Chapter186 Cherish Lillian

Alexander shot her a sharp look and said, "Sorry."

Shae lowered her head. "It's cool. I get it, you miss Amy and lost it for a sec. It was just a hug, no biggie."

Alexander thought she really looked like Amy today. Her face, especially her eyes, were freakishly similar.

He couldn't help but ask, "Did you do your makeup like this on purpose?"

"Why?" Shae tilted her head, curious.

That head tilt made Alexander uneasy. She looked so much like Amy.

Shae was smart and knew how to mimic Amy, making him rely on her more. She had this trick down pat.

"Nothing, your makeup just looks a lot like hers," Alexander said coldly. "But you should just be yourself."

Feeling insulted, Shae asked emotionally, "Are you saying I dressed up as Amy to seduce you? We're cousins, and makeup just seals the deal. How could you think that?"

Alexander didn't want to hear her yelling, so he stepped back. "Fine, I'm wrong, okay?"

"No!" Shae's tears flowed. "You doubt me. Was I annoying at the party? I came up to sober up, ran into you, called you out of goodwill, and now it's my fault? Did I seduce you when you drunkenly hugged me? Don't you think it's too much to blame my makeup?"

Alexander looked at her coldly. "Stop making a scene and come down with me."

"How am I making a scene?" Shae shouted angrily. "Fine, you say I'm making a scene, then I'll show you a scene!" She walked towards the edge of the rooftop, as if to jump.

Alexander quickly pulled her down. "What are you doing!"

Looking at the cold and angry Alexander, Shae lost it, hugged him tightly, and cried in his ear. "Alexander, don't think so badly of me, okay? Please believe me."

Alexander forcibly pulled her arms off and pushed her away, his eyes cold. "Shae, watch your behavior! My words were inappropriate and hurt you, I apologize. But don't wear out the little affection I have left for you!"

With that, he turned and left without looking back.

Shae stood there crying, thinking, 'My plan was flawless. How did it turn out like this? I wanted him to feel guilty for hugging me. But why didn't he act as I expected? Instead, he scolded me. Was my acting too clumsy and he saw through it? Impossible! That head tilt, I practiced it hundreds of times.'

She walked to the edge of the rooftop and angrily slapped it. No matter what, she wouldn't give up.

She vowed, 'Alexander, I will make you fall for me sooner or later!'

Alexander went straight to the first floor, got in the car, and left.

"Mr. Sinclair, are you okay? Didn't drink too much?" Kevin asked, looking at him through the rearview mirror with concern.

Alexander said, "Had a bit too much, but I'm fine. Let's go home and have Kelly make some soup. But first, let's hit that fried chicken place from last time."

"Got it, Mr. Sinclair," Kevin replied, hitting the gas.

Back home, Lillian and Luke practically pounced on the fried chicken Alexander brought.

He chuckled, "You two are all about the fried chicken, huh? Shouldn't you be cutting back at night?"

"Mr. Sinclair, Lillian's pregnant, let her eat what she wants," Kelly said with a grin. "But Luke, you should probably chill on the chicken."

"No way, I want it, too!" Luke said, chomping on a drumstick. "I can eat what I want, like Lilian."

"What are you comparing yourself to my wife for?" Alexander said, heading to his room.

Lillian checked the time and said to Kelly, "He came back pretty early. I thought it would be ten."

Kelly, holding another box of fried chicken, smiled, "Mr. Sinclair is worried about you, afraid you'd be anxious." She then went to her room to eat fried chicken with Melvin.

"Lillian, Uncle Alexander is really good to you," Luke said seriously. "I really want to see you two get married."

Lillian looked at him amused, "You think too much. Eat quickly, then brush your teeth and hit the sack."

Luckily, tomorrow wasn't a school day, so they could sleep in. After eating, Lillian ran a couple of laps in the yard with Luke to digest, then went back to the room. On the bed, she read a bedtime story until Luke fell asleep.

Alexander had already showered and changed into pajamas. Lillian tidied up and lay down beside him.

Seeing his flushed face, Lillian asked, "How much did you drink tonight? You look a bit tipsy. Kelly made some soup for you. Want some?"

"I don't want to move. I'll drink it in the morning," Alexander said, turning off the light. "Sleep."

"Good night," Lillian said, turning over.

In the dark, Alexander lay on his back, recalling the feeling of hugging Shae earlier. At that moment, he really thought it was Amy, and all his longing turned into action.

He really missed Amy.

He sighed silently, turned to look at Lillian, then rolled over and hugged her. 'I should cherish Lillian,' he thought.

Early in the morning, before they woke up, Alexander's phone vibrated. It was Samantha.

"Alexander, Grandma had a heart attack and was taken to the hospital. Come to Whispering Hospital quickly," Samantha said.

Alexander quickly said, "Okay, I'm on my way."

Lillian woke up groggily and asked, "What's wrong?"

Alexander got out of bed to change and replied, "Go back to sleep. Grandma is in the hospital, and I'm going now."

"What happened to her? I want to go too," Lillian said, getting up.

Alexander said, "We don't know the situation yet. You stay home and wait for news. I think Grandma's good friend passed away, and she was shocked. Don't worry, I'll call you if anything happens."

Lillian advised, "Drive safely."

"Okay," Alexander said, going to wash up.

Before leaving, he gently pressed her back onto the bed, coaxing, "Sleep a bit more, and I'll be back." He kissed her forehead and left.
