Chapter 211 Kelly's Love
The next morning, it was drizzling.
Lillian woke up to the sound of rain. She slipped out of Alexander's arms, stretched, and made some indistinct sounds.
Alexander hugged her from behind and asked, "Did you sleep well last night?"
Lillian, still in his arms, replied playfully, "How dare you ask! You held me all night. It was hot, and I couldn't move. It was so uncomfortable."
Alexander chuckled and teased, "Really? I remember you crawled into my arms last night."
"That's not true!" Lillian said, trying to break free.
"Don't move. Let me hold you a bit longer," Alexander insisted.
Lillian wriggled like a fish, determined to get out. Alexander, not wanting to force her, let go.
"Careful," he advised as he released her.
She sat up, opened the curtains, and saw the gloomy rainy day. "Every year around my dad's death anniversary, it rains for days," she said wistfully.
"Where's your dad's grave?" Alexander asked. "Since you're pregnant, it's hard for you to go. I'll pay respects for you."
"My dad doesn't have a grave. His ashes are at the funeral home. I visit him there every year," Lillian said blankly.
"Where's your mom's grave?" Alexander asked again.
The word Mom felt unfamiliar to her. She sighed and said sadly, "Aunt Lisa told me that when I was four and Oscar was just born, she jumped into the river. Her body was never found."
Alexander, feeling heartbroken, hugged her gently. "Let's not talk about it. I'll go pay respects to your dad this year."
Held gently by him, Lillian's sadness faded. She smiled and asked mischievously, "I heard Amy's death anniversary is coming up too. Are you going to see her?"
Alexander's expression froze slightly, and he nodded uncomfortably. "Every year on her death anniversary and birthday, I visit her and chat with her."
Lillian, understanding, said, "You should go. Don't be so sensitive. I was just asking, not angry."
"I know," Alexander said emotionally. "Lily, thank you so much."
Lillian smiled and said, "Let's stop thanking each other like this, okay? It's getting annoying."
"Okay, I'll listen to you!" Alexander kissed her cheek.
The morning was tight on time, so they didn't linger. They got up, washed, and went to have breakfast together. They called Luke, and the three of them headed to the dining room.
In the dining room, Lillian was surprised by the spread. "Kelly, why did you prepare so much for breakfast?"
There were about ten dishes on the table.
Kelly came out of the kitchen and said, "You need to eat well now. I made these with balanced nutrition. You should eat more."
Lillian said with concern, "Kelly, you're working too hard. I don't want you to be so tired."
"It's just getting up early. When you're old, you sleep less and don't feel tired," Kelly said nonchalantly.
But Lillian knew Kelly was just trying to comfort her. Seeing Kelly's messy hair and anxious face, she realized how busy Kelly had been all morning.
Alexander pulled out a chair and said, "Let's eat."
Lillian felt all warm and fuzzy inside. No one had ever been this sweet to her. She knew Kelly's efforts weren't just for the baby but also out of love for her. She had to eat well and not waste Kelly's kindness.
"Where's Oscar? Why isn't he down for breakfast?" Luke asked.
Kelly replied, "He's not feeling great and needs his sleep, so he's not up this early."
As she spoke, she placed each dish into small plates and served a bowl of soup, putting them all in front of Lillian.
"Kelly, you've been busy all morning. You should eat too. Don't worry about me," Lillian said quickly.
Kelly finished setting the table and said, "Dig in. I'll go call Melvin for breakfast."
With that, she left.
Lillian picked up her bowl and ate seriously, tasting everything. Even the stuff she didn't like, she swallowed it down.
"Alexander, Kelly is so old and working so hard for me. I feel really bad. How about we hire another nanny to lighten Kelly's load?" Lillian suggested.
Alexander agreed, "Do you like Gina from last time? How about we call her over?"
"Gina is fine," Luke chimed in.
Lillian nodded. "She does a good job. Let's go with her."
"If Kelly knows how much you care about her, she'll be very happy," Alexander said.
After breakfast, Alexander took Luke out. Lillian, holding an umbrella, followed them. The rain was light and fine. She put her hand out to catch the raindrops, finding it amusing.
Before getting into the car, Alexander looked at her and said, "Honey, stop playing. Go back inside."
"Bye, honey," she waved cutely, watching him get into the car and drive away.
In the afternoon, Gina came over from Sinclair Villa. When Kelly knew it was Alexander's idea, she looked at Lillian gratefully. Lillian winked at her playfully.
Around five o'clock, the doorbell rang, and it was Angela. Since she had already informed security, she was brought over directly after registering.
"Didn't you say you'd come earlier in the afternoon? I thought you weren't coming," Lillian asked, sitting on the leather bench in the foyer.
Angela said, "I had a long meeting that dragged on until the end of the workday. I didn't even go back to the clinic but came straight here."
The two went inside, and Angela looked around the mansion, exclaiming, "Alexander has great taste. I love the decor style. This villa really makes me envious."
Lillian teased, "Angela, it's not fair. You can afford to live in a place like this too."
Sitting on the sofa, Angela asked, "Did the ultrasound show twins? Congratulations. Alexander must be thrilled, right?"
"Yes, he seemed very excited," Lillian recalled his slightly out-of-control reaction and laughed. "He kept asking the doctor if there was a mistake. Luckily, the doctor was patient. He's usually very self-controlled, but yesterday he really seemed to lose it."
"When these two babies are born, his out-of-control moments will increase," Angela teased.
Lillian laughed. "I can imagine!"
