Chapter 81 Despair
Lillian heard Luke's loud voice and smiled, "I'm almost done. Maybe three or four days, and then I'll be back."
"Ah... another three to four days? I'm already starting to miss you and Uncle Alexander!" Luke said disappointedly.
"Cheer up, it's Christmas today. Why didn't you go home and celebrate Christmas with your parents?" Lillian asked curiously.
"My dad went to grandpa's house, and my mom went to grandma's house. They don't like me, so I didn't go celebrate Christmas with them," Luke replied flatly. Although Luke was young, he was mature in his thinking.
Lillian didn't want Luke to be sad on such an important holiday, so she told him, "Then let's celebrate Christmas at Uncle Alexander's house. We all really like you."
"Lillian, why is it so noisy over there? What are you doing?" Luke asked.
"We're watching a musical and fireworks. It's quite lively." Lillian switched to video call and showed him, "Look, they're performing a musical!"
Luke and Oscar crowded in front of the phone, "Lillian, we want to see you, not the musical!"
Lillian laughed and turned the camera towards herself, "See, don't you all miss me?"
Luke saw Lillian and started talking to her incessantly, to the point that Oscar couldn't say a word. Lillian listened and responded until Luke finished talking before handing the phone to Oscar.
"Now it's my turn," Oscar looked at Lillian on the phone and said, "Where's Alexander? I've been sending him messages on WhatsApp these past few days, but he hasn't replied much."
"He's still drinking," Lillian said and subconsciously glanced towards the main building.
"Oh, by the way, Lillian, Leo has been discharged from the hospital," Oscar said.
"Has he been discharged? Did the doctor agree?" Lillian asked.
"I'm not too sure about the details. Alexander sent me a message on WhatsApp that day, mentioning Leo, and that's how I found out he had been discharged."
Lillian nodded, "Alright, he's an adult. He should know how to handle things properly."
They chatted about other things on the phone for a while before ending the call.
The fireworks had already ended, but the smoke was still drifting in the sky. Lillian turned and walked towards the main building. The banquet was also coming to an end. Alexander was already drunk, and sat there with a vacant expression.
"Where have you been?" Samantha walked over and asked, "Alexander is drunk. You should take him back first."
"Samantha, what about you? Aren't you coming back with us?" Lillian asked.
"I'll play cards with the others. When you get back, instruct the servant to make a bowl of chicken soup for Alexander to drink." Samantha said.
"I understand," Lillian replied.
Lillian called for Melvin and helped Alexander out, escorting him all the way back to the room. Lillian was afraid that Alexander would kiss her after drinking, so she came out after taking him to the room. She went to the kitchen and told the servant to prepare chicken soup, then stayed in the small living room.
After more than half an hour, the servant brought the chicken soup. “Mrs. Sinclair, the chicken soup is ready."
Lillian took the soup and said to the servant, "I'll take care of Alexander. You can go."
Alexander lay on the bed, breathing unevenly, still mumbling something.
"Alexander, get up and drink some chicken soup." Lillian sat by his bedside, helping him stand and placing the bowl by his mouth. Alexander lowered his head, finished all the soup, and then lay back on the bed heavily.
Lillian put the bowl aside and then helped him take off his shoes and socks. After hesitating for a moment, she walked to the bathroom, wet a towel, and wiped his face and hands.
After finishing everything, Lillian considered whether to leave the room. She thought to herself, 'He had a lot to drink. What if he wants to vomit? What if he wants some water? He seems quite obedient today, not even waking up when she wiped his face. Hopefully, what happened that day won't happen again.'
Lillian decided to stay and take care of him. She didn't lie on the same bed as Alexander. Instead, she sat on the sofa.
After a while, Lillian started feeling drowsy. Suddenly, she heard some sounds coming from the bed where Alexander lay. She thought he wanted to vomit or drink water, so she walked over to check on him.
"Alexander, do you want some water?" Lillian bent down and whispered.
"It's too hot!" Alexander's voice was hoarse, and he said it irritably.
The blanket was long gone, and he was wearing casual pants and a shirt, but Lillian found it embarrassing to undress him.
"I'll turn down the air conditioning a bit, and you can have some more water," Lillian told him.
Alexander tugged at his collar, panting heavily, with a distressed expression. The proximity of Lillian's breath seemed to intoxicate him, causing him to move closer involuntarily.
"Alexander, what are you doing?!" Lillian felt scared when he grabbed her hand. She forcefully pulled her hand back.
In the struggle, Alexander began to regain some clarity. He looked at Lillian and sensed an unusual warmth in his body, immediately understanding what had happened!
"What did you make me drink?" He looked at the empty bowl on the table and asked coldly.
"The chicken soup," Lillian replied. She saw his bloodshot eyes and painful expression, as if he were trying to endure something. Lillian asked confusingly, "Alexander, what's wrong with you?"
Feeling the power of alcohol and the effects of medication, Alexander felt extremely uncomfortable. He slowly sat up and staggered towards the bathroom.
Lillian thought Alexander had only gone to the restroom, but after a while, she heard the sound of running water from inside.
"You've had too much to drink. Don't take a bath," Lillian reminded him from outside.
"Get out! Don't let me see you!" Alexander shouted angrily at Lillian from the bathroom.
"What are you doing? I'm trying to help you!" Lillian also became angry and shouted back through the door, "Why don't you know how to be grateful? If anything happens to you in there, what should I do? Your mom won't forgive me!"
"Lillian, this is your last chance. Get out now! Hurry! Otherwise, you'll regret it!" Alexander yelled back.
"Then you come out, and I'll leave," Lillian said to him.
Silence filled the bathroom. Lillian called Alexander several times from outside and knocked on the door twice. "Alexander, are you speaking? Are you passed out? Are you coming out or not?"
Suddenly, the bathroom door opened, and a strong arm reached out and ruthlessly dragged Lillian into the bathroom.
"Ah! Alexander! What are you doing?"
"Stop! Let go of me!
"Alexander, please, don't treat me like this," Lillian shouted.
In the bathroom, Lillian's crying and pleading were useless to Alexander. This night was destined to be unforgettable for her.
When Lillian woke up again, it was already noon. She felt pain all over her body. Last night, she was tossed around heavily, not remembering the details, but she only remembered that her strength was exhausted, and she passed out in the end.
Alexander had already left, but the room still had the lingering atmosphere from last night, making Lillian feel disgusted. The humiliating scene from last night replayed in her mind.
Lillian hugged her blanket and cried painfully in heartbreak and despair.
