Chapter 284 Eating Barbecue Together

Wendy went to the restaurant and saw that breakfast was already laid out on the table. Caspian was eating breakfast, and when he saw her coming, he waved her over to sit across from him and said, "I asked the cook to make you some cereal. I remember you love drinking porridge."

Wendy ate slowly and said, "Why are you up so early? I thought you were still sleeping."

"To take you to work. I wouldn't dare let you be late." Caspian teased, "Hurry up and eat."

While thanking him, Wendy also felt a bit embarrassed and said, "After I finish working overtime today, I'll treat you to dinner."

"How about barbecue? Last time at your place, the sauce you made was delicious. After work today, let's go to the supermarket, buy some ingredients, and have a barbecue at your place," Caspian said, wiping his mouth after finishing his meal.

Wendy said, "That works. After all, eating at home is always more hygienic than eating out. My dad called yesterday and said he'll be back at the end of the month, so you won't be able to come over to my place much after that."

"Your parents are coming back soon? Then I want to stay a few more days. I won't have the chance later. I won't be able to see Molly whenever I want," Caspian joked.

Wendy smiled speechlessly, "Molly hates you. Don't you know that?"

"It told you that?" Caspian said, "It likes me a lot."

Wendy snickered but silently admitted to herself that with more interaction recently, Molly had indeed become quite familiar with him.

They drove back, and the car went all the way to the studio.

After parking at the entrance, Caspian said, "Call me when you're almost done, and I'll come pick you up."

"Okay, bye." Wendy got out of the car.

Coincidentally, as she got out of the car, the first person she saw was Roy, who gave her a disapproving look and quickly walked into the studio. The second person she saw was Evelyn getting out of her car. Their eyes met, and Wendy smiled awkwardly.

Walking side by side to the studio, Evelyn said, "Suddenly being called in to work overtime, did it ruin your date plans?"

"Yeah, I went to Mr. Sinclair's beach house yesterday and hadn't had enough fun when I got your call. I rushed back early this morning," Wendy said, using a playful tone to cover her embarrassment. "Ms. Phillips, you owe me compensation after we're done."

Evelyn said, "No problem. Once this deal is done, I'll give you a long vacation."

Working overtime on the weekend, Wendy thought she just needed to revise the plan, but who knew it would drag on until after 4 PM? During this time, Caspian sent several messages on Facebook, and his tone was increasingly impatient.

Finally, it was time to clock out. She quickly packed her things and left the studio. At the entrance, Caspian's car was parked there, and he was standing outside, casually smoking and occasionally looking at Amos, who was also standing there, waiting to pick up Evelyn.

"Let's go," Wendy said to him, about to open the car door and get in.

Amos looked provocatively at Caspian. Seeing him about to get in the car, he raised his hand and waved, asking, "Mr. Wade, Are you leaving right now? Evelyn and I are going to dinner later. Want to join us?"

Caspian's face darkened, his lips tightly pressed together as he gave Amos a disapproving look ignored him, and got in the car to leave.

Evelyn came out of the studio just in time to see this scene. She frowned slightly and got in the car with Amos.

Evelyn said, "Why did you call out to Caspian just now?"

Amos smiled and said, "I thought the fight last time was just a misunderstanding. I just wanted to smooth things over with Mr. Wade and also don't want to put you in a difficult position."

Evelyn said, "Caspian is a very proud person. Just greet him in the future, and don't provoke him."

"Evelyn, are you defending him?" Amos asked sullenly.

Evelyn said seriously, "I'm defending you, okay?"

Amos noticed that she didn't look well, he was afraid she'd get angry, so he quickly smiled ingratiatingly and said, "Oh, you were defending me. My mistake. I'll listen to you and won't talk to him much in the future."

In Caspian's car, Wendy stole a glance at his stern face, then took candy from her bag, unwrapped it, and held it up to his mouth, saying, "Have something sweet, and you'll feel better."

Caspian looked down, obediently opened his mouth, and Wendy put the candy in.

"Who does he think he is!" Caspian finally spoke after a long silence, cursing with the candy in his mouth, his words muffled and his anger much diminished.

"Why are you getting worked up over him? The angrier you get, the happier he becomes," Wendy advised. "Ignoring someone like him is the best choice. If he can't show off in front of you, he'll be the one feeling bad."

"Don't be mad. It'll ruin your mood. I'll buy you more meat later. Eating meat will make you feel better," she coaxed.

Caspian's stern face softened a lot, and he said, "Molly's dog food is almost out. Don't forget to buy some."

They parked in the supermarket's underground garage and took the elevator upstairs. Like a couple, they pushed a shopping cart and picked out items.

Wendy said, "I haven't been to a supermarket in a long time. Sometimes when I want to buy something, I just order it on my phone."

Caspian picked up some snacks from the shelf and tossed them into the cart without looking, saying, "Really? I come here all the time."

"You? Shopping?" Wendy asked in surprise.

Caspian laughed, "No. My family owns this supermarket. I come here to work."

"Really?" Wendy's mouth opened wide in surprise. "You work here?" She pointed to the items in the cart and asked with a grin, "In that case, do we not have to pay for these?"

"Today, I'll fulfill your childhood dream. Take whatever you want!" Caspian said grandly.

"You're the best!" Wendy shouted happily.

Even though he said that Wendy only bought the meat and vegetables for dinner, some snacks, beer, and Molly's dog food. Carrying the bags, she followed Caspian out through another door.

Back home, Molly happily jumped on Caspian, licking him enthusiastically, which made Wendy a bit jealous.

"Molly, don't you see me?" she called out unhappily.

Molly panted with its tongue out, still snuggling in Caspian's arms.

They took the items to the kitchen, one washing vegetables, the other setting up the grill, making preparations. Once everything was ready, they sat at the coffee table and opened the beer.

The beef on the grill sizzled and smelled delicious, making Molly circle in anticipation. Wendy pushed its head away, raised her beer, and said to Caspian, "Caspian, let me toast to you first to show my gratitude."

Caspian said, "No need to be so polite. It's my pleasure."

They exchanged polite pleasantries.

Wendy took a sip of beer, picked up the tongs to turn the meat on the grill, and put the cooked pieces on his small plate, sighing, "Caspian, I never imagined that we could sit together, drink beer, eat meat, and become friends. In the past, you were just a douchebag in my eyes!"
