Chapter 229 Oscar Woke Up
Blake cursed, "We were so close! Who would've thought Emily would just wake up screaming like that?"
Rena complained, "You were too careless! What about the hospital's surveillance?"
"Don't worry. I had someone turn it off," Blake said, wincing as he touched his wound.
"What about those scratches on your face? If Mom sees them, how are you going to explain?" Rena asked.
Blake shrugged. "I'll say we fought and you scratched me."
Rena frowned. "Do you really think Mom will buy that? How on earth could I, with this huge pregnant belly, have scratched you?"
Blake asked, "Then what do you suggest?"
Rena replied, "I don't know either. Just make sure Mom buys it. If Alexander sees it, he'll be even more suspicious."
Blake thought for a moment. "Alright, let's go." He started the car.
After getting Kelly's call, Alexander rushed to the hospital.
"Mr. Sinclair," Kelly said, explaining what happened.
Alexander asked, "Is Oscar okay?"
"Yes, he is fine," Kelly replied.
Emily, nearby, said, "Mr. Sinclair, someone tried to harm Oscar. We need to catch them. They wore a mask, so we should check the surveillance footage."
Alexander nodded. "Are you guys hurt?"
Kelly said, "Emily twisted her wrist. We'll have it checked when the doctor comes in."
Alexander sent Kevin to the surveillance room. Kevin soon returned. "All the cameras on this floor were turned off."
"What? That's outrageous!" Emily fumed. "It was premeditated! Who could it be? What did Oscar ever do to them? This is infuriating!"
Growing up in a wealthy family, Emily was familiar with such schemes.
"Too noisy," a weak voice came from the hospital bed.
Everyone turned to see Oscar, all surprised as he removed his oxygen mask, frowning with his eyes closed. "Emily, stop making noise."
Emily ran to the bedside. "Oscar, you're really awake!"
Oscar turned away, annoyed. "You're disturbing me."
Alexander quickly approached. "Oscar, are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?"
"I'm fine," Oscar said, opening his eyes slightly to look at him.
Kelly happily said, "I'll get the doctor."
The on-duty doctor came over. After a quick check, he told Alexander, "Waking up is a good sign. We'll do a comprehensive checkup tomorrow."
"Will he fall back into a coma?" Emily asked.
The doctor smiled. "I'm not sure yet. Just let him rest."
After the doctor left, Emily jumped for joy in front of Oscar. "You finally woke up! You scared us so much!"
Oscar worriedly asked Alexander, "Is Lillian okay? I'm sorry to have worried you all."
"Don't worry. She's fine. I'll go tell her now," Alexander said, smiling as he left the ward.
Emily, with tears of joy, held Oscar's hand. "Oscar, you're amazing! You woke up!"
Oscar glanced at her and smiled.
Half-asleep, Lillian heard her phone buzzing. She groggily opened her eyes and grabbed it.
"Honey!" she asked urgently. "Did Oscar wake up?"
Alexander replied, "Yeah, he just woke up and he's in good spirits."
"Really? He really woke up!" Lillian covered her mouth, crying softly. "I want to see him now."
Angela also woke up and asked, "Did Oscar wake up?"
Lillian nodded vigorously. "Alexander said he just woke up."
Alexander said, "Come over tomorrow morning. Oscar is fine now, so you should get some good sleep."
"Alright," Lillian said. "What is Oscar doing now?"
"Emily is happily talking to him, but I think he'll probably go back to sleep soon," Alexander said, looking through the ward window.
"I'll bring breakfast for you all in the morning. You should get some rest too. You haven't had a good rest these past few days," Lillian advised.
Lillian ended the call, hugging Angela. "It's great. Oscar is fine!"
"Oscar is such a good boy. He'll be fine," Angela said. "Now you should go to sleep, right?"
"No, it's almost four o'clock," Lillian said, getting out of bed and putting on her slippers. "I want to prepare breakfast so I can go to the hospital early. You shouldn't sleep either. Come help me make breakfast."
"I don't want to. I'm still sleepy," Angela said, lying back in bed.
"Hurry up. Alexander told you to take care of me. Is this how you do it? Come on!" Lillian said, leaving the room.
Angela got up, worried Lillian might have an accident in the kitchen, and slowly followed her out.
For breakfast, Lillian made porridge, vegetable salad, fruit salad, and muffins. After packing everything, they ate a bit and then left.
At the hospital, Lillian and Angela heard Emily's voice before they even reached the ward.
"Oscar!" Lillian entered the ward and saw Oscar leaning against the bed. Tears welled up in her eyes as she walked to the bedside and lightly hit him.
"You always scare me!" she said, then threw herself into his arms, crying.
Oscar comforted her, "It's all my fault. I won't scare you anymore, okay? Please stop crying."
He then said to Alexander, who was sitting nearby, "Come over and comfort your wife."
Lillian sat up, glared at him, and asked, "Does it hurt?"
"No," Oscar said with a smile. "I'm hungry. What did you make for me?"
Lillian brought the bag over, but Emily took it from her, saying, "Mrs. Sinclair, I'll do it."
Lillian glanced at Emily, then turned to Alexander and said, "You come and eat too."
Alexander held her hand and sat down, patting her hand. "Now you can relax. I won't have breakfast; I have something to do and need to leave. After you see Oscar, go back with Angela. I've arranged everything at the hospital."
