Chapter 65 Alexander is a Good Person
Lillian hadn't even reached the study when she heard coughing coming from inside. She lightly tapped the door twice and entered.
"Mr. Sinclair, this is some soup prepared by Kelly. It's meant to be drunk while hot," Lillian said, placing the tray on the table and handing it to him.
Alexander lowered his head to look at the documents and reached out his hand.
Lillian placed the bowl in his hand and reminded him, "Be careful. It's hot."
Alexander looked up at her and wrinkled his brows at the pungent smell. Then he asked, "What is this?"
"This will make you feel better. Drink it." Lillian replied.
Alexander drank it in one gulp and said in pain, "Tell Kelly not to prepare this for me anymore."
"Your cough won't get better if you don't drink it. Kelly will continue making this soup," Lillian put the bowl on the tray and stood in front of the table without leaving.
Alexander glanced through a couple of pages of the documents and asked softly, "Anything else?"
Lillian took an envelope containing money out from her pocket and placed it on the table, pushing it towards him.
"Mr. Sinclair, thank you. You've given me so much bonus. Here is ten thousand dollars. I previously said I'd return the money to you in installments, so please accept it."
"Don't be silly. The finance department issued the bonus. I didn't ask them to give you extra!" Alexander looked at her sternly when he lifted his head. "Do you have a lot of money now? The Sinclair family doesn't care about the money you owe. As long as it makes you more obedient, it's worth it!"
After speaking, he glanced at her disdainfully and impatiently said, "Leave!"
Lillian remained standing and continued, "I know you don't care about this money, but I have to repay you. Whether you want it or not is your business, but whether I repay it or not is my business." After finishing her words, Lillian took the tray and quickly left the study.
Alexander put down the documents, looked at the envelope in his hand, sneered, and casually threw it into the drawer.
Lillian returned to her room, let out a sigh of relief, and took out an account book to record the repayment information. Seeing the number reduce by ten thousand, she felt like she had taken the first step.
"One hundred and thirty thousand dollars. If I have to repay the principal and interest, it'll take a long time," Lillian imagined herself with gray hair going to the bank to repay Alexander and felt a little heartbroken.
Lillian lay on her bed, brainstorming for her comic. During this time, she was injured, and her fans on the forum urged her to update many times. Coincidentally, Luke had been spending time with Oscar these past few days, her injury had healed, and she had time to create.
As she was deep in thought, the phone suddenly rang. It was Aunt Lisa calling.
"Aunt Lisa," Lillian answered.
Lisa laughed and asked kindly, "Are you still awake? I haven't called you in a while. I wonder if Oscar is adapting well to you."
"We're all fine," Lillian replied lightly.
"Did you tell Alexander about what we talked about last time?" Lisa asked anxiously.
"Aunt Lisa, Alexander has been really busy lately. I can only see him every few days. Christmas Day is coming soon. Adam's matter has to wait after the New Year," Lillian evaded.
Lisa said, "Alright, it's not urgent. When will you all be back after Christmas?"
"I don't know. It depends on Alexander's schedule." Lillian replied.
"You can come back whenever you want," Lisa didn't dare to offend Lillian now, so she went along with everything.
"Aunt Lisa, thanks for the call. I'm going to sleep now, goodbye." Lillian said.
"Okay, get some rest," Lisa replied.
Lisa hung up the phone and sat on the sofa unhappily, not saying a word. She thought to herself, 'Lillian was a bit arrogant!'
"Mom, why are you still awake?" Lola Hill came out of her room and curiously asked.
Lisa turned her head to look at her daughter and motioned for her to come. "Come here," she said.
"What's up, Mom?" Lola sat next to her and asked.
Lisa told her, "I just finished talking to Lillian on the phone. She hasn't told Alexander about your Adam's matter yet."
"Are you angry about this?" Lola leaned against the sofa and said casually, "Don't bother. She won't help us."
"Why?" Lisa asked puzzly. "I think Alexander is a good person. He's so rich and generous. I thought he would help us for Lillian's sake."
Lola chuckled and said, "Mom, let's not think about whether Alexander will help us or not. Lillian hates Adam. How could she help us?"
"She married into such a rich family and is living a wealthy life. Does she still hate Adam? Is she really that heartless?" Lisa said disdainfully, "She has always been arrogant since she was young, same as her mother!"
Lola said in disgust, "Lillian's mother has always been very hypocritical. That's why I dislike her."
"If she doesn't help Adam, I can't keep going to the company to ask Alexander. The last time I went to ask for money, Lillian got really angry with me. What should we do?" Lisa asked.
Lola cleared her throat and said, "Leave it to me! I can visit Oscar and bring him some delicious food."
Lisa looked at Lola with some disbelief. After thinking for a moment, she tentatively asked, "What are you planning?"
"I just want to see what the mansion is like," Lola said, "Okay, I'll contact Lillian tomorrow."
Lisa watched as Lola went back to her room. She thought to herself, 'It's better for Lola to go. I'm too old to try to please Alexander and Lillian. It's embarrassing, I'm their elder.'
The next day was the weekend.
Alexander didn't go to work today. He stayed home to rest. He didn't eat breakfast. The others happily finished their breakfast in the kitchen.
"Lillian, I'm done eating. I'm going upstairs," Oscar said.
"Do you have something to do? If not, come with me and Luke to build a snowman outside later." Lillian suggested.
It had been gloomy since early in the morning today, and now it was snowing heavily outside.
"Alexander recommended a book about financial management for me to read. There are parts I don't understand so that I can ask him anytime," Oscar said worriedly.
Lillian expressed some concerns, "Alexander is busy with work, don't bother him. You can read other books or play with your phone."
She was worried that Alexander might get angry with Oscar.
"When he's working, I'm always next to him reading a book. I don't disturb him. He's willing to teach me," Oscar said confidently. "Lillian, Alexander is really great. He's not the kind of person I imagined before. I really like him. I'll go upstairs first."
Lillian watched him walk out of the kitchen briskly and imitated Oscar by talking to Kelly with a pouting expression. "I really like him."
"Oscar has a good relationship with Mr. Sinclair. It's good for you, too," Kelly said with a smile.
Lillian pouted and said, "If the two of them get along well, of course I'm happy. I can't understand why Alexander hates me. He always thinks I have ulterior motives towards him!"
