Chapter 4 Constantly Trying to Seduce Me
Lillian let out a panicked yell and quickly knelt down, reaching to wipe the wet spot on his trousers while repeatedly apologizing, "Mr. Sinclair, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry..."
Her delicate touch around his thigh sent an electric shock through his body, leaving him tingling all over.
"Lillian!" Alexander gritted his teeth and moved back, "Stop it right now!"
Two such incidents in one day, he couldn’t help but suspect if it was intentional!
Lillian looked up at him fearfully, her voice trembling, "Mr. Sinclair, do you have a spare pair of trousers here?"
Just then, there was a knock at the door, which then opened. Taylor entered first, followed by Kevin and a man dressed in a sharp suit.
"Mr. Sinclair, Mr. Wellington..." Taylor’s voice trailed off as she took in the scene in front of her.
Alexander stood with his hands on his hips, his chest heaving, while Lillian was crouched in front of him, her face as red as her ears.
Taylor shot Lillian a fierce glare and said to Alexander, "Mr. Sinclair, Mr. Wellington is here."
She then turned to Lillian, speaking in a lowered voice, "Will you get out of here quick!"
Lillian stood up, glanced at Alexander's pants, and began to speak to Taylor, "Ms. Reed, Mr. Sinclair's pants..."
"Shut your mouth!" Alexander roared, shouting at Taylor, "Get out!"
Taylor, who had never seen Alexander so furious, took another glance at Lillian and left the room.
Theodore Wellington, with a smile on his face, approached Alexander and noticed a large wet spot around his groin. He couldn't help but let out a chuckle.
"Ha ha ha!" Theodore heartily joked, "Alexander, did you wet your pants?"
"It's not like that, not at all," Lillian quickly interjected to explain. "It was an accident. I spilled coffee on Mr. Sinclair's pants."
Fire seemed to shoot from Alexander's eyes as he glared at Lillian and warned her with deliberate emphasis, "From now on, you don't speak!" With that, he stormed off to the break room.
Lillian stuck out her tongue, visibly shaken, and remained silent by the side.
"Mr. Sinclair, you should be a bit gentler with the ladies," Theodore called after him with a laugh. He then eyed Lillian once more before settling back onto the sofa.
While Alexander was changing his clothes, Lillian tidied the floor. Soon afterward, he emerged from the break room.
They all took seats on the sofa. Lillian, clueless about why she had been asked to stay, stealthily glanced at Alexander, wondering what he might want from her.
Theodore placed a thick stack of papers on the table before them, his mouth curled into a professional smile as he said to Lillian, "Mrs. Sinclair, please take a look at this. It's a prenuptial agreement, covering assets, income, family responsibilities, and so forth. If you have no objections after reviewing it, you'll just need to sign on the dotted line."
Hearing the title "Mrs. Sinclair" made Lillian's brow furrow, a feeling of aversion stirring inside her, and her face slightly blushed with discomfort.
Alexander was visibly displeased as well and retorted, "Theodore, as a reputable lawyer, you should speak precisely. Who is Mrs. Sinclair here?"
Theodore just shook his head with a light laugh and didn't say a word, simply gesturing to Lillian to read the agreement.
Lillian's movements were somewhat stiff as she took the document and began to read. The dense legalese woven into small print was challenging for her to understand. Internally, she couldn't help mutter to herself.
'It sure is the way of the wealthy—whatever they do, they spell everything out in black and white, afraid someone might take advantage of them.'
Lillian stared blankly at the paper in front of her, her mind buzzing with criticism. Despite her thoughts, she didn't actually covet his wealth at all. If he hadn't insisted on dragging her to the registry, would she even be sitting here sifting through these documents?
"What don't you understand?" Theodore asked, noticing her intense focus on a particular section.
Lillian blinked, snapping out of her trance, and said softly, "Aside from a few technical terms, I can pretty much follow along."
Alexander, sitting across from her, watched her with a cool gaze. "Do you think it matters whether you understand it or not? There are so many clauses in the agreement. Do you really want us to wait here endlessly for you?"
Lillian looked down, her fingers picking at the corner of a page. The implication in his words was for her to sign quickly. What was the point in scrutinizing the details in a situation she couldn't change?
Without further thought, she picked up the pen, flipped to the last page, and signed her name with a swift stroke.
After all, this was a prenuptial agreement. She didn't have much to worry about, considering she was bringing nothing to the table financially.
Theodore gathered the documents, stood up, and said to Alexander, "I'll be going now, Alexander. Call me if you need anything."
Alexander rose as well, accompanying Theodore out of the office.
"Alexander, take it easy with your new blushing bride. She's sweet and charming. Don't always be so sour," Theodore remarked earnestly as they stood before the elevator.
Alexander, hands in his pockets, gave a sardonic laugh. "Sweet and charming? Don't be fooled by her act. Today alone she's sat on my lap and spilled coffee on me, trying to seduce me at every turn. She's quite the handful."
Theodore laughed. "Sounds entertaining."
Alexander waved dismissively, frustrated. "It's all my mother's fault."
Family matters are tricky to comment on. Just then, the elevator arrived, and Theodore patted Alexander's shoulder. "I'll be off then. Let's catch up when you're free."
Alexander waved back, and the elevator doors closed slowly.
Taylor had been watching from the secretary's office, waiting for Lillian to come out. After being scolded by Alexander earlier, she didn't dare to disturb her. Now, seeing him return without a guest, she hurried forward and said, "Mr. Sinclair, it's almost time for the dinner with Lollphe Group."
Walking back to his office, Alexander told her, "I'm not going to the dinner. You can go home."
Taylor was taken aback by his stern face and didn't dare to say much more. She simply nodded, "Understood."
Lillian hadn't left the office, waiting to talk to Alexander about something.
As he entered, she stood up from the couch and approached him. "Mr. Sinclair..."
"We should keep a certain distance," Alexander interjected, grabbing his coat from the rack with a cold tone in his voice.
Lillian took two cautious steps back, hesitated, and then asked, "Mr. Sinclair... after we register, do we have to live together?"
She thought, since he suggested a secret marriage, not wanting others to know, perhaps they could continue to live their separate lives.
Alexander had just put on his coat, picked up his cell phone from the desk to put it in his pocket, glanced at her sideways, and asked in return, "What do you think? If we each go our own way, why would I even bother with marrying you?"
Lillian felt hurt inside; she thought he could never speak kindly. A simple question, he always turned it into a sarcastic remark.
"Then may I go home to get some clothes and belongings before I come to your place?" she asked very carefully.
