Chapter 156 Alexander is the President of a Company
Alexander said, "When Caspian gets bored, he'll watch. I'll keep him company."
Lillian marveled at their wealth and extravagance, able to install whatever they wanted in their home. This home theater was way bigger than her aunt Lisa's house.
Lillian watched with excitement as the movie started. She loved this film, which had been up for several awards. The love story between the protagonists had been incomprehensible to her when she was still in school, yet she had envied it.
There were a few steamy scenes, and Lillian, feeling awkward with Alexander next to her, would look down to drink water or offer him popcorn, asking, "Do you want some??"
Alexander shook his head, amused. "Why are you so innocent?"
Lillian was confused but soon got it. She pretended to hit him.
The movie ended with the protagonists reuniting. Lillian wiped her tears and said, "This movie is amazing."
Alexander took her hand and led her out. "Next time, let's watch a comedy."
"How about an animated film?" Lillian asked.
"As long as it doesn't make you cry, it's fine." Alexander escorted her to her room and went to find Luke. Lillian went back to her room, quickly brushed her teeth, and got into bed, eager to sleep. Now that she was pregnant, she couldn't stay up late anymore.
She lay in the middle of the large bed, stretching her arms and marveling at how spacious and comfy it was. Just as she was about to close her eyes, she heard voices outside, and then the door opened. Luke and Alexander walked in.
"It's really late. If I don't tell you to sleep, you'll keep playing. Now that school has started, I have to take your phone," Alexander scolded Luke. "Come on, let's take a bath."
"I understand, Uncle Alexander," Luke said, looking down. Seeing Lillian sitting on the bed, surprised, he added, "Lillian, this room is huge!"
"This is my room," Lillian protested as she watched them head to the bathroom. "You can't bathe here. Go upstairs."
"This is our room," Alexander said, pulling Luke into the bathroom.
Lillian sat on the bed, thinking in bewilderment, 'So, this isn't my room after all. I was happy for nothing!'
"No wonder it's such a big room!" Lillian looked around, feeling upset but having nowhere to vent.
Twenty minutes later, Alexander and Luke came out. Luke had been scolded by Alexander in the bathroom and obediently climbed into bed.
Alexander took their pillows and blankets from the closet and threw them on the bed, saying coldly, "I criticize you to correct you, not to make you sulk. Go to sleep."
Seeing that neither of them was in a good mood, Lillian thought it wasn't the right time to ask her questions.
She patted Luke's pillow and softly coaxed, "If you go to bed angry, you'll wake up with your socks on your hands and your pajamas on your head."
"Really?" Luke asked, worried.
Lillian lay down with him, patting him gently. "Of course it's true. I had a neighbor who experienced that. Your Uncle Alexander criticizes you for your own good."
"I understand," Luke said, feeling wronged, his eyes slightly red as he nodded.
"We'll just fix it in the future," Lillian said, holding him close and patting him. "I'll hold you while you sleep."
Luke found a comfy spot in Lillian's arms and quickly dozed off. Alexander turned off the wall lamp and slowly lay down. Lillian adjusted Luke, glanced at Alexander, and said, "Wasn't this room changed for me?"
Alexander lay flat, calmly saying, "Yeah, the room was changed for you, but Luke and I need it too."
Lillian sighed, "You got my hopes up. I thought it was just for me."
"You're pregnant now. I don't feel comfortable with you sleeping alone. As your belly grows, you'll need someone by your side to take care of you," Alexander said. "I've already contacted Luke's psychologist. I'll take him on Saturday to see if we can get him to sleep on his own before your belly gets too big."
"Did Luke go through some trauma when he was little?" Lillian asked, feeling both heartbroken and curious.
"He was kidnapped when he was a kid," Alexander said somberly.
"Really?" Lillian looked at the sleeping Luke, feeling deeply sorry for him.
Alexander turned to his side and said, "Sleep."
"Goodnight." Lillian turned over, her back to him.
Through the gap in the curtains, a sliver of moonlight fell on Lillian's back. Alexander stared at her slender back and couldn't help but smile bitterly. He thought, 'Why turn away? Wouldn't it be better if we faced each other?'
The next morning, Luke and Alexander got up early, while Lillian dozed off. After everything quieted down, she slept a bit more. When she woke again, it was already ten in the morning.
After washing up, she went to the dining room. Linda and Kelly were in the kitchen, preparing a fruit salad. Seeing her come in, Linda put down the fruit and smiled, asking, "Lillian, did you sleep well last night? What would you like to eat today?"
"Anything is fine. I've been eating well these past few days, no nausea at all." Lillian sat at the dining table and asked Kelly, "What was for breakfast this morning?"
"Would you like a sandwich?" Kelly asked.
"Sure," Lillian chatted with Linda while eating. Suddenly, her phone buzzed with a Facebook notification. It was a link from Shirley, titled "Thought he was an unknown celebrity, turns out he's the President of a company. Their interaction looks so sweet!"
A video from their dinner last night appeared when she clicked on it. Alexander kissed Lillian and had romantic conversations later.
Lillian was so shocked that the food in her spoon fell back into the bowl.
Linda looked over and asked, "What's wrong? Did you burn yourself? Eat slowly."
Lillian nodded and replied to Shirley, "Where did this video come from? Does everyone know?"
"The whole company knows," Shirley replied.
Lillian felt helpless. She wasn't afraid of people knowing—they were legally married. But it felt strange and a bit awkward.
In the president group chat, a Facebook link was also shared. Caspian posted the video, and Tom quickly followed suit. These two friends were very coordinated.
Tom: [Lillian, I didn't expect you and Alexander to be so sweet.]
Caspian: [Alexander isn't in the group. Let's chat.]
Lillian looked at her phone and smiled wryly. She quickly took a screenshot and sent it to Alexander, along with the link.
