Chapter 158 Speak to Alexander

Lillian quickly stood up from the sofa, sweat forming on her forehead in her anxiety. Lisa had brought Lola along, and it was clear that this visit boded no good—every time she came, it was never for anything pleasant. Usually, it wouldn't matter, but now that Linda was here, Lillian was really worried she might say something inappropriate.

Pacing the living room, Lillian's anxiety was palpable. Linda noticed and grinned. "Lillian, you must miss your family, huh? You haven't been back in a while, and now Aunt Lisa's here with Lola. Have you told them about the baby?"

Lillian froze, hesitating. "I haven't told them yet. I was planning to do it in person when Alexander and I visit."

"Such big news should be shared right away," Linda scolded. "I'll tell them myself in a bit."

A few minutes later, the doorbell rang. Kelly dashed to open it.

Lisa and Lola greeted Kelly politely. Last time, Lola had been stopped at the gate, but now she was finally inside.

Lola's eyes widened at the sight of the spacious, lavish living room. Even the entryway decorations looked pricey. She couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy. 'We grew up together, so why did Lillian get to marry into money?' she thought bitterly.

Lisa and Lola walked in and saw Linda on the couch. Before they could ask who she was, Lillian quickly introduced them. "Aunt Lisa, this is Linda Sinclair."

"Grandma, this is Lisa and Lola," Lillian said, trying to keep her voice steady.

"Hello, Mrs. Linda Sinclair," Lola said politely.

Linda smiled from the couch. "Please, have a seat."

Lisa's eyes gleamed when she heard Linda's name. She sat next to Linda, took her hand, and said with a sugary smile, "Hello, please call me Lisa. We haven't had the chance to meet since the wedding. You look so lucky today, with such a rosy complexion and kind eyes. You'll live a long, happy life."

Linda chuckled. "You sure know how to flatter."

After a good laugh, Linda turned to Lisa. "Alexander and Lillian's marriage was a bit rushed. Alexander makes all his own decisions. We don't interfere."

"Yes, Alexander is the company president. He handles everything himself, and we understand," Lisa replied, still smiling.

"Ladies, have some coffee," Lillian said nervously, pushing a fruit plate towards Lola. "Lola, have some fruit."

Linda took a sip of her coffee, patted Lisa's hand, and beamed. "There's even better news than the wedding. Lillian's pregnant!"

"Really?" Lisa's eyes widened in surprise and joy. "Lillian, did you just find out? How far along are you?"

"Just over a month," Lillian admitted. She hadn't wanted Lisa to know so soon, but now...

When Lola heard the news, she choked on a grape and started coughing. Bitterly, she thought, 'She's even pregnant? All the luck is on her side!'

Lisa, whether genuinely happy or not, couldn't stop smiling. She turned to Linda and said, "If Lillian has a son, you'll have a great-grandson, and there will be four generations under one roof!"

"Lisa, we don't know if it's a boy or a girl yet," Lillian said, her tone slightly annoyed.

"It will definitely be a boy!" Lisa insisted. "Mrs. Linda Sinclair is very fortunate. She will surely have a great-grandson."

Lillian was speechless. Lisa, you should think before you speak.

Linda smiled and said, "Whether it's a grandson or a granddaughter, I will love them both!"

Lillian glanced uneasily at Linda. Aunt Lisa's behavior might not sit well with her.

After chatting for a while, Linda said, "You three continue talking. I'm going upstairs for a nap."

The three stood up, and Lillian helped Linda by the arm, calling Kelly to assist her upstairs.

In the living room, Lillian asked, "Lisa, why didn't you call me before coming?"

Lola sneered. "You would deny us entry if I phoned. Since you're married to Alexander and pregnant, you probably don't want to see us anymore."

Lillian replied coldly, "Lola, stop with your sarcastic remarks. If I really didn't want to see you, I wouldn't have let you in."

Lisa patted Lola and said, "Speak nicely to Lillian. She's pregnant now and shouldn't get upset."

Lola turned her head away and said nothing.

Lisa smiled at Lillian and said, "You've quickly carried the Sinclair family a child. Since you're pregnant, I shouldn't bring this up, but we have no one else to turn to."

"Is it about Adam again?" Lillian asked helplessly. Lisa might have a poor character, but she truly worried herself sick over her son.

"Yes, I've mentioned it several times, but you haven't helped us resolve it. That's why I brought Lola along today," Lisa said, pulling Lola closer. "You two haven't chatted in a long time."

Lillian knew Lisa well enough to understand she wouldn't bring Lola without a reason, so she asked, "Lisa, does Lola have something to ask of me?"

Lisa smiled and said, "Yes, Lillian, you're so clever. Lola is interning now but hasn't found a place she likes. Could you talk to Alexander about getting her a position at the Whale Group as his secretary?"

Lillian sighed silently, amused at how Lisa had everything planned out for Lola and Adam. She thought, 'You just tell me this and expect a result. But I feel very uneasy about bringing this up to Alexander.'

"Lisa, why don't you and Lola stay for dinner tonight? When Alexander comes back, you can talk to him directly. He can tell you his decision right away." Lillian threw the problem back to Lisa.

Lillian still cherished the bond with Lisa and Harry, who had raised her. By allowing Lisa to speak directly to Alexander, even if it didn't work out, it wouldn't be her fault.
