Chapter 292 Amy Is Back

He had suspected before that Shae was Amy. He just thought his idea was too crazy. How could it be possible? He felt he was overthinking.

But until this moment, when she mentioned "Peach Blossom Island," he couldn't help but become suspicious again. Perhaps what happened back then was not so simple, and there were hidden truths that he was unaware of.

Shae's smile froze, and she stared at him blankly. Her heart was pounding violently, and her lips trembled slightly with excitement.

"Alexander, when did you find out?" She felt as if someone was choking her, making it hard to breathe, and asked him in a tight voice.

Alexander's eyes widened in astonishment, and he asked, "What do you mean? Are you Amy?"

Shae stepped forward excitedly, grabbing his arms and shaking them vigorously, saying, " I am Amy! Look closely at my eyes. You always used to say my eyes were the most beautiful!"

This sudden reversal shocked Alexander as well. "You say you're Amy? Amy?"

Shae kept nodding, tears streaming down her face. "Alexander, didn't you already guess it? Why don't you believe me? I just had plastic surgery to become Shae, but if you look closely at my eyes, my eyes would never change."

Alexander stared into Shae's eyes. Almond-shaped, they looked so pitiful when she cried, just like Amy's eyes that secretly cried after every argument with him.

Could it be that his guess was right? Was she Amy? He stood there, not speaking or moving.

Shae said, "Alexander, believe me, I am Amy. After the car accident, I had plastic surgery to become Shae and went abroad. I've kept this secret in my heart for many years. I don't want to hide it anymore. If I continue like this, I am afraid I will truly lose you forever!"

Shae—no, she should be called Amy now—emotionally hugged Alexander tightly, wrapping her arms around his waist and crying out her grievances.

Alexander shook off his reverie and returned to his senses, pulled her away, and asked coldly, "What happened back then? Why did you have plastic surgery to become Shae? Who made you do this?"

Amy frowned and pondered without speaking.

Alexander said, "Now that you've already told me the truth, what else are you holding back? Was it my mother?"

Amy silently nodded.

Alexander closed his eyes briefly. He knew it!

Amy cried, "Alexander, don't blame me. I didn't want to deceive you back then. I was more miserable than you! Your mother didn't agree with us being together. Shae died in the car accident, and your mother found me unconscious before you did and she took it upon herself to have me undergo plastic surgery."

"When I woke up, I had become Shae. She used my family's business and the wrongdoings of my father and brother to threaten me, telling me not to say anything to anyone. To protect my family, I had to agree. This secret, besides Shae's parents, not even my parents know!"

Alexander angrily asked, "What about me? Why didn't you tell me? Do you know that when you died, I almost couldn't go on living!"

"I know!" Amy cried, "At that time, your power wasn't strong enough. How could you fight against your mother? I didn't want you to become enemies with your mother because of me. Alexander, I thought if you died for me, then I wouldn't want to live either. What's the point of living with someone else's face?"

Alexander glared at her fiercely. Suddenly, he yanked her in front of him and quickly unbuttoned two or three buttons of her shirt, he then quickly turned her around, half-pulling down the shirt to expose her shoulder. A red, circular birthmark came into view on her back.

His pupils dilated, and he seemed to breathe a sigh of relief.

Amy tilted her head and softly said, "Now, do you believe me?" After speaking, she slowly turned around.

Alexander looked down at her slowly buttoning her shirt, his eyes full of sadness. Years of pain, guilt, and longing turned into nothing at this moment.

In his heart, there was also joy, the joy of regaining something lost, the joy of the truth dispelling years of accumulated sorrow.

He hugged her tightly as if trying to merge her into his body. In her ear, he said fiercely, "Amy, you're such a liar. You made me suffer so much!"

Returning to the familiar and warm embrace, Amy felt like she had returned to a safe harbor, she completely relaxed and began to cry without any reservations.

Lillian blinked and hung up the voice call. She cursed herself for being foolish, for answering the call the second time it came. Now, just imagine, they must be hugging each other, one overjoyed, the other crying with grievance.

"Lillian, I have to go back," Leah's words shook her out of her reverie and returned her to her senses.

She forced a smile, stood up, and said, "Some friends are coming over later. Why don't you stay and hang out with us?"

Leah walked towards the entrance and said, "I already have plans today."

"Then I won't hold you up. Have fun on your date," Lillian said as she saw her out the door.

She was distracted, having heard the conversation in the office earlier loud and clear. Amy was back. What would he do? This question kept running through her mind. As she was going down the steps, she wasn't paying attention and twisted her ankle, falling hard onto the steps.

She screamed in pain and didn't dare to move.

Leah was also startled and asked in a panic, "Lillian, are you okay? Let me help you up."

"Don't touch me!" Lillian's voice was tinged with tears, extremely scared, and she didn't dare to move.

Leah waited a few seconds, then quickly turned back into the house to call Gina and Oscar.

When they came out, they saw Lillian clutching her belly in pain, sweat beading on her forehead. She said to Leah, "Leah, take me to the hospital quickly."

Gina and Oscar were also shocked and together carried her to the car.

"Oscar, you stay home. I'll go with Mrs. Sinclair," Gina said urgently, sitting in the back with Lillian.

Leah didn't waste a moment, stepped on the gas, and drove out of the yard.

Alexander and Amy had both calmed down considerably. Sitting on the sofa, he looked at her and said, "What do you plan to do about this?"

Amy thought for a moment and said, "I've been Shae for so many years, I'm used to it. Whether I restore my identity or not, I don't care."

She looked at Alexander with intense eyes, "You know, I want to be with you, Alexander. For so many years, I've dreamed of this day, of coming back to you."

Alexander looked at her seriously and said solemnly, "Amy, I'm married to Lily now. We can't be together."
