Chapter 282 You Are the First Woman to Say You Don't Like Me
Ever since the incident where Blake hit Nico at the restaurant was posted on Instagram, public opinion has been severe, and the internet is full of people cursing him. Nico, in a fit of anger, went back to her own home and soon after sent him a message saying she wanted a divorce.
The jewelry store's business suffered greatly. Everyone knew Blake was the owner and as a result, sales plummeted. Beatrice was furious, cursing at home and directing some harsh words at Shae as well.
But there was nothing she could do, Blake was her son, and Shae was a valuable assistant in the store. She couldn't be too harsh on either of them. All she could do was use her connections to try to calm the online storm. To her surprise, none of the people who used to flatter her were willing to help.
Beatrice threw her phone aside in anger, "I didn't want your father to handle this, but it looks like we have no choice now."
She hit Blake's arm a few times in frustration and said through gritted teeth, "You're just causing me trouble! If your father finds out about this, he'll scold you!"
Feeling irritable, Blake said, "Let him scold me! Nico wants a divorce anyway. I might as well tell him everything and let him say whatever he wants!"
"Now you're acting tough!" Beatrice hit him again.
She took a deep breath and asked, "What do you think about the divorce?"
"Mom, I've wanted to divorce her for a long time! Ever since she had a miscarriage, she's become very sensitive. I've had enough of her!" Blake's annoyance was evident.
Beatrice frowned in thought and after a moment said, "Nico's family hasn't been much help during your marriage. She finally got pregnant and then had a miscarriage. If you're willing, divorcing her isn't a big loss."
Seeing that Beatrice agreed to the divorce, Blake couldn't help but feel smug, a proud smile appearing on his face.
Beatrice gave him a sidelong glance and said coldly, "Don't be too happy. I may agree to the divorce, but I won't agree to you marrying Shae."
"What's wrong with Shae?" Blake asked, puzzled. "She's great in every way."
"She may be great, but she's not right for you," Beatrice said sternly.
Blake didn't understand and said defiantly, "You never approve of anyone I like. You always say they're not right for me!"
Beatrice laughed coldly, "Don't get upset just yet. As far as I know, Shae doesn't even like you. You're just indulging in wishful thinking, trying to drive a wedge between us. Let's wait until you two are in love, then we'll talk."
Hearing this, Blake felt a bit dejected. It was true, Shae still liked Alexander. Thinking about this made him even more agitated.
Beatrice didn't know what to do with Blake. Seeing his dejected look made her even angrier. She stood up and said, "I'm going back to the hospital. I need to talk to your father about this. Don't go to the hospital for the next couple of days. Just keep in touch with Shae."
Last weekend, Lillian had seen off Harry's family, and this weekend, Wendy and Caspian had arrived. It felt like a resort, with guests every week.
"Lillian, you're hiding out here enjoying yourself! I'm so jealous!" Wendy said enviously, sipping her juice under the sun umbrella.
Caspian, wearing sunglasses, glanced at the women in swimsuits on the distant beach and said to Alexander, "Alexander, I'm jealous of you too, you get to see women in swimsuits every day."
In the height of summer, the beach was always crowded, with countless beautiful women.
Alexander scoffed, "You think everyone is like you?"
Lillian asked Wendy, "Why didn't Angela come?"
Wendy said, "She's been really busy lately. I asked her twice to go to the movies, but she didn't have time."
"Who went with you then?" Lillian's focus was not on Angela.
Caspian chimed in, "I went with her. We watched two pretty mediocre movies."
Lillian raised an eyebrow and looked at Wendy with interest, "What's going on? Watching movies together? What's the deal?"
"There's no deal, it's not what you think," Wendy quickly explained. "We just happened to run into each other, so I dragged him along."
Lillian said, "If you're dating or have someone you like, you have to tell me. No keeping secrets!"
"Don't worry, I don't like Caspian," Wendy said bluntly.
She didn't avoid saying this, letting Caspian hear it. He frowned and asked, "What, am I that bad? You don't like me?"
Wendy laughed, "So according to you, if you're great, every woman in the world should like you?"
"Don't change the subject. Don't you not like me?" Caspian, who always enjoyed flirting with women, had never had a woman tell him to his face that she didn't like him. Every woman had always flattered and fawned over him.
"Yes, I don't like you," Wendy replied straightforwardly.
"Look at you, asking as if you like me," she added.
Caspian, accustomed to being flattered by women, was stunned by Wendy's question, He retorted, "Well, I don't like you either."
"Then why should I like you?" Wendy rolled her eyes at him.
Alexander sat there laughing gleefully, his shoulders shaking, and teased Caspian, "You think everyone will like you?"
Caspian said gloomily, "Wendy is the first woman to say she doesn't like me."
"Mr. Wade, have you met too few women, or are you just too confident?" Wendy mocked him.
"Wendy! I'm going to deal with you today!" Caspian quickly stood up and lunged at her. Wendy reacted swiftly, turning around and running away.
Since Caspian had stayed at Wendy's place twice, they had been in contact more often, occasionally having meals or watching movies together. Wendy had only asked him because she couldn't get Angela.
Watching the two of them run towards the beach, Lillian thought for a moment and asked Alexander, "Honey, do you think it will end up like this: Angela dating Mr. Wellington and Wendy dating Caspian?"
Alexander simply smiled and gave her a knowing look, allowing her to figure it out on her own.
"Do you know something? Tell me!" Lillian saw the information in his eyes and pressed him.
"I'm just like you, I don't know anything," Alexander raised his hands in surrender. "Wouldn't it be wonderful if they ended up together? Then we could spend time together in the future."
Lillian said, "Mr. Wellington seems fine, pretty reliable. But Wendy and Caspian, forget it. A man who likes to flirt with women can't be good. He's not reliable at all. He better not mess with Wendy."
