Chapter 370 Caspian, Come Stay with Me!

Kimberly opened the door and saw Wendy holding a kitchen knife, startling her. She quickly asked, "What are you doing?"

Wendy put her index finger to her lips and then pointed towards the door, whispering, "Someone is trying to pick the lock outside."

"You can't be hearing that right again, can you?" Kimberly asked in disbelief.

"It's true, come with me," Wendy said, turning and motioning for Kimberly to follow.

They had only taken a few steps when they heard the sound of the lock turning and the door opening.

Kimberly and Wendy, never having encountered such a situation before, screamed in terror.

The room was pitch black, with thick curtains blocking out the light. Wendy's first instinct was to turn on the light, but in her panic, she forgot where the switch was.

The hallway light shone in a bit, and Kimberly saw who had entered. She screamed in fear, "Nathan?"

Nathan, clearly drunk, stumbled in, cursing, "This lock is so high-tech! It cost me $100 to open it!"

Seeing that it was Nathan who had picked the lock, Wendy became even more frightened. The kitchen knife fell from her hand, and she started to run into the room.

Nathan, looking like he was out for revenge, slammed the door shut and easily found the light switch.

Before Wendy could run back to the room, he grabbed her by the collar, lifting her like a cat, and angrily asked, "Trying to run? Where's your landlord? Call him here! How dare he hit me?"

Kimberly rushed forward to hit his hand, "Nathan, let go of Wendy! This has nothing to do with her. If you want to vent, take it out on me!"

"Get lost!" Nathan kicked Kimberly in the stomach, sending her crashing into the wall.

"Kimberly!" Wendy cried out, her voice trembling with fear.

"You get over there too!" Nathan mercilessly threw Wendy over, and she clung to Kimberly in panic.

Nathan shouted at them, "What? Scared now? Women are so pathetic!"

After shouting, he grabbed Kimberly's arm and yanked her up, slapping her hard across the face. The sound of the slap echoed, and Kimberly wailed in pain, while Wendy was too scared to move.

"Stop hitting me, please let me go!" Kimberly begged, but Nathan only slapped her harder.

Wendy, curled up by the TV cabinet, covered her ears, but Kimberly's wails and the sound of slaps still reached her, filling her with terror.

After hitting Kimberly repeatedly, Nathan shoved her to the ground and went after Wendy.

"Don't touch her!" Kimberly shouted, her face swollen and blood trickling from the corner of her mouth. "Take it out on me; she hasn't done anything to you!"

Nathan snarled, "I'll hit whoever I want!"

He reached for Wendy, and Kimberly tried to block him while Wendy tried to dodge.

Suddenly, Wendy's wrist was grabbed by Nathan, and she screamed in fear. Seeing this, Kimberly frantically tried to pull him away, "Nathan, let her go, let her go!"

Wendy struggled to free her hand, but Nathan held on tightly. Kimberly tried to hit Nathan's hand, but he slapped her twice more with his other hand.

In the chaos, Wendy let out a scream.

Nathan unexpectedly let go, and Wendy stumbled backward, stepping on the handle of the kitchen knife. She twisted her ankle and fell, hitting her head on the coffee table, and blood started to flow.

"Wendy!" Kimberly rushed over to help her, quickly pulling out tissues to press on the wound.

At that moment, there was a knock on the door, and a security guard shouted, "Please open the door!"

Wendy, in immense pain, started to cry. Before she lost consciousness, she heard Kimberly shouting, "Help!"

When she woke up again, it was already the next morning.

Wendy looked around the unfamiliar environment and realized she was in a hospital room. Her forehead throbbed with pain, and her ankle hurt a lot too. The pain brought back memories of the previous night, filling her with fear.

She lifted the blanket and tried to get out of bed to go to the bathroom, just as the door opened and Caspian walked in with breakfast.

"What are you doing?" he quickly put the breakfast on a table and walked over to ask.

"Going to the bathroom," Wendy said, blushing. "I'm fine, I can do it myself."

Caspian didn't listen to her and helped her slowly get out of bed, saying, "The doctor said you have a sprained ankle and need to rest in bed. You can't move around freely."

Wendy nodded and, at the bathroom door, said, "I can go in by myself from here."

Caspian didn't insist, "Be careful."

He set up the breakfast, and Wendy slowly walked out of the bathroom. Seeing her move so slowly, he picked her up and put her back on the bed.

Wendy's face got even redder.

"Did you bring me to the hospital?" Wendy asked.

Caspian handed her a fork, his expression darkening slightly, "No, it was the security guards. They called me on the way to the hospital, and I came over."

"What happened after that?"

"They took Nathan to the police station!" Caspian rolled his eyes. "That bastard, I wasn't going to let him off easily, but your roommate begged me to let him go, crying and even kneeling. I thought she deserved to get hit!"

Wendy took small bites of her muffin, finding it unbelievable that Kimberly would plead for Nathan.

"I told her to move out today. I also changed the locks. It was the security guard's fault last night that this happened. I fired them!" Caspian said angrily.

He then looked at her forehead, his tone softening, "Does the wound hurt?"

"It hurts," Wendy said pitifully, pouting. "My foot hurts too."

"Should we inform your parents?"

"No, if they find out, they won't let me rent a place anymore," Wendy shook her head vigorously.

Caspian asked, "Then what will you do? You can't go to work, and who will take care of you at home? Plus, you're afraid of the dark. How will you live alone?"

Wendy thought for a moment and said, "I can ask Angela to stay with me."

"Do you have any other options? Angela is so busy with work. Can she take good care of you?"

"Let me call her and ask." Wendy wasn't sure either; Angela was very busy.

As expected, when she called, Angela was on a business trip. She had flown to Atlanta last night for an academic conference. What a coincidence! Lillian wasn't around, and neither was Angela. Who would stay with her?

"I think you should just go home for a few days. Once you're better, you can go back to your rental," Caspian suggested.

"No way, I can't go home. If my parents see me like this, they definitely won't let me live on my own again, I'm sure of it!" she said firmly.

Frowning, she thought for a moment, then looked at him and said, "Caspian, come stay with me!"
