Chapter 352 Caspian Invited Wendy to Dinner

Wendy had numerous questions swirling in her mind, but pressed for time, she hurriedly finished her breakfast and got into the car with Caspian. During the drive, she refrained from speaking much, fearing it might distract him, and instead quietly pieced the matters together in her own mind.

"I drank too much, my colleague called him, and on the way back, we continued drinking. Then I got completely drunk, probably threw up, and that's why my clothes were taken off," Wendy muttered, feeling she had pieced together last night's events quite completely.

"What are you mumbling to yourself about?" Caspian turned to look at her and asked.

Wendy repeated what she had muttered and then asked, "Am I right?"

"More or less," Caspian gave her a meaningful look and said earnestly, "In the future, when you're out drinking, know your limits. Don't get drunk again; it's embarrassing!"

"Stop it!" Wendy covered her ears to avoid hearing it. She had never realized how disgraceful she could be when drunk.

When they arrived at the studio, Wendy sternly warned him before getting out of the car, "Forget everything you saw this morning, got it?"

"Got it," Caspian said impatiently, urging her to get out of the car.

Wendy apologized repeatedly when she got to the office and then threw herself into work. It wasn't until lunch break that she had a moment to catch her breath.

She had eaten a late breakfast and wasn't hungry yet. While her colleagues went out for lunch, she decided to rest her head on the desk for a short nap. With her eyes closed and soft music playing in her ears, just as she was about to drift off, a vivid image suddenly appeared in her mind: she was leaning against a tree, saying, "Caspian, I like you!"

Wendy opened her eyes abruptly, stunned. Her hands covered her cheeks, which were flushing uncontrollably, leaving her utterly bewildered.

"Did I confess to Caspian?" she murmured, unable to believe she had been so bold and crazy. She shook her head and closed her eyes again, another sentence echoing in her mind-"Caspian, do you accept me?"

Wendy groaned, lying on the desk and wondering, 'How do things turn out like this? How could a few drinks make me so brave? Indeed, liquid courage is impressive.'

"What should I do? How will I face him in the future?" Wendy was anxious but helpless. She held her head in her hands and suddenly remembered it seemed he had rejected her confession; if he had agreed, he would have said something this morning.

Wendy was in despair. "I'm such an idiot! I must have heard that the first snowfall was a good time to confess and just happened to get drunk. Otherwise, I would never have confessed to him!" She regretted it deeply and blamed herself for drinking and embarrassing herself in front of him.

Suddenly, her phone rang with a Facebook notification. She opened it and found it was a message from Caspian: [Wendy, I'll treat you to dinner tonight.]

Wendy looked at the message and her intuition told her he wanted to talk about the confession last night; she couldn't give him that chance. This embarrassing matter should not be brought up again, so she replied: [I have to work late tonight.]

Caspian: [No problem, I'll wait for you. I've already reserved a table.]

Feeling embarrassed, Wendy suggested: [How about we invite a few friends to join us? What do you think?]

Caspian: [Don't invite anyone else. I just want to have dinner with you alone tonight. I have something to tell you.]

Wendy closed her eyes. His last sentence made her very nervous. Unable to refuse, she had to reply: [Alright, see you tonight.]

Caspian: [I'll pick you up after work.]

Wendy felt a tightness in her chest, exhaled, and encouraged herself, "It's okay; he's just going to reject me in person. I don't care!"

After an anxious afternoon, it was finally time to get off work. Wendy followed her colleagues out of the studio but didn't see Caspian's car. After parting with her colleagues, she looked around and sent him a Facebook message: [Where did you park?]

Caspian: [Across the street. You have such big eyes, yet you still can't see it.]

Wendy got into the car, pulled over the seatbelt, and asked casually, "What do you want to tell me that you had to invite me out for dinner?"

"You'll know soon enough. Why are you in such a hurry?" Caspian drove towards the restaurant.

Inside the restaurant, Wendy ate while saying to him, "Just tell me what it is."

Caspian, who had to drive and hadn't drunk, took a sip of tea and, after a moment of thought, said, "Wendy, why is love so damn frustrating? It's been so long since Evelyn and I called off our engagement, but I still think about her all the time. I still love her.

Hearing this, Wendy felt a pang in her heart, as if someone was squeezing it hard, causing her unbearable pain. She forced a bitter smile. "No matter how much pain and suffering you've endured in love, with time, you'll slowly forget."

Caspian nodded. "You're right."

"You’re not seriously going to discuss this with me, are you?" Wendy ate and asked, feeling a bit sulky, wanting to know how he would reject her.

Caspian smiled. "It's not that I had something specific to say. I just thought of it and said it."

"I know, you're telling me that you still love Evelyn," Wendy said coldly.

Caspian was silent for a few seconds and then said, "I'm not a good man. I've pursued Evelyn for so many years, seeming like a devoted person, but I often go to clubs." Then he laughed self-deprecatingly. "Thinking about it, Evelyn not liking me is right. Someone like me may seem reliable on the surface, but anyone who likes me is unlucky!"

"Why? In my opinion, you're not bad at all!" Wendy gave him a mischievous glance and started to play dumb like him.

"Wendy, if you have met enough men and make some comparisons, you'll find that I'm not that great!" Caspian spared no effort in belittling himself.

Wendy looked at him seriously and said coldly, "Caspian, what exactly do you want to tell me? Please be straightforward and stop beating around the bush." She had no patience to listen to him anymore. If he was going to reject her, he should just say it out directly!
