Chapter 109 Shirley is Very Tough

During the lunch break, Lillian packed up. She was about to go for lunch when she saw Alexis and Sarah from the executive secretary's office walking arm in arm toward her, affectionately asking, "Ms. Hill, what are you having for lunch? Let's go together."

Lillian looked at them in confusion and then smiled. "No need, you go ahead. I have plans to go out for lunch with Shirley today."

"It's okay. We can bring Shirley along." Alexis once again linked Lillian's arm and said, "It's been a while since we had lunch together, and it's been a while since we gossiped."
She then looked at Lillian and said, "Ms. Hill, the lipstick color you're wearing today really suits your skin tone. What shade is it? Tell me later."

Lillian felt a bit overwhelmed by the attention and awkwardness, thinking, 'I don't really know you that well.'

At that moment, Shirley walked over, glanced at them, linked arms, sneered, stepped up, pulled Lillian over, and said to Alexis, "When do you become so close to Ms. Hill? I had no idea. I can tell you the lipstick shade now. It's YSL number 9. Also, if you're joining us for lunch, we are inviting you, not the other way around. Get your priorities straight."

Alexis was pleased, asking, "Can you bring me and Sarah along too?"
"No," Shirley smirked, took Lillian by the arm, and walked away.

Sarah was also displeased, saying, "That Shirley is so difficult to deal with. If it weren't for Lillian, no one would even bother with her."
Alexis was even more upset. "Yeah, if it weren't for wanting to get on Lillian's good side, who would even care about Shirley?!"
Sarah whispered, "Alexis, is what Ms. Blair said true? Lillian is Mr. Sinclair's lover? Why not his girlfriend?"

Alexis led her back to the executive secretary's office and analyzed, "I guess so. She's not qualified to be a girlfriend! She's not a lady from a wealthy family who can enter the Sinclair family. Mr. Sinclair probably wants some excitement. Anyway, it's beneficial for us to get along with her now. If Mr. Sinclair dumps her later, we won't lose anything by not associating with her."

Sarah nodded. "I never thought Lillian would be with Mr. Sinclair. She's usually so low-key, I never would have guessed."

"Powerful people don't boast about themselves. Look at how quiet she usually is, but she's got some power. Otherwise, she wouldn't have hooked up with Mr. Sinclair." After saying this, Alexis smirked. "If Taylor finds out about this, do you think she'll go crazy?"

Sarah chuckled. "Alexis, do you want her to find out? Otherwise, we could help her move on sooner, not be so fixated on one person."

Alexis stayed silent while Sarah chatted and laughed. The two of them reached a quiet understanding.

After entering the elevator, Shirley said to Lillian, "You are too tough just now. We don't need to argue with them. Just make up an excuse to brush them off."

Shirley said, "I can't stand their fake kindness. They only come to flatter you when they know you're related to Mr. Sinclair, trying to benefit themselves. When they harm you, they forget all about it. I can't stand people like that."

Lillian chuckled at her angry expression. "I also feel quite awkward just now. It's really hard to get along with them."
After laughing, Lillian hesitated for a moment and said to Angela, "Actually, about my relationship with Mr. Sinclair..."

"Stop!" Shirley interrupted. I don't want to know about your relationship with Mr. Sinclair. We're good just the way we are."

When the elevator doors opened, Lillian and Shirley walked out together.
Lillian didn't expect Shirley to be so open-minded and mind her own business. However, she also felt that Shirley didn't want to embarrass herself and was grateful for Shirley's actions from the bottom of her heart.

Lillian and Shirley went to a newly opened restaurant near the company. According to their colleagues, the steaks here were especially delicious, so they decided to try them today.

After ordering at the bar, they found a seat by the window. Lillian, thinking about Angela, sent a message to the group chat of 'Handsome Guys'.

"Excuse me, handsome guys, does anyone know some personal buyers?" Lillian asked in a playful tone in the group.
A few seconds later, Lillian's phone beeped.

Theodore Wellington: [Lillian, what do you want to buy? I'm going abroad tomorrow; I can help you get it; send me the list.]

Tom: [Sister-in-law, you want find a personal buyer? Are you buying Valentine's gifts for my brother?] There was a smiley face at the end.

Caspian: [Lillian, I've got it. What will you get for Alexander for Valentine's Day?]

There were a few younger brothers who had entered the group at some point and kept greeting Lillian. The first thing Lillian did was set the group to "Do Not Disturb."

She mentioned Caspian and replied: [It's not for me. It's for a friend who wants to buy a brand of chocolate. Can you check if it's available?]
She sent a picture over.

Caspian: [Say it's for Alexander, there's nothing to be embarrassed about.]

Tom: [Lillian, is that friend Angela?]

Theodore: [You two, stop messing around and see if you can find it.]

Lillian couldn't help but praise in her heart, 'Mr. Wellington is reliable.'
Shirley, seeing Lillian on her phone the whole time, couldn't help but ask, "Who are you messaging on WhatsApp? Eat quickly. Otherwise, it'll get cold."

The group started chatting about how Lillian was actually buying a gift for Alexander, not to mention the personal buyer. She didn't feel like arguing and just locked her phone, putting it aside.

"When is Valentine's Day?" Lillian asked.
Shirley calculated, "It's this weekend."
"Okay." Lillian expressed her indifference.

Shirley sighed and put down her spoon. "Another Valentine's Day; it is a lonely holiday for singles."

"Don't say that. If you don't want to be single, I can introduce you to a boyfriend," Lillian asked with a smile.

"Who are you thinking of introducing? Is it your classmate or friend?" Angela laughed.

"How about Mr. Martin? I think he's pretty stable, so he should be good."

Shirley chuckled, "Forget it. Leah would kill me."

Lillian was surprised, "Do you know Leah?"

Shirley scratched her temple and explained, "My sister is a classmate of hers, and she helped me get this job."

"I see." Lillian believed her words without a doubt.

Seeing that Lillian didn't question her further, Shirley breathed a sigh of relief, blaming herself for speaking too quickly. However, she also felt a bit guilty for keeping things from Lillian.
