Chapter 288 Blake Confesses to Shae

She walked over and asked in astonishment, "What are you doing here?"

"Are you crying?" Caspian tilted his head and looked at her, asking.

Wendy turned her face away and said, "Why are you here?"

Caspian opened the car door and said, "I knew you wouldn't be in a good mood this morning, so I came to comfort you. Please get in the car."

Wendy was touched that he came to pick her up for work so early and got into the car.

As Caspian drove towards the studio, he asked with concern, "Did you confront your parents this morning?"

Wendy mumbled, "My mom is too dominating, I have to follow her instructions on everything, and in a fit of anger, I got angry and argued with her."

Caspian said, "Did you have breakfast?"

Wendy said, "I ate a little, then stormed out of the house."

Caspian said, "No matter what happens, don't let yourself go hungry. Let me take you to breakfast first."

Wendy said, "Thank you for comforting me when I felt so helpless."

"Well, I'm your 'boyfriend', I have to fulfill my duties, right?" Caspian joked.

Wendy laughed, "Why are you saying that? You know I only said that to annoy my mom."

"Don't say that, I took it seriously," Caspian said with a smile.

Wendy laughed, "Stop it."

The car stopped in front of a breakfast diner.

Caspian unbuckled his seatbelt and said to her, "The food at this place is really good. I grew up eating breakfast here."

"Really? I never had breakfast outside when I was a kid," Wendy said as she got out of the car with him.

The waiter, who was familiar with Caspian, greeted him warmly and led them to a clean table. Caspian skillfully ordered the food.

"Are you trying to let out all your teenage rebellion now?" Caspian said with a smile. "Have you thought about what to do next?"

Wendy shook her head weakly and said, "They told me to resign and break up with you, but I refused. For now, I just don't want to listen to them anymore. I want to make my own decisions!"

Caspian said, "It's okay to think that way, but don't go overboard. After all, your parents are getting older and can't handle too much stress."

"So what do you suggest I do when they take a hard stance? Should I just give in or fight back?" Wendy asked unhappily.

Caspian said, "Don't you know how to be flexible? Maybe if you act a little spoiled and try to please them, they'll soften up and agree. Directly confronting them won't lead to any good results."

"Being coquettish? Please them?" Wendy murmured, thinking for a moment. "I don't think I've ever acted spoiled with my mom. I don't know how to do that."

Caspian was surprised, "Really? Don't you and your mom have any close mother-daughter interactions?"

"None," Wendy said, lowering her eyes in disappointment. "When I was a kid, they were so busy working that they hardly had time for me, let alone bonding. Plus, my mom's strong personality made me afraid to."

Caspian asked, "How's your relationship with your dad?"

"Not great. I'm also scared of him," Wendy sighed, looking at him pitifully. "Am I pretty miserable?"

At that moment, the waiter brought their breakfast and quickly placed it on the table before leaving.

Caspian said, "Let's eat first."

Seeing Wendy's delighted expression as she tasted the food, he couldn't help but think that Wendy was indeed quite miserable, she lacked love.

Caspian dropped Wendy off at the studio. Before getting out of the car, she said, "Thank you for driving me to work and inviting me to breakfast."

"Cheer up, it's not a big deal," Caspian said, giving her a firm pat on the back for encouragement.

Wendy forced a smile and said to herself, "I'll do my best!"

Fighting for her rights would take a long time, and she didn't know what might happen.

After days of resistance, Ethan was finally discharged from the hospital to live with Beatrice. This made Justin and Linda from the Sinclair family very angry.

Samantha was even more furious, but what could she do besides being angry? She had to face reality. This matter was most likely Beatrice who leaked the matter, causing a stir in high society circles. Samantha became a laughingstock, while Beatrice and Blake began to feel smug once again.

On the day of discharge, Shae also came to the hospital to help with the discharge procedures and then drove them home.

"Shae, sit down and rest. You've been busy all morning," Ethan said, sitting on the couch and inviting Shae to sit.

"I'm not tired," Shae said with a sweet smile. "You didn't eat much this morning. What would you and Beatrice like to eat? I'll order it for you."

Beatrice waved her hand and said, "No need. You haven't eaten either. Let Blake take you out to eat. Don't worry about us."

Blake said to her, "Shae, what do you want to eat? I'll take you."

Unable to refuse such warm hospitality Shae had no choice but to go out with Blake.

"Mr. Sinclair, if there's nothing else, I won't stay for lunch. I'll head home," Shae said, not wanting to be alone with Blake.

But Blake wasn't about to let this opportunity to get close to Shae slip away. He quickly grabbed her wrist and said, "Don't go. I have something to tell you."

He didn't give her a chance to refuse and swiftly pulled her into the car.

At a restaurant, the two sat across from each other and ordered their food.

Shae asked, "What do you want to tell me?"

Blake smiled, "Why are you so rushed?"

He chatted casually, "Shae, you know I divorced Nico. I'm single now."

"So?" Shae asked indifferently, not caring about his marital status.

Blake hesitated for a moment, then mustered up the courage to take her hand on the table. Looking into her eyes with deep emotion, he sincerely confessed, "Shae, I like you. I want you to be my girlfriend. Will you?"

Shae had anticipated this and wasn't surprised or confused. She slowly withdrew her hand, smiled charmingly, and said calmly, "Blake, thank you for liking me, but I can't be with you."

"Why? You don't like me?" Blake asked unwillingly. "Do you still like Alexander?"

A flash of determination crossed Shae's eyes as she said, "Blake, I'm going to marry Alexander. How could I accept your love?"

"Are you so sure Alexander will accept you?" Blake asked disdainfully.

Shae's lips curled into a proud and confident smile, "Of course. If you don't believe me, just wait and see."
