Chapter 103 You're the Fool
Alexander groaned from the bed but didn't get up. Lillian stood at the door, watching him motionless. After a moment of observation, she kindly went in, holding a glass of water and sitting by the bed.
Alexander's face was flushed, and his breath reeked of alcohol. Lillian struggled to help him up, placing the glass to his lips, and said, "Alexander, drink some water."
Leaning against Lillian's arms, Alexander slowly opened his eyes, tilted his head to look at her, and pulled a corner of his mouth, "Lillian?"
"It's me. Drink the coconut water first, okay? I can barely hold you up. You're so heavy!" Lillian said painfully.
Hearing this, Alexander put all his weight on her and asked with a smile, "How about this?"
Lillian was almost toppled over, nearly spilling the water. She frowned and looked at him in confusion. 'Why didn't he mistake her for his ex this time after drinking too much? Instead, he kept teasing her. Did his state change so quickly after drinking?'
Alexander pressed on her a few more times, then sat up straight, wrapped an arm around her shoulder, and poked her head with the other hand, mocking, "Lillian, why are you so dumb? Are you a fool?"
Lillian rolled her eyes, suppressing her anger.
"Why is your English so bad? Why are you so slow to react? Why are you so stupid?" Alexander complained while poking her head.
"Stop poking me! If you keep poking, you'll make a hole in my head!" Lillian irritably waved his hand away.
Alexander sneered, "Are you upset? Angry? Do even fools get angry?"
"You're the fool! Your whole family are fools!" Lillian couldn't take it anymore. She stood up abruptly, splashed the water in his face, slammed the cup on the table, and stormed out.
Even after being splashed, Alexander didn't wake up. He lay back down and fell asleep again.
Leaving the office, Lillian returned to her desk.
"How's Alexander? Why were you in there so long? Did he throw up?" Kaitlyn asked with concern.
Lillian replied, "No, he was just sleeping too soundly. I called him several times."
"Just leave the water by his side. He'll drink it when he wakes up."
Hearing Kaitlyn's words, Lillian immediately recalled Alexander's earlier complaints. It seemed she really was too dumb.
Sitting at her desk, holding Kaitlyn's car keys, Lillian braced herself for a scolding and mustered the courage to say, "Kaitlyn, I'm really sorry about something. This morning, on my way to the SK Group, I rear-ended another car."
Kaitlyn, who was drinking coffee, turned her head in surprise and asked, "You rear-ended someone? Are you okay?"
"I'm really fine." Lillian quickly waved her hand. "But the car got hit. I'm really sorry. I'll pay for the repairs."
Kaitlyn waved it off nonchalantly. "Forget it. You're a new driver and haven't driven much. No need to pay. As long as you're okay. By the way, how did you handle it with the person you hit?"
Lillian chuckled, "Funny thing, the person I rear-ended was the general manager of the SK Group. He was just as understanding as you and said to forget about it since I'm a new driver."
Kaitlyn smiled and muttered to herself, "So meticulous in business, yet quite generous in this matter."
"Since he said so, you don't need to worry about it," Kaitlyn said indifferently.
But Lillian insisted, "But Kaitlyn, I can't not care. I really want to pay you back."
"Just complete the task I gave you today, and consider it as paying for the repairs!" Kaitlyn said, "Memorize it quickly. I'll check tomorrow."
It was just about time to get off work. Kaitlyn left first. The rest of the secretarial office staff also left one after another. Shirley came over to ask if she was leaving, but Lillian decided to stay and check on Alexander.
Entering the office, she heard loud snoring from the rest area. Seeing him sleep so soundly, she didn't disturb him and quietly sat on the office sofa to study vocabulary.
After some time, she heard his voice from the rest area. Lillian quickly walked over and saw him sitting up. "You're awake?" she asked.
Alexander frowned at her and asked in a hoarse, "What time is it?"
"Almost 8 p.m.," Lillian replied.
Alexander shook his head lightly, looked at the empty cup on the table, and said, "Get me some water."
Lillian responded and took the empty cup to get water, thinking he probably didn't remember her splashing him earlier.
Alexander sat on the bed for a long time without moving, puzzled by why he dreamt of Lillian. In the dream, they were on a great escape. She kept getting attacked by various wild animals. He didn't know how many times he called her an idiot and a fool in the dream!
He chuckled, "What a ridiculous dream."
Lillian brought him the water. After he drank it all in one go, she asked, "Why didn't you go home? Lucas will definitely be mad at us tonight."
"Kevin didn't come back. I was worried about you being alone, so I stayed," Lillian said generously.
Alexander looked at her complexly, his gaze piercing through her heart.
Lillian avoided his intense gaze and said, "You must be hungry. I ordered takeout. It should be here soon. Wash your face and freshen up." After that, she left the rest area.
Alexander obediently went to the bathroom. Meanwhile, the takeout arrived. When he came out, the aroma of porridge filled the air.
"I ordered Chicken Soup for you. After drinking, your stomach must be uncomfortable. Have some soup to warm it up," Lillian said, standing by his desk. "There are also two dishes, both light. Eat up." She sat back on the sofa.
Alexander watched her open her meal box and curiously asked, "What are you eating?"
"Texas Chili," Lillian said casually while unwrapping her food.
The rich, spicy aroma wafted out. Lillian took a deep breath in satisfaction. She started eating and mumbled, "I've been craving this for days."
Alexander sipped his soup, watching her eat the Texas Chili across from him, her mouth watering from the spiciness.
"You shouldn't eat such unhealthy, spicy food. Are you looking for trouble?" Alexander couldn't help but say.
Lillian took a sip of water and retorted, "I like it, so I don't think it's trouble."
"Well, you can't eat it anymore!" he commanded domineeringly.
Lillian looked at him with confusion and asked, "Are you concerned about me?"
