Chapter 277 Call Me Blake
Alexander sincerely said, "Honey, I appreciate your trust in me all this time."
Lillian smiled, "I just think that since we're married, trust is a necessary condition. And besides, from my two years of experience as your secretary, Mr. Sinclair, you're not that kind of person."
Alexander said, "After being with you, I don't always think about Amy anymore. I only occasionally think about Amy on special days."
Lillian glanced at him sideways and asked leisurely, "Really?"
"Why would I lie to you? You heard Shae call me during the day, and I still haven't had time to pick up Amy's mementos. Isn't this enough to prove my love for you?"
"What kind of things are they?" Lillian asked curiously.
Alexander said, "She said it's some plane and train tickets and postcards. She must have saved them from our trips together."
"Honey, honestly, I don't mind. She's passed away, and there's no need to compete." Lillian said to him seriously, "I just hope that in the future, no matter what happens in our relationship, you won't hide anything from me or deceive me. Be straightforward and honest with me, even if you want a divorce. Just don't lie."
"Why talk about divorce?" Alexander also said seriously, "Although I don't think we'll have problems in our relationship, I promise you, I won't hide anything from you or lie to you, not even a benevolent lie. If you don't like it, I won't do it."
Lillian smiled with relief, leaned her head on his shoulder, and said emotionally, "Honey, I'm grateful that you said that. Sometimes, I find myself wondering if you could truly love someone like me. You have such a high status, while I'm just an ordinary person. Thinking about this makes me cherish our marriage even more and want to make it work."
"Honey, I love you. Be confident, we are a perfect match!" Alexander patted the back of her hand and said, "This topic is a bit heavy. Let's switch to something lighter. Our babies are listening, and they might think their father is not good."
As soon as he finished speaking, Lillian's belly moved twice. She laughed and said, "Honey, look, the babies agree with you. You're not a good father!"
"They didn't move earlier or later but chose to move right at this moment. Are they trying to annoy me?" Alexander said, pretending to be fierce.
Lillian covered her belly with both hands and said softly, "Babies, don't listen to him. He's just kidding, not angry."
Alexander touched her belly as if comforting the babies and said, "Yesterday, Lisa called me. She knows we're staying here and wants to visit. I invited their family to come over for the weekend."
Lillian said, "When did this happen? Why did Lisa call you?" Lillian reflexively felt uneasy.
Alexander said, "Don't worry, it's nothing. She asked about you and if you want to go back for your birthday."
Lillian said, "I'm always afraid she'll cause you trouble. But it's okay if they stay for a couple of days. I don't go back often, and Lisa is very vain. Without any substantial benefits, she will secretly be unhappy. She used to say that after I married you, I became distant from them." She smiled self-deprecatingly.
Alexander said, "Actually, Lisa likes to fight for benefits mainly for Adam and Camille. Now she has enough money, and Camille and Adam have stable jobs, so she has no worries. Next, she'll probably ask me to introduce partners for them."
Lillian said, "Honey, I think you're right. She'll want you to introduce someone wealthy like you to be Camille's boyfriend. The girl introduced to Adam can't be bad either and must be able to take care of the family. Everything has to go her way."
She laughed and said, "Oscar is also coming this weekend. We can have a family weekend together."
At a restaurant.
Blake handed the cut steak to Shae and said, "It's cut. Take your time eating."
"Thank you, Mr. Sinclair," Shae said with a smile.
Blake looked at her with interest and said, "Shae, don't call me Mr. Sinclair anymore. It makes us seem distant. Just call me Blake."
Shae looked up at him without objection, "Okay, Blake."
"Blake, why did you suddenly invite me to dinner today?" she asked, puzzled.
Blake said, "You've been so tired lately. I thought you deserved a good treat."
Shae gave him a coquettish glance and then slowly said, "It's the wedding season, so it's normal to be busy. I'd be worried if we weren't busy."
"Have you thought about how to spend the weekend?" he asked.
"You won't be spending it with me, so what does it matter what I think?" she joked.
Blake, feeling provoked, said, "Why can't I spend it with you? If you want, I can go out with you anytime!"
Shae saw his serious expression, which reminded her a bit of Alexander. It was like how Alexander used to speak impulsively in front of Amy.
"These days will be very busy. I don't even know what time I'll get off work." Shae restrained her thoughts, avoiding any confusion between Blake with Alexander, and dismissed him.
Blake, understanding the situation, didn't continue the topic further. He knew that some things Shae didn't want to make too clear, so he didn't ask and just did what he could.
At a corner table, Nico and Andy saw Blake and Shae.
"Nico, is your husband cheating? That woman looks so familiar." Andy, who was a bit nearsighted, squinted to see better.
Nico sneered, "Of course, she looks familiar. She's Alexander's ex-girlfriend's sister. Alexander didn't like her, but Blake does."
"So that woman is Shae? Didn't she go abroad?" Andy mumbled, squinting even more. "Your husband is smiling so happily. He probably never smiles like that with you at home, does he?"
"If you can't say anything nice, just shut up!" Nico angrily threw her fork onto her plate with a clatter.
She rose instantly, adjusted her dress, and walked over to Blake's table.
Andy called after her, "What are you doing? Don't get angry!"
Seeing her husband having dinner with another woman and smiling so happily, how could she not be angry? Nico was very angry, but she still maintained a smile on her face.
"Honey." She stood behind Blake and called softly, "What a coincidence. Didn't you say you were going to play cards with friends?"
