Chapter 405 This Time, Amy Really Left

Lillian also looked at the hospital entrance, holding Alexander's hand, and said, "If you want to cry, just let it out."

Alexander's eyes glistened with tears, and he said, "This time, she's gone..."

"The last time Amy left, I couldn't sleep every night. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw her." He held his forehead and sighed deeply.

"Although I don't feel that intense pain anymore, I still feel a sense of unreality when I think about her suddenly leaving this world. When I first found out she had a mental illness, I thought, that if she's sick, she can be treated. There's still a long way to go, and maybe after she recovers, she'll be like she used to be. I could also atone for some of my mother's sins."

"Life is unpredictable." Lillian comforted him, saying, "Don't be too sad. Living in such a muddled state wasn't necessarily a happy thing for her. Even when she was clear-headed, she lived with hatred and regret every day. We can't understand it, but I guess it must have felt worse than death."

"Yeah." Alexander exhaled deeply, "Living in her world like that, she wasn't happy either."

Neil and his wife came out of the hospital and drove away.

Lillian asked, puzzled, "Why did they come out so quickly?"

Alexander looked coldly and said, "They just came to cry a bit. Seeing Jared there, they didn't bother with the arrangements."

"After all, they were parents for a few years. How could they be like this?"

Alexander started the car and said, "Let's go back too. Forget about them."

Amy's passing caused quite a stir in the New Feed. After hearing the news, everyone in the group was sighing.

[Jared said there won't be a funeral,] Lillian told everyone in the group, [The ashes will be buried under the tree in the yard. Go there to pay your respects.]

Tom said, [She's just gone like that. Life is unpredictable. We should all cherish our lives more!]

What he said was true, but coming from Tom, it lacked a bit of seriousness.

Three days later, on the day of Amy's burial, only Jared and her parents were present. They cried their hearts out, and Paula fainted several times from crying.

Jared told Paula and Colin, "Don't worry, now that Amy is gone, I'll take care of you."

"Jared, good boy," Colin said, tears streaming down his face, "Thank you for your kindness. Paula and I appreciate it. We won't trouble anyone. We've already found a nursing home, and our savings are enough to last us until we die. If you miss us, come visit us."

Jared nodded vigorously and suddenly broke down in tears, apologizing, "Paula, Colin, I'm sorry I didn't take good care of Amy!"

"Don't say that, child. You've done very well. It's us who owe you for being burdened by Amy," Colin said emotionally, "In the future, when your life gets back on track, work, get married, and forget about Amy. Everything will get better."

"Colin, you and Paula should also live well. I'll visit you whenever I can. Treat me as your son."

These words made the three of them cry and hug each other again.

Two days later, Alexander took Lillian to visit Jared.

In the yard, a sweet osmanthus tree had sprouted a few green buds. Under the tree, a beautiful photo of Amy leaned against the trunk, her bright smile as radiant as ever.

"Amy, it's very quiet here, and Jared can accompany you every day. Rest well here," Alexander bent down and placed a large bouquet of lilies under the tree.

"Amy, rest in peace," Lillian said softly.

Alexander looked down at the photo and said, "I remember this photo. It was her favorite. I took it on her eighteenth birthday."

"So young," Lillian sighed.

Alexander silently curled his lips, looking at the photo, unable to say anything. She was gone, and she was truly free.

Jared came over and said, "Come in and sit for a while. I have some things that you and Amy used to have. She couldn't bear to throw them away, so I packed them up. Do you want to take them?"

Alexander said, "No, if they're useless, just bury them or throw them away."

Jared gave a faint reply, "Alright, I'll take care of it myself."

"Then we won't disturb you any longer. We'll leave now," Alexander said.

Jared walked them to the door and said, "Alexander, you know Amy never let go of you in her heart. Now that she's gone. Can you come to see her every year on her anniversary? Don't forget her."

Alexander patted Jared's shoulder and said, "Don't worry. Amy was my friend too. How could I forget her? You take care of yourself too."

They left the yard and drove away.

Lillian looked at Alexander's serious expression and said, "I know you're feeling down. How about I accompany you on a trip for a few days to relax?"

Alexander said, "I'm fine. After these few days, I've accepted it."

"Really? But you don't look like it. If you're feeling bad and can't let go, just tell me. I won't be mad. I'm just worried about you," Lillian said generously.

Alexander laughed, "The pain has passed. Besides, I have my life. I can't stay sad forever. Don't worry, I'm not as fragile as you think."

"Lillian, I'm really happy that you understand me," he said emotionally, holding her hand.

Lillian said, "You're not a block of wood. Of course, you'd be sad and upset about her passing. I wouldn't get jealous just because she was your ex-girlfriend."

"My wife is so understanding. I'm very gratified," Alexander joked, kissing her hand deeply.

"What are you so gratified about? What did you think of me?"

"Just like you are now, perfect," he flattered.

Lillian dismissed it, but a smile appeared on her lips.

Amy's matter was over, and life went on. In the blink of an eye, it was April, with warm spring and blooming flowers.

William and Henry were already eight months old, toddling around. William could even take a few steps on his own, but Henry was timid and wouldn't take his first step.

The weather was nice. That weekend, Alexander took the whole family and invited friends to the estate for some fun.
