Chapter 205 Beatrice Pleads for Blake
Beatrice shot a sneaky grin from the shadows.
She pulled away from his hug, sat up, grabbed his hand, and said, "Ethan, we've been together forever. If I wanted you to put a ring on it, would I have waited this long? I get it's messy with you and Samantha, and I've never asked you to ditch her. At my age, I ain't about to force anything."
Ethan yanked her back into his arms. "Beatrice, you're always so chill. Don't worry, I won't let you go through crap."
Beatrice's eyes lit up. "Ethan, guess what? Blake's killing it at the company. I bumped into Mrs. Davis while shopping, and she spilled the tea."
"Really?" Ethan didn't look too hyped.
Beatrice sat up and asked carefully, "Still pissed at Blake?"
She let out a big sigh. "Ethan, I'm not making excuses for Blake, but sometimes he's been dealt a bad hand. It's on me that he's had it rough."
"Beatrice, don't say that!" Ethan snapped, not happy.
Beatrice kept going, "To put it nicely, I'm your lover; bluntly, I'm your mistress. My kid's a love child. Who's gonna care? Ethan, cut Blake some slack for all he's been through. He knows he screwed up. He was just lost."
As she talked, Beatrice's eyes got all teary. "Even though he hurt Alexander, Blake's been your shadow since he was a kid. You two are tight. How could he mean harm? There's gotta be something in Aetherland we don't know about!"
She wiped her tears. "Let's drop the past. Blake's moved on. Sure, he's got his flaws too. We've stuck with you for years. We might not have done much, but we've been through a lot. Can you really not forgive him?"
Ethan couldn't stand seeing Beatrice cry. Her words melted the hardness from his face and his heart. He said gently, "You're right. We're tight. You think I'm not hurting? These past few months, every time he shows up, I see he's lost weight, and it kills me."
Beatrice smiled a bit and teased, "Now that we're living together, you can patch things up. I believe it'll be like old times."
Ethan slapped his thigh in frustration. "He's a good guy. I can't believe he'd do something like that."
"Exactly, no one knows him better than you." Beatrice cried happy tears and hugged Ethan.
Ethan patted her shoulder. "Tell him to come to the study. I need to talk to him."
"Okay, you haven't talked to Blake in a while. Have a good chat. I'll make some tea for you." Beatrice happily left the bedroom.
Ethan's smile faded to a cold look, and his eyes got a sharp glint after Beatrice left.
Lillian was in the room helping Luke with his homework when a servant knocked on the door and respectfully said, "Mrs. Linda Sinclair wants to see you in the hall."
"Got it," Lillian replied, then said to Luke, "Be good and finish your homework. I'll check it when I get back."
She went to the hall and saw Beatrice and Rena there, feeling a bit uneasy, not knowing what was up.
"Come on over, Lillian," Linda waved her over with a smile. "I found a top-notch doc and got some meds to help with your pregnancy. Drink up."
Lillian eyed the half bowl of medicine on the coffee table and instinctively glanced at Rena.
Rena got the hint and smiled. "I'm further along, so I don't need it."
Lillian reluctantly drank the medicine. "Thanks, Grandma."
"Good girl. Down it in one go," Linda said, still smiling.
Beatrice, looking a bit envious, chimed in, "Lillian, Mrs. Linda Sinclair really dotes on you. You gotta do your best and give the Sinclair family a son."
"Beatrice, I can't control if it's a boy or a girl," Lillian said with an awkward smile.
Linda added, "Whether Lillian has a boy or a girl, I'll love it. No need to stress over a son."
Beatrice quickly nodded, "Mom's right. Boy or girl, they're the Sinclair family's treasure."
Lillian sat beside them, smiling, but turned away, not wanting to look at Beatrice's fake face.
After a bit, she said to Linda, "Grandma, Luke's still doing his homework. I need to keep an eye on him, or he'll get distracted."
Linda agreed, "Alright, go ahead. Make sure to hit the sack early and don't stay up playing on your phone."
Lillian replied, "Alexander keeps tabs on me, so I can't play even if I wanted to."
Meanwhile, Alexander was at the hospital, breaking the news to Oscar about the postponed surgery. As expected, Oscar was chill and said, "Then we'll just wait."
But Emily was fuming. "Not coming? Doctors need to have some professional ethics. How can they ditch a patient needing surgery for personal stuff? It's too much!"
"Shut up, or get out," Oscar snapped irritably.
Emily bit back her anger, lowered her head, and walked out. "You two talk, I'll wait outside."
Alexander chuckled. "You're getting bold."
"I just hope she can't stand it and bails soon. She fired the nurse without asking me, making it a pain for me to go to the bathroom," Oscar grumbled.
Alexander said, "Lillian thinks you should take a break from school and stay home. I'll pick you up tomorrow. Lillian and I will be at Sinclair Villa for a few days. Melvin and Kelly will take good care of you."
"Really?" Oscar's face lit up. "Finally, no more Emily."
Alexander smiled, didn't say much, chatted with him for a bit, and then left.
Lillian and Luke were lying in bed chatting when a Facebook notification popped up. She opened it and saw a message from Caspian in the group.
Caspian: [Hey everyone, don't forget to come to my engagement cancellation party on April 1st.]
She saw everyone in the group replying, so she joined in. Amusingly, Evelyn also replied: [I'm the main character. I won't forget.]
Caspian coldly stared at Evelyn's message on his phone, stayed silent for a long time, and finally, in a fit of rage, hurled his phone to the ground.
