Chapter 295 Alexander and Lillian Confess
Alexander looked at her in shock, his eyes filled with horror, and asked in astonishment, "Honey, how did you know that?"
"How would I know?" Lillian said, lying flat and staring at the ceiling with a mocking tone. "Why don't you ask Amy? She arranged everything so clearly, just for me to hear."
She spoke tough words, but her heart felt pain.
"Honey, let me explain," Alexander hurriedly began to explain.
However, Lillian spoke wearily, "Alexander, you don't need to explain. I already know everything you two talked about." She sneered, "Amy was quite considerate of me, keeping me on the call the whole time. She was probably afraid you wouldn't tell me the truth."
Alexander's face darkened with anger, and he couldn't help but ask, "She sent you a voice message, letting you hear our conversation? She's gone too far!"
"Honey, since you heard everything, you know that I love you now, right?" Alexander held her hand sincerely and said, "I made it clear to her today that the one I love is you, Lillian!"
Lillian pulled her hand away with a stern face and said angrily, "You still have the nerve to say you love me? Then how do you explain hugging her? And the sound of clothes rustling like they were being taken off? I heard it all!"
Alexander, like a student reporting to a teacher, said seriously, "First, the sound of clothes rustling was because I took off her clothes, but only to expose her shoulder. She has a birthmark there, and I wanted to confirm it. Second, I did hug her. Honey, I'm not begging for your understanding, nor do I expect you not to be angry, but I had no other thoughts. It was just a hug like one would give a friend. Honey, I hope you can trust me."
Lillian remained silent, her mind replaying the conversation he had with Shae. To be honest, when he admitted his love for her in front of Amy, she felt genuinely happy.
She had previously wondered if Amy hadn't died, would he leave her to go back to Amy? The answer was uncertain. She lacked confidence and couldn't fathom his heart.
She never expected this to come true, Amy came back "alive"!
"Lily," Alexander slowly began again, speaking sincerely, "I know you're angry and think I'm a jerk. We're married, so how could I hug another woman? You might also be thinking that since she's back and we have a past, even though I say I love you, you're afraid she'll seduce me, and I'll go back to her. Am I right?"
Lillian, her thoughts accurately guessed, had tears welling up in her eyes. She pressed her lips tightly and remained silent.
Alexander brought her hand to his lips, gently kissed it, and smiled, "You are always lacking confidence in yourself and me. You don't trust me. You're my wife, I won't abandon you. Understand?"
Lillian sniffled hard and said in a muffled voice, "I don't know."
Tears streamed down her cheeks.
He wiped her tears with a tissue and coaxed, "It was wrong of me to hug her. That's my fault. When you recover, you can punish me however you want. You have to believe me, I'm not an indecisive person. I only love you now. Believe me!"
Lillian still didn't look at him, grabbed a tissue randomly, blew her nose, and then said with a grievance, "You want me to believe you? Just saying these sweet words will make me trust you. Whether she's Shae or Amy, she is always causing trouble, secretly targeting me behind my back. If it weren't for her, would I have been distracted, sprained my ankle, and gone into premature birth? Alexander, I'm not asking you to do anything, I'm just scared. Scared that she'll use all kinds of tricks to drive a wedge between us. By then, all that will be left is suspicion and doubt."
Alexander didn't deny her words, but what could he do? Amy had her thoughts, what power did he have to control her? The only thing he could do was ensure his behavior didn't cross the line and keep his distance from Amy.
"Honey, I know her presence makes you feel like a thorn in your side. But I have no right to control where she lives or works, right? Of course, I won't forget the harm she caused you just because she 'came back from the dead.' I'll warn her not to do such despicable things again. If she doesn't listen, that's on her. What I need to do is protect you. Anyone who hurts you, I'll deal with them, including Amy!"
At this point, Alexander's face showed a guilty expression again, "Every time I say I'll protect you well, but I still let you get hurt. I want to slap myself!"
"Then do it! Save me the trouble!" Lillian sneered.
Without hesitation, Alexander raised his hand and slapped himself, a crisp sound echoing!
Lillian immediately turned to look at him, shouting in surprise, "What are you doing? Are you stupid?"
"I'm a jerk for not taking good care of you and making you angry!" Alexander looked remorseful.
Lillian grabbed his hand and said, "You hit yourself? Don't you know it makes me feel guilty ?"
His action truly shocked her. For someone as proud and arrogant as him to slap himself in front of his wife spoke volumes.
Alexander smiled at her words and, in a stiff, playful tone, asked, "Honey, you do feel sorry for me, don't you?"
"Get lost!" Lillian saw his playful smile and put on a stern face again, "I haven't forgiven you yet!"
Alexander said, "Then I'll wait. Whenever you're not angry anymore, that's when we'll make up."
Lillian silently looked at him, feeling a bit complicated. What did he do wrong? From beginning to end, it was always Amy clinging to him, and he never gave her a good face. After revealing she was Amy, he hugged her, but other than that, he made everything clear without hesitation. In this regard, he was truly blameless.
Knowing his love for her, she decided to cherish it. A small voice in her heart told her so.
"Honey, why are you looking at me like that? Do you have any other instructions?" Alexander leaned in with a playful smile.
Lillian's heart softened, and she hugged his neck, choking up, "Honey, remember what you said to me today. The person you love is me.."
"Every day from now on, I'll love you," Alexander said, holding her and gently kissing her ear.
