Chapter 117 Don't Be Too Hasty

Alexander glanced over and said coldly, "I don't want that!"

Lillian, seeing his awkward expression, still reached out her hand and coaxed him: "I brought it for you. Could you take it? You gave me flowers, so I'm giving you chocolate."

"I never said those flowers were from me. Stop flattering yourself! I have no reason to give you flowers!" Alexander retorted.

He vehemently denied it, looking a bit exasperated, much like a student couple bickering.

Lillian smiled and decided not to argue.

"Fine, I get it wrong. The flowers aren't from you. I am flattering myself!" Lillian said fawningly. "Thank you for coming to the police station to save me. The chocolate is a thank-you gift, okay?"

Alexander started the car and said disdainfully, "The chocolate packaging is so ugly, even with a bow!"

"It's for Valentine's Day," Lillian removed the bow and said, "Alright, now it's not ugly. Please accept it!"

Alexander reluctantly opened his palm towards her, indicating he accepted it.

Lillian quickly handed over the chocolate with a smile. "It's the taste of childhood, Zebra Chocolate. I had it when I was a kid. Take a bite. If it makes you happy, you won't be mad at me anymore!"

"Do you know how to cheer me up? Can you try not to piss me off so much?" Alexander looked at the zebra on the chocolate wrapper and smiled wryly. 'Fine, whether it is high-end or not, it's the thought that counts.'

Lillian said a bit aggrievedly, "I don't mean to make you angry. Besides, I don't believe that it is my fault. And I don't expect that Tom would call you."

"Do you think I wouldn't know if he didn't call? Idiot!" Alexander scolded her angrily, "Three girls, after finishing dinner, go home. Why go to a bar? That's not a place for you."

"Wendy said she had never been and wanted to check it out. I haven't been either and was curious. Angela said the bar we went to was decent, no shady people," Lillian retorted.

"Do you think you're justified? How dare you talk back? Are there no shady people? Then how do you get those scratches on your face?" Alexander asked again, "What are you drinking?"

"Cocktails, Angela ordered," Lillian said weakly, looking down.

Alexander exhaled deeply and warned her, "Lillian, telling you, if you dare go to those kinds of places again, I won't let you go out! Got it?"

"Get it. I won't go again," she replied obediently.

In the dimly lit car, Lillian wanted to turn to see Alexander's expression. She wondered, 'I don't know if his seemingly concerned outburst is real or fake. If fake, who is he putting on a show for? If real, why is he concerned me? Does he like me?'

Her heart suddenly raced because she couldn't think of any other reason. She adjusted her breathing, forcing herself not to ask, fearing it was just her wishful thinking and would lead to awkwardness.

Alexander looked straight ahead, driving steadily. The anger on his face had faded, leaving a calm expression. But inside, he was annoyed at his overreaction. 'She's just a contract wife. I don't care so much. Would she get suspicious and figure something out?'

He glanced at her while making a turn. Her expression was normal, nothing unusual. 'That foolish girl probably doesn't sense my excessive concern. I should restrain,' he warned himself internally.

When they got home, a warm yellow floor lamp lit the living room, giving it a cozy feeling.

Kelly heard the noise, came out of her room with a robe on, and saw the two of them. She relaxed and said, "Oscar took Luke to bed. You two should rest soon as well."

"Kelly, why are you still up? Go to bed," Lillian said softly.

Kelly noticed the injuries on Lillian's face and asked in surprise, "Lillian, what happened to you? Do you get into a fight?"

"It's nothing, it doesn't hurt. I'll explain tomorrow," Lillian replied.

"Do you put any medicine on it? I'll go get some for you," Kelly said.

"I did. Don't worry about it. I'm fine," she reassured Kelly and sent her back to her room.

Lillian went to her room, took off her down jacket, and went to the mirror to check her face. The injuries did look quite scary. She touched around the wounds, worriedly thinking if they would leave scars. She sighed and took her change of clothes to the bathroom.

The events of the night were too stimulating. Her brain was still excited. Even though it was very late, Lillian didn't feel sleepy at all.

She leaned against the headboard and logged onto a forum. She hadn't been there for a while. Many people were urging her to update, while some even asked about her progress with Crazia Alex and when the comic would be updated. Crazia Alex was a virtual character on the forum that Lillian took Alexander as the model prototype.

She posted about her recent events and doubts on the forum. Unexpectedly, netizens replied quickly, one after another.

[OP, what are you still struggling with? This is clearly him liking you.]

[Princess Seven, you're so slow. The male lead's actions are so obvious. Can't you still see it?]

All right, Princess Seven was Lillian's ID on the forum.

[I don't think so. Crazia Alex doesn't quite like her yet, but he does have some good feelings. Princess Seven, don't rush. Observe a bit more.]

Lillian resonated with this comment and muttered to herself, 'This one seems quite reliable.'

[Princess Seven, we want to see the comic. When will you update?]

Lillian replied: [I'll draw a bit in the next couple of days and update over the weekend.]

After logging off the forum, she saw that it was really late and decided to sleep. Fortunately, tomorrow was the weekend. She didn't have to work.

Angela dropped Wendy off at home. Before getting out of the car, she said to Wendy, "Don't worry about the injuries on your face. Come to my place tomorrow, and I'll give you an exclusive formula that guarantees no scars."

"Really? That's great," Wendy said happily, "Drive safely and text me on WhatsApp when you get home."

Angela smiled and nodded, then drove off.

As the car drove along, Angela glanced in the rearview mirror and slowly pulled into a parking spot. Tom's car also came to a stop behind her.

Angela got out of the car, stood by the door, and watched Tom walk over. She asked, "Why are you following me?"

"I'm taking you home," Tom said confidently. "It's late, and I'm worried about you."

Angela couldn't stand people being affectionate towards her, especially someone she didn't like. She got straight to the point and said, "Tom, I don't like you. You don't need to waste your time on me."

"It doesn't matter if you don't like me now. I'll make you like me over time," Tom said determinedly, "Angela, I've liked you for a long time. For years, I've been drifting around, unable to give you anything. Now that I'm back, I'm going to win you over and reclaim everything I've lost!"
