Chapter 418 Tom's Interrogation

Caspian was shocked when he heard this and looked at Tom, saying, "What are you talking about? Wendy is my friend. Can't I stand up for her?"

Tom pouted and looked at Alexander, who was searching for information on a distant bookshelf, and said to him, "Alexander, did you hear that? I want to ask, Wendy is also your friend, so why don't you stand up for her? Is it because you don't like her?"

Alexander shrugged and smiled, "I have a wife. How could I like someone else? I'm also angry about what happened to Wendy, but I never thought of doing anything about it."

Tom spread his hands to Caspian and said, "See, we're all angry, but you're the one who's the most furious! By the way, was it you who arranged for Aaron to be replaced in that new movie he was shooting? And a few endorsement deals were also suddenly taken away from him."

Caspian rolled his eyes at him and said, "I just wanted to give him a punishment! Not just anyone can be bullied by him!"

"Your punishment comes at quite a cost," Tom said, clicking his tongue. "Wendy is lucky to have a friend like you."

He deliberately emphasized the word "friend."

Alexander walked over, pushed Tom out of his seat, and said to Caspian, "I think you like her but don't realize it."

"It's not like that. Why don't you two believe me? Alexander, you know I've always had a good relationship with Wendy. I just see her as a sister," Caspian explained helplessly.

Tom suddenly slapped his thigh, "I just remembered, that time we had dinner at Alexander's house, Angela said you and Wendy had something going on. What was it? You never said. Do you like her? Or does she like you? I remember clearly when I tried to introduce a boyfriend to Wendy, you were the only one who disagreed and had so much to say. Now tell me the truth, what's going on?"

Caspian was annoyed by Tom's interrogation, "Get lost! Hurry up and go, don't keep Wendy waiting."

"You really can't stop talking about Wendy, can you?" Tom said. "I think Alexander is right, you like her but don't realize it."

After Tom left, Caspian said unhappily, "Why is he so annoying?"

"Is this your first day knowing him?" Alexander said, looking at the document in his hand. "But Tom asked what I also want to know. Have you fallen in love with Wendy?"

"Why are you just like him?" Caspian said, exasperated. "If you keep this up, I'm leaving."

Alexander chuckled and said, "Alright, let me ask you another way. You helped the Phillips family with such a big favor. Was it to make a good impression on Evelyn and reconcile with her? Or was it just a simple act of friendship?"

Caspian pondered for a moment and then said seriously, "I don't love Evelyn anymore and never thought about reconciling. Helping her was purely because of our friendship. If there's anything I wish for her, it's that she finds a good man and lives a happy life."

"It's funny when it comes to friends in trouble, your attitude is different," Alexander said with a teasing look. "Think about it, am I right?"

"It's all the same. Amos ran away, but when I catch him, I won't let him off," Caspian said.

Alexander sighed and continued looking at his document, "Alright, I'll just stay here and listen to your excuses."

Caspian sneered, appearing indifferent, but he also felt something was off inside.

At the most luxurious restaurant in Ridgewood, Wendy was led to her seat by the waiter, who gently pulled out the chair for her. She smiled and thanked him, ordered a glass of ice water, and waited for Tom.

Tom arrived quickly, walked briskly over, sat across from her, and greeted her with a smile, "Wendy, I'm not late, am I?"

"I just got here too," Wendy said softly. "This restaurant you picked is too fancy; I'm not used to it. You could have just treated me to some Mexican food."

Tom called the waiter over and said, "Choosing this place shows my sincerity."

"What do you like to eat?" Tom asked, sliding through the menu on his tablet.

"I'm not picky; anything is fine."

Tom said, "Then I'll order according to my taste." He said this while placing the order.

"Wendy, I'm sorry about introducing you to that boyfriend. I never thought it would turn out like this. That Aaron, I never noticed he was gay. Anyway, it's all my fault."

Wendy, who had been holding a bit of a grudge against him, was moved by his words and quickly said, "Tom, don't say that. You didn't know either, so I don't blame you. Fortunately, I wasn't deceived, just wasted some feelings. It's no big deal."

Tom smiled and praised her, "Wendy, you're a generous and good girl. Next time I introduce you to a boyfriend, I won't be so hasty. I'll make sure I know him well!"

"What?" Wendy was surprised. "You still want to introduce me to someone? There's no need. I'm focusing on my career now. As for a boyfriend, go with the flow."

"No way!" Tom said seriously. "I have to make up for my mistake and introduce you to a perfect match!"

Just then, the waiter brought the food, and Wendy, feeling awkward, quickly said, "Let's eat first and talk while we eat."

Tom cut his steak, glanced at her, and with a mischievous smile, said, "Wendy, how about I introduce you to Caspian? What do you think?"

Wendy had just taken a sip of water and spat it all out upon hearing this.

"Sorry!" Wendy quickly grabbed a napkin and leaned over to wipe Tom's face.

The amount of water was considerable, and it hit the mark, wetting his face and even his hair.

Tom closed his eyes deeply, then slowly opened them, took the napkin from Wendy, and continued wiping his face.

The waiter came over and handed him a clean towel.

"Take all this away and bring a new set," Tom said, taking a deep breath. Then he said to Wendy, "I'm going to the restroom."

Wendy's face was red with embarrassment. 'Why did I react so strongly? I could have just said no.' She lightly patted her cheeks with both hands, blaming herself for being impulsive.

Tom quickly returned from the restroom and joked, "Were you a whale in your past life?"

"Sorry, I lost my composure," she said, embarrassed.

Tom said, "It's okay. Let's continue our previous conversation. Why did you react so strongly when I mentioned Caspian?"

Wendy sneered and said, "Tom, stop teasing me. Everyone knows Caspian likes Evelyn. Introducing him to me is a joke, right? He wouldn't agree either."

"What?" Tom raised an eyebrow. "So, if he agreed, you wouldn't object? You like him, don't you?"
