Chapter 138 Why Are You So Nervous
Emily scoffed disdainfully. "Just him!"
After speaking, she turned to look again. Coincidentally, Oscar also looked over. Their eyes met, both filled with anger. They then turned away.
Lillian took a few photos—some of the food, some of the scenery, and a family photo—and posted them on Facebook. She quickly got many likes and comments.
Caspian leaned lazily on the sofa in Alexander's office, scrolling through his phone, and said, "Mr. Sinclair, how long until you take a break? I'm starving."
"Leave if you can't wait," Alexander replied, frowning at his computer, deep in thought.
Caspian had argued with Evelyn and came here hoping to have a meal and chat with Alexander. But once Alexander got busy, he lost track of time, so Caspian had to wait.
He looked down at his phone and suddenly smiled and asked, "Alexander, did Lillian go out to have fun?"
"No, she didn’t," Alexander replied indifferently.
Caspian swiped through the pictures and said, "Lillian went out with Kelly, Melvin, and Luke. There's also a guy here. Who is he? He seems quite close to Lillian."
Alexander's typing abruptly stopped, and he said irritably, "Let me have a look!"
But Caspian smirked and said, "No, you should focus on your work."
He continued looking at his phone and said, "It looks like they went for a picnic. With lots of good food, they seem to be having a great time. This guy seems pretty close to Lillian. They're both smiling so happily!"
Alexander couldn't take it anymore. He quickly stood up, strode over, and snatched the phone. Upon seeing Oscar in the photo, he helplessly tossed the phone back and said, "That's Lily's brother."
Caspian laughed. "I could tell by the looks. Why are you so nervous?"
"Shut up!" Alexander didn't know what was wrong with him. Hearing there was a man, he actually thought it might be Leo. That was impossible. It had to be Oscar. Why was he so nervous?
"Just admit you care about Lillian," Caspian smirked and sighed. "I haven't seen you care about someone like this in a long time."
Alexander shot him a sharp look. "Shut up!"
Caspian walked over, patted his shoulder, and said earnestly, "Alexander, you've aged. It would help if you located a life partner. Since Lillian and you live together, feelings are welcome. Lillian is good-natured and your legal wife. Stop being choosy."
"If you have time to worry about me, prioritize yourself. Evelyn may want to end your engagement!" Alexander retorted bluntly.
Caspian turned to the floor-to-ceiling window and said despairingly, "I've been prepared for that. Because I can't find happiness, I hope you can! Alexander, remembering Amy is enough."
Hearing Amy's name, Alexander was momentarily lost in thought.
"Enough, stop disgusting me," Alexander said, shutting down his computer and grabbing his coat. "Let's go eat and shut your mouth!"
Caspian laughed. "I've guessed your true feelings. Actually, you've already fallen for Lillian."
Alexander said nothing, gave him a fierce glare, and left the office.
They ate their meal quickly. As they left the restaurant, Caspian checked the time and said, "It's still early. Why don't you head to the countryside? I haven't seen Lillian in a while."
Alexander walked towards his car and said, "Go ahead. I'm going home."
"Aren't you going to give me a ride?" Caspian asked.
"Take a cab back yourself." Alexander drove forward and soon reached the countryside. He parked near the meadow, thought, and got out of the car.
Oscar was flying a kite with Luke in an open area. Kelly and Melvin were playing on their phones with reading glasses on. Lillian was lying in a hammock tied to a tree, looking like she was about to fall asleep.
"Aren't you afraid of falling asleep and tumbling out?" Suddenly, Michael's voice sounded above her, teasing.
Lillian half-closed her eyes and said, "This place is loud and sunny. I won't fall asleep."
Michael casually patted the tree trunk. "You're right. This isn't your backyard."
Lillian slowly sat up and asked, "Is Emily still mad?"
"She's not mad anymore. I know today's incident wasn't Oscar's fault. It's just Emily being unreasonable."
"It's normal for girls to be a bit unreasonable," Lillian said.
Alexander entered from outside, wandering the meadow. He saw Oscar and Luke sail a kite from afar, and then he saw Kelly across the yard.
He walked towards Oscar, but before he got close, Luke saw him and ran over with open arms.
"Uncle Alexander!" The little guy happily threw himself into his arms.
Oscar saw him too and was delighted, holding up the kite string. "Alexander, what brings you here? Lillian said you were busy, so I didn't dare disturb you. Did you finish your work and come over?"
'Saying I'm busy and not inviting me to family activities. Lillian, you actually excluded me!' Alexander thought.
"Where are Kelly and Melvin?" Alexander asked.
"They're over there." Luke led him towards the lawn.
Michael said, "I spoiled Emily. Our parents rarely visit, and I'm usually working. I feel guilty and pamper her when I can. She's grown unlikable."
Lillian said, "I understand. Rich girls are often like that." Realizing her words might be inappropriate, she quickly added, "Michael, I didn't mean anything bad about Emily."
"I get it. Anyway, I apologized to Oscar on Emily’s behalf. Oscar seems like an honest and upright kid."
Without expecting Michael to apologize, Lillian rose, but her legs gave out, and she couldn't stand. Michael held her shoulders and worriedly asked, "Are you okay?"
Lillian stood up straight, waved her hand at him apologetically, and said with a wry smile, "I'm fine. I probably lay in the hammock too long, and my legs went numb."
As she finished speaking, she suddenly felt a piercing gaze from the side. She shivered and slowly turned to see Alexander standing with his hands in his pockets, looking at them with great interest.
