Chapter 193 Lillian's Friends Come to Visit
Lillian swung by Oscar's hospital room. Kelly had already helped him with breakfast, and he was looking way better than yesterday.
"Hey Lillian, you eaten yet?" Oscar asked from his bed when he spotted her.
Kelly helped Lillian to the couch. Lillian asked, "Hasn't Emily shown up again? She told me she really wants your forgiveness."
Oscar scoffed. "I don't buy it. As long as she stays away, we're good."
"Feeling better today?" Lillian asked, switching gears.
"Not bad," Oscar said, grinning. "Lillian, Alexander set up my surgery. We were supposed to wait months, but he got a specialist for next week."
"Seriously? That soon?" Lillian said, her eyes lighting up.
"Yeah, Alexander pulled some serious strings," Oscar said, glancing at Kelly. "Lillian, this surgery must cost a fortune, right?"
"Don't sweat it. I got it covered," Lillian reassured him with a smile.
Oscar felt a wave of relief and stopped stressing.
While they were chatting, Luke called Kelly to check on Lillian and Oscar, saying he wanted to visit.
Lillian said, "It's the weekend, so let Luke come over. But make sure he doesn't run around. I don't want Samantha and Beatrice to see him."
Kelly replied, "Got it. I'll call them over now."
Melvin soon showed up with Luke, and they hung out for a bit before heading out.
"Luke, you and Melvin should head back early. Hospitals are crawling with germs," Lillian told him.
Luke asked, "Aren't you coming home tonight with Uncle Alexander? Is Kelly not coming back either? Can I stay here with you?"
"Of course not. This isn't a hotel." Lillian thought for a moment. "How about Alexander goes home to stay with you tonight? Kelly and Melvin will stay here."
"Alright then," Luke said, hugging Lillian. "Lillian, get well soon. I'll be waiting for you at home."
"Okay, chat with Oscar a bit longer, then head back. I'll have Alexander come home early tonight to be with you."
"Bye, Lillian," Luke said.
After leaving the room with Kelly, Lillian said, "Luke looked so bummed to leave. It's kinda sad."
"He'll be fine. Once he gets home and sees his phone and tablet, he'll be all good," Kelly joked.
As they chatted and got into the elevator, the doors started to close. Leah and her friend, coming out of another room, caught a glimpse of Lillian through the narrowing gap.
'Lillian?' Leah was surprised and puzzled. 'Why is she in a hospital gown? Did something happen to her baby?'
"Leah, what are you thinking? The elevator is here," her friend called, and they got into another elevator.
Leah couldn't keep it to herself and told Samantha right away. But instead of going back to the room, she posted a message on Facebook.
Ethan had set up a schedule for family members to take care of Justin and Linda, so they didn't need housekeepers. Family care was best.
Justin wasn't giving Blake the time of day and didn't want Alexander to stay overnight, preferring Ethan instead. Linda was more chill but worried the younger folks wouldn't take care of them right, so Samantha and Beatrice stepped up, visiting daily.
Samantha was helping Linda eat when she saw the message, her face going pale. Seeing Linda resting, she quietly slipped out of the room.
"Are you sure it was Lillian?" Samantha called Leah from the stairwell.
Intimidated by Samantha's stern tone, Leah hesitated. "I think so. I saw her from a distance, wearing a hospital gown."
Samantha, not satisfied, said, "Alright, I'll ask Alexander."
Lillian got back to the room and messaged Alexander on Facebook, asking him to go home early to be with Luke. Kelly and Melvin would stay at the hospital tonight.
Over the weekend, in their friends' group chat
Wendy: [I don't have to work today. Let's hang out!]
She was probably just waking up.
Angela hadn't spoken for a while, likely busy with something.
Bored at the hospital, Lillian wanted company, so she sent a photo of herself in a hospital gown. They quickly asked what had happened.
"I'll send you my location. Come over and chat," Lillian sent a voice message, adding, "Don't forget to bring me some good food."
They arrived quickly, one with a bouquet and the other with a bag of snacks.
"Lillian, did you have a miscarriage?" Wendy asked, then quickly corrected herself. "I'm just talking nonsense."
Angela asked, "Did you have another scare? What happened this time?"
Lillian said, "It's not me but Oscar. He had an episode yesterday, and I fainted from fright, which caused me to start bleeding. The doctor advised me to stay in the hospital for a few days to protect the baby."
"Is Oscar okay now?" They asked in unison.
"Luckily, he was saved in time," Lillian said, eyeing the snacks.
Angela laughed and moved them away, saying, "Don't look at those. We bought them for ourselves. You can have some fruit."
"I don't want fruit!" Lillian said unhappily. "I want to eat with you!"
Kelly didn't interrupt their conversation and went to the outer room. With her friends there, Lillian's pent-up emotions were released through their chat.
Time flew by, and soon it was afternoon. They were thinking about ordering takeout, planning to eat before leaving.
Angela looked at her phone and said, "Lillian, you shouldn't have takeout. Just eat whatever your family brings you."
She then asked Wendy, "What do you want to eat?"
Wendy, looking at her phone absentmindedly, said, "I don't know."
"What's up with you?" Angela noticed she wasn't looking at a takeout menu but at Facebook, where a message read: [Wendy, where are you? I'll pick you up, and we can have dinner together.]
Angela glanced at the name and murmured, "Mr. Wade is quite diligent."
"Who's this Mr. Wade? Did you get a boyfriend?" Angela asked in surprise.
