Chapter 180 Taking a Photo with Alexander
Lillian, always sharp as a tack, flashed a killer smile and said, "No, I don't want to see them. They are not as attractive as you."
Alexander, clearly digging the compliment, gave her hand a squeeze. "Glad you say that."
Lillian shot a glance at Luke, and they both cracked up.
Given Lillian's situation, Alexander didn't hang around the amusement park too long. When he suggested bouncing, Luke was a bit bummed but went along with it.
As they strolled past the Ferris wheel, Lillian turned to Luke. "Hey, let's hit the Ferris wheel before we bail, cool?"
"Sure thing," Luke said, grinning a bit.
They all hopped into a cabin, and the Ferris wheel started its slow climb.
"Luke, check it out. That's the way to our place," she said, pointing.
"Lillian, look down. We're way up here!" Luke, totally chill with heights, peered down.
Lillian whipped out her phone, snapping a few pics of Luke across from her, then taking some selfies with him. Alexander, sitting next to them, couldn't help but ask, "What, no pics with me? Am I a ghost or something?"
Lillian laughed and put down her phone. "You into selfies?"
"Not really. But I want some with you." Alexander gave her a playful glare, then lifted her hand holding the phone and brought it in front of them.
"Can you handle these cute stickers?" Lillian had picked a cat whiskers filter.
In the phone's camera, with the stickers, Alexander lost his usual cool and looked hilariously confused.
"You dig this?" he asked.
"If you don't, I'll switch it up," Lillian offered.
"Nah, it's cool," Alexander said.
In the camera, their heads were close together, like two little kittens. Alexander's face was a bit stiff, and Lillian was both nervous and excited, since it was their first time taking such close-up pics together.
The phone clicked, capturing the moment.
"I wanna see!" Luke's head popped over excitedly. "Lillian and Uncle Alexander look so cute! Use the bride-and-groom sticker, Lillian. We took one earlier, and you had a wedding veil."
A bit embarrassed, Lillian put away her phone. "Not really feeling that one."
"You said you loved it, especially the wedding veil effect," Luke insisted.
Lillian looked out the window, internally screaming, "Shut up, don't say anymore!" She worried Alexander might get the wrong idea.
Alexander looked at her. "What's it look like? Lemme see."
Knowing she couldn't dodge it, Lillian reluctantly found the photo and showed it to him. "It's just for fun, doesn't mean anything."
After checking it out, Alexander smiled. "If you hadn't said that last part, I wouldn't have thought much of it."
'What the heck? Now you're overthinking it? Do you think I wanna take wedding photos?' Lillian thought, shocked. How did things get so complicated? It was supposed to be just a simple selfie.
"Alexander, don't get the wrong idea. I don't have any hidden motives," Lillian said.
"Chill, I was just messing with you." Alexander chuckled. Seeing her still eager to explain but unsure how, he gently turned towards the window. "Stop staring at me and enjoy the view."
The Ferris wheel had hit its peak, offering a killer view. Lillian gradually calmed down, thinking, 'No need to explain; It'll make me seem like I care too much.' With that thought, she felt a wave of relief.
Back on the ground, they headed towards the exit. Luke was craving steak, and since Lillian could eat it during her pregnancy, Alexander decided to hit up a Spanish restaurant.
It was Lillian's first time at such a swanky joint. Alexander was totally at ease, clearly a regular. She glanced at Luke, who also seemed completely chill. Meanwhile, she felt awkward and nervous.
They sat at a table, and the waiter stood by, waiting for their order.
Lillian opened the menu and her eyes widened. It was all in Spanish. She suddenly realized why Kaitlyn had suggested she learn a minor language.
"Lillian, I want this," Luke said, pointing to a picture on the menu.
"Tell Alexander, I can't read this," Lillian said.
Alexander smoothly placed the order, and the waiter bowed slightly before leaving.
"It's my first time at such a fancy place. It feels really different," Lillian said, looking around like a kid in a candy store.
"There will be plenty more chances," Alexander said, noticing the sparkle in her eyes and feeling a twinge of guilt.
In the afternoon, they headed back home. Lillian and Luke, both wiped out, took showers and crashed, while Alexander went to his study to work.
Suddenly, his phone buzzed with a message from Shae: [Alexander, don't forget Paula's birthday party. She asked about you today.]
Alexander replied: [I won't be attending your mother's birthday. I'll send a gift. And from now on, call me Mr. Sinclair.]
Shae stared angrily at her phone and typed a curt: [Okay.]
Wendy had an awkward lunch with Caspian, just as she expected. During the meal, she didn't know what to say, and he wasn't very interested, barely touching his food. When they did talk, it was mostly about Evelyn. After the meal, he dropped her off at the studio, and she felt relieved to escape the car.
The receptionist saw her return and quickly called her over, gossiping, "What happened? Did Mr. Wade take you out for lunch?"
Wendy didn't want to say much and vaguely replied, "Not really, it was Ms. Phillips' idea."
"Ms. Phillips?" The receptionist was surprised and was about to say more when they heard Evelyn's voice behind them. "Why are you calling me?"
They looked up in surprise and fell silent upon seeing Evelyn.
Evelyn looked at Wendy and asked, "Did you go out for lunch?"
"Yeah, didn't you ask Mr. Wade to take me out? Thanks, Ms. Phillips," Wendy said.
Evelyn cursed Caspian in her heart, thinking, 'He really went to flirt with Wendy.' Feeling guilty, Evelyn said, "It's nothing, he was in the wrong and should apologize."
