Chapter 228 Emily Saved Oscar

Shae saw Alexander get out of his car and quickly hopped out of hers, jogging over to him.

"Alexander!" Shae called out.

Alexander stopped and turned, frowning. "What are you doing here?"

"I was waiting for you." Shae stood in front of him, looking up with a complicated expression.

Alexander stepped onto the stairs. "Shae, I've told you, stop calling me Alexander. This is the final warning. Leave and don't come back."

"Fine, Mr. Sinclair. Why did you fire me?" Shae grabbed his arm, confused and hurt.

"Shae, everyone has limits, and you crossed mine! Out of respect for Amy, I'm giving you one last chance. If you hurt Lily again, I won't be so kind!" Alexander shook off her hand angrily.

"I didn't do anything! Since your last warning, I've stayed out of trouble!" Shae pleaded.

Alexander's face remained stern. "I don't want to argue. Just stay out of trouble and live peacefully."

With that, he turned to leave.

"Alexander!" Shae grabbed him again, calling out instinctively.

Alexander paused, and Shae stepped in front of him, tearful and pleading, "Why don't you believe me? I really didn't do anything!"

Her eyes were filled with tears, and her voice was pitiful. She clutched his arm tightly. Alexander suddenly thought of Amy. 'Shae looked so much like Amy in that moment.'

He blinked, trying to clear his head, and removed her hand. "Shae, Taylor has already been sent to Aestrale. The only reason I'm not holding you accountable is because of Amy. This is your last chance. You have no credibility with me anymore. Understand?"

He brushed off her hand and turned to leave.

Shae watched him leave, feeling a mix of anger and injustice, her hands clenched into fists.

She thought, 'Alexander, one day you'll regret this!'

The day passed quickly, and soon it was evening. After work, Alexander bought dinner and took it to the hospital.

"Mr. Sinclair, Oscar still hasn't woken up. What should we do?" Kelly was too worried to eat.

Emily was also anxious. "I'll get the doctor to check again. Why hasn't he woken up yet?"

Alexander told them, "Worrying won't help. You two should eat to keep your energy up."

He then said to Kelly, "I have some things to take care of, so I'll be leaving. You two stay here tonight and keep an eye on the monitors. Call the doctor immediately if anything happens."

"Don't worry, Emily and I will keep watch," Kelly said, walking him to the door.

Alexander added, "I think Oscar will probably wake up tonight. Call me if anything happens."

Kelly replied, "I will."

After Alexander left, a figure emerged from a hidden spot, lowering the brim of his baseball cap as he walked and made a phone call. "Blake, it's time to make a move."

Night fell. Emily, struggling to stay awake, yawned and rested her chin on her hand as she watched Oscar.

Kelly checked the time. "It's almost one o'clock. You should get some sleep."

"Kelly, you should rest. I can stay up," Emily said, "I'm still young and used to staying up. You should go rest."

Kelly, clearly exhausted, walked to the other bed. "I'll sleep for a bit, and then we'll switch."

Emily nodded. "Kelly, sleep well."

Outside, the stars twinkled, and the machines hummed softly. After more than an hour, Emily couldn't hold on and fell asleep with her arm on the bed.

The room was silent, with only the hallway lights providing some illumination. Suddenly, the door slowly opened, and someone quietly entered.

A man, dressed in black with a mask and a low-brimmed baseball cap, tiptoed to the bedside, a cunning smile in his eyes.

He bent down, reaching for the oxygen mask. Just as his hand touched it, Emily woke up. Seeing the man, she screamed.

"Who are you?" Emily shouted, seeing his hand on the oxygen mask. She quickly yelled again. "Help! There's an intruder!"

Her shout woke Kelly and alerted the doctors and nurses.

Seeing his cover blown, the man tried to escape. Emily grabbed him. "Hold up! Who the heck are you?"

Kelly hurried over to help, grabbing his other arm. The doctors and nurses joined in to subdue him.

The man struggled, shaking his arms violently. He managed to break free, knocking down a doctor but not harming Emily. Seizing the opportunity, he fled the room.

"Emily, check on Oscar!" Kelly called out, nervously.

The doctor got up from the floor and came to the bedside, instructing the nurse, "Replace the oxygen mask."

The nurse carefully removed the old mask and quickly put on a new one.

"Doctor, is he okay?" Emily asked.

The doctor lifted Oscar's eyelids. "He's fine. It looks like the man didn't have time to do anything before you caught him."

Emily inquired, "Will he wake up tomorrow?"

The doctor replied seriously, "I hope so. Otherwise, how could he face such a dedicated girlfriend like you?"

Emily retorted, "I've told you many times. I'm not his girlfriend!"

Seeing her anger, the doctor quickly said, "I got it."

Kelly said, "Doctor, you're bleeding from the mouth. Get that fixed up first."

The doctor replied, "Okay, you two should rest as well."

After the doctor left, Emily calmed down and said to Kelly, "Kelly, that scared me to death. If I hadn't woken up in time, would Oscar be dead now?"

Kelly, still shaken, replied, "Yes, Emily, you saved Oscar."

The man ran out of the hospital and got into a car at the back door. Removing his mask, he looked at the scratches on his hand and face and cursed, "When did they scratch me? I didn't even feel it."

Rena glanced at the scratches on Blake's face and mocked, "Did you fail to pull the oxygen tube and get caught in the act?"
