Chapter 157 Shae's Fury
They recently added each other on Facebook. After becoming friends, they rarely messaged. Alexander and Lillian didn't post much on Facebook. It seemed neither of them were fond of posting on Facebook
Alexander was in a conference when his phone buzzed twice and displayed 'Princess Seven' on the screen. He leaned forward, grabbed the phone, and read the message. After reading the screenshot, he laughed silently and clicked the link.
In the video, he and she exchanged smiles, his sudden kiss, her startled reaction—all captured in the footage. As he watched, a smile crept onto his lips, and he felt a sense of satisfaction, saving the video.
"Mr. Sinclair, as of now, we have utilized all available resources," the head of the marketing department reported, awaiting Alexander's instructions.
But the CEO seemed not to be paying attention, engrossed in his phone.
"Mr. Sinclair?" He called out again, glancing confusedly at his colleagues.
It was the first time the subordinates had seen their boss not paying attention during a meeting, and they were all astonished.
After replying to Lillian's message, Alexander said, "I'm listening, go on."
Having finished her breakfast, Lillian sat on the living room sofa, watching the video views climb rapidly, utterly surprised. She guessed that the video was likely shot and uploaded online by a customer at the restaurant yesterday.
Her phone buzzed with a message from Alexander: [The video is well-shot.] It was simple and straightforward and had nothing more.
Lillian smiled wryly at her phone and replied: [Mr. Sinclair, have you forgotten we're secretly married? If this gets out, it won't be good.]
Alexander: [We already have a child, so let's not keep it a secret anymore. If this bothers you, I'll have someone handle it right now.]
Lillian: [I'm fine, as long as you don't see a problem.]
In the executive office, Shae frowned angrily at the video link. She clenched her jaw, thinking, 'Alexander couldn't do this behind my back! He might not care about me, but didn't he care about Amy? If it weren't for him, Amy wouldn't have died.' The more she thought about it, the angrier she got, clenching her fists so tightly that her nails pressed into her palms.
The internal phone at Shirley's desk rang, snapping Shae out of her rage. Seeing Shirley in the printing room, she picked up the call.
"Shirley, come over here. I have something for you to do," Kaitlyn said briefly before ending up the phone.
Shae sneered, stood up, straightened her clothes, composed herself, and went to Kaitlyn's office.
"Kaitlyn," Shae said with a smile, standing in front of her desk. "Shirley is busy. Is there something I can do for you?"
Kaitlyn, busy with her work, asked, "Did you answer the phone just now? Get Shirley for me."
"Kaitlyn, I can do it too. I'm not any worse than her," Shae said. "Also, since Ms. Hill isn't coming to work, I'd like to apply to be your assistant."
Kaitlyn slammed the folder shut and sternly said, "Shae, I hope you understand! Now you're an intern. You're not qualified to help Shirley or be my assistant! Please resume work immediately!"
Shae, reprimanded, looked upset. "Kaitlyn, I am qualified! I have a good relationship with Alexander, and I won't betray the company's secrets."
"Shae, don't talk to me about it! Here, you must follow the company's rules and regulations, and even Mr. Sinclair has no exception!" Kaitlyn said firmly.
Shae glared at her, lips pressed into a tight line, too angry to speak.
As the two faced off, Alexander returned from his meeting. He walked briskly over and said to Kaitlyn, "Bring the BlueSky Ventures proposal to my office."
"Yes, Mr. Sinclair." Kaitlyn quickly pulled a folder from a stack and headed to the office.
As she passed Shae, she said coldly, "Don't just stand there. Get back to work!"
Shae shot a venomous look at Kaitlyn's back, seething with anger.
When Kaitlyn delivered the file, Alexander asked, "What happened between you two just now?"
"Shae wanted to apply to be my assistant. I didn't agree because she's still an intern," Kaitlyn said.
Alexander nodded. "You did right."
Kaitlyn continued, "Since Ms. Hill isn't coming to work, Mr. Sinclair, the assistant post must be filled. I favor Shirley for the role. She's quick-witted, reliable, and has completed her internship. I want her as my assistant."
Alexander said, "It's your assistant, so you decide."
Kaitlyn said, "I'll head out then."
Alexander refused to intervene in Shae and Kaitlyn's dispute. He knew Shae's fury. He was also informed of company rumors. For business and personal reasons, keeping her in the company was bad. He needed to find a good time to fire her.
Kaitlyn returned to the executive office and said to Shirley, "Shirley, since Ms. Hill isn't here, you can temporarily be my assistant."
Shirley was overjoyed and said happily, "Thank you, Kaitlyn."
The other secretaries in the office congratulated her. Listening nearby, Shae said sarcastically, "It's just an assistant position. I don't see what's worth celebrating."
"You're just jealous of me," Shirley retorted directly, not one to tolerate Shae's attitude, and then happily went to Kaitlyn's office.
Shae was fuming! She felt bullied all morning and was really frustrated!
Her phone on the desk buzzed. She picked it up and saw, "Shae, come over to my office. I have some important news to tell you."
Shae raised an eyebrow at the message, grabbed a folder, and left the executive office.
Soon it was noon. Lillian had just walked a few laps around the backyard with her grandmother in the morning. They returned inside when the wind blew. Kelly asked what they wanted for lunch, and Lillian said she wasn't hungry.
"Even if you're not hungry, eat something. My great-grandchild can't go hungry," Linda said to Kelly. "Make her a bowl of pasta."
"Yes," Kelly replied. Just then, she heard the phone ring at the front door and hurried over to answer it.
"Mrs. Sinclair, Aunt Lisa and Lola are here," the call was from the gate security, and Kelly, after taking the message, looked cautiously at Linda and then at Lillian.
Lillian panicked inside. With Linda here, she couldn't let Aunt Lisa in. But how could she refuse without a good explanation?
Upon hearing this, Linda quickly said to Kelly, "Is Aunt Lisa visiting? Then hurry and let them in. Tell the security to bring them to the door."
