouble, so I'm parked across the street. Just come over when you're done."
Wendy thought he was considerate and said, "I'm coming out now, be there soon."
A few minutes later, Wendy got into the car. Before getting in, she looked around, worried that entertainment reporters might be hiding in the shadows.
After getting in, Aaron laughed and said, "You don't have to be so nervous. The trending has been handled by my agent, and there are no entertainment reporters following us for now."
"How did they handle it?" she asked curiously.
Aaron said, "The company's idea was that since we were suddenly discovered by entertainment reporters and the fans were supportive, they wanted me to take advantage of the situation and go public, to build an image of someone who dares to take responsibility. I didn't agree immediately and wanted to ask for your opinion."
"Go public?" Wendy hesitated and said, "Isn't that too fast? I haven't even told my parents yet."
Aaron said seriously, "It is a bit fast. I considered that too. So, I'll go back to the company and wait for a better time to go public."
"Won't you lose fans' attention that way?"
"No. The photos weren't very clear, and there's still a lot of debate. Don't worry, in a few days, no one will remember this. There will be new gossip to cover it up," Aaron said nonchalantly.
Hearing this, Wendy felt relieved.
Aaron took her hand and asked, "How about I take you out for seafood?"
Wendy instinctively pulled back a bit and said, "I'm afraid I might be allergic to seafood."
"Then how about barbecue? Do you like it?"
"Sure, I love barbecue."
Wendy smiled, still feeling a bit strange about dating her idol.
Days passed uneventfully, and soon it was Valentine's Day.
Coincidentally, the Rihegde Chamber of Commerce was hosting a charity ball that day, and all the businessmen and wealthy people in Rihegde were attending with their partners.
Before leaving in the afternoon, Lillian stood unhappily in front of the mirror in the walk-in closet, looking at herself in a white mermaid evening gown, and said reluctantly, "Alexander, can I not go? It's Valentine's Day."
Alexander, standing back-to-back with her, adjusted his tie in the mirror and said, "If you don't go, who will you spend Valentine's Day with? I can't skip this event, but I can take you out early."
Lillian pouted and said, "I wanted to have a romantic Valentine's Day with you tonight, but it seems impossible."
She took out a box from the jewelry drawer and said, "At an event like this, you won't be able to leave early. You'll be surrounded. Let me give you your Valentine's Day gift now, so you won't be too drunk to appreciate it later."
Alexander walked over, gently wrapped his arm around her shoulder, looked at her lovingly, and coaxed, "Don't be upset. What did you get me?"
"I used my first paycheck and added a bit more to buy it for you."
Alexander opened the box to reveal a silver watch.
"This is for me?" he asked, overjoyed, eagerly taking the watch off his wrist.
"Of course" Lillian said, "It's not a big brand, can't compare to your expensive watches."
"What are you talking about? This is the best, priceless!" Alexander put on the new watch, shook his wrist in front of her, and happily asked, "Do I look good?"
Lillian nodded, "Of course!"
Her gaze shifted from the watch to the tree-shaped brooch on his suit, and she held out her hand, tilting her head and asking, "Where's my Valentine's Day gift?"
