Chapter 311 Wendy's Driving Skills
Dinner was in the backyard, and everyone was happily dining.
Caspian looked at the barbecue Kelly brought out, swallowed, and said, "Kelly, I must say, I've been eating your barbecue since I was a kid. I just love your cooking!"
Kelly stood by, and said with a slight smile, "I still remember when you used to come to Sinclair Villa to play. Before dinner, you'd always ask me for a barbecue. It's been over twenty years now."
Wendy praised, "Whatever Kelly cooks is delicious. I love the food you make."
"Knowing you love it, I prepared extra today," Kelly said cheerfully to everyone. "Please, enjoy the food, everyone"
Everyone ate and chatted, and the atmosphere was great.
Wendy, sitting next to Caspian, reminded him, "Drink less today. Don't get drunk and embarrass yourself in front of Amos."
Caspian gave her a sidelong glance and said irritably, "Every time I drink, I don't cause trouble. How is that embarrassing? You're using the wrong word."
"Why are you arguing with me? Don't you know how you act when you're drunk?" Wendy looked up and saw Evelyn and Amos sitting across from them, with Amos thoughtfully serving Evelyn food.
The smile on Amos's face made Wendy feel nauseous. That phone call earlier was enough to reveal Amos's true character. This matter wasn't exactly trivial, but it wasn't insignificant either. But Evelyn was both her boss and friend. She couldn't just stand by and watch her be deceived by a jerk.
" Why are you staring at them?" Caspian said to her.
Wendy looked at Caspian, and hesitated before saying, "Caspian, before you got engaged, did Ms. Phillips have any boyfriends?"
"With me around, who would dare to approach her?" Caspian glanced at Amos, full of resentment.
"So, Amos is Ms. Phillips's first real boyfriend?" Wendy asked in disbelief.
"Even though I don't want to admit it, you're right," Caspian said, taking a big gulp from his glass.
Tom, sitting nearby, grabbed his arm and said, "Slow down. What's the rush?"
Wendy hesitated about whether to tell Caspian what she heard on Amos's call. On second thought, she decided not to. With his temper, he'd blow up on the spot. Without solid evidence, she had no confidence in bringing it up.
"Why are you asking this? Trying to annoy me?" Caspian said unhappily, taking another sip of his drink.
"NO!" Wendy said righteously. "I was just asking casually."
She fiddled with the food on her plate with her fork, her eyes on the affectionate couple across from her, unsure of what to do.
She looked down to eat but saw something she didn't like and handed it to Caspian, saying, "I don't like this. You can have it."
Caspian, chatting with Tom, didn't mind and ate it directly. The smooth and natural action showed their close relationship.
Evelyn, sitting across from them, noticed everything. She remained calm but was surprised at how close they had become.
"Evelyn, what are you looking at?" Amos followed her gaze and chuckled, "Wendy and Mr. Wade seem to be in the flirting stage."
Evelyn asked in confusion, "How do you know?"
"Look at their eyes," Amos said, gesturing around his eyes. "You can tell they like each other."
"I didn't notice," Evelyn said, feeling a bit puzzled. Did Caspian really like Wendy?
"You can tell by how Mr. Wade always picks Wendy up from the studio," Amos said, glancing at her. "Evelyn, seeing them close, are you feeling uncomfortable?"
"Stop saying that," Evelyn said, taking a sip of her Coke. "I'm just surprised, that's all. Don't ask me that again."
"Okay, I won't ask. Whatever you say," Amos said, trying to please her.
Evelyn said unhappily, "Talk to me properly. Who's your wife? Stop calling me that!"
Amos laughed silently and took a sip of his drink.
After dinner, everyone sat in the yard, drinking tea and chatting. Caspian behaved well tonight, not drinking too much or arguing with anyone. This post-drinking state was rare.
After chatting for a while, it got late, and everyone started to leave.
Caspian couldn't drive after drinking, and Wendy had come in his car, so she had to drive. Theodore had come with Tom, who was drunk and had already been picked up by a driver. Jackson and Ainsley were heading in the opposite direction, making it inconvenient to drop Theodore off.
"Where are you going?" Angela asked.
Theodore replied, "Trade Center Suites."
"What a coincidence! I just moved there recently," Angela said in surprise. "Perfect, we can go together."
"Why did you move again?" Lillian asked.
"A family of four moved in upstairs. They were noisy every morning and night, with kids crying and parents shouting. It gave me a headache. I had been thinking of moving anyway, so I didn't bother with the property management and moved to Trade Center Suites," Angela explained.
"That's great. You two ended up as neighbors," Lillian said with a smile.
Wendy and Caspian got in the car. Wendy rubbed her hands together, excitedly saying, "Since I got my license, I haven't driven much. Today, I'm going to show off a bit."
Caspian fastened his seatbelt and reminded her, "You're a new driver. Please take it slow, I'm not in a hurry."
"Don't worry about it. Otherwise, you could call your driver to take my place," Wendy said, fastening her seatbelt and gripping the steering wheel, her eyes shining.
"Let's go!" She stepped on the gas and sped off. Her fearless and confident demeanor didn't seem like that of a new driver at all.
Once on the road, Wendy drove steadily and proudly said to Caspian, "How's my driving?"
"It's pretty good for a new driver," Caspian said, staring ahead. "Watch out for that car!"
Wendy weaved through traffic and said, "After I got my license, my parents wouldn't let me drive, saying it was unsafe. I don't get it. If it's unsafe, why did they make me get a license? I've been running errands for work lately and drove the company car a couple of times, so I got some practice."
"Can you stop talking? Watch the road and the cars. It's late at night. Don't drive us into a ditch!" Caspian said with concern.
"I'm watching. You shut up!" Wendy said impatiently, seeking thrills and speeding up even more.
With a loud crash.
Under the cover of night, a Rolls-Royce crashed into the median barrier.
