Chapter 299 Lillian Goes to See the Baby
Lillian bent over and slowly walked around the hospital room, listening to Wendy's laughter, and finally climbed onto the bed.
The three of them hadn't gathered together for a long time, so when they finally met, they had a lot to chat about.
"Why haven't I seen your husband?" Angela asked curiously.
Lillian said, "He went to the company early this morning. He's been quite busy lately."
"Did he celebrate your birthday yesterday after you gave birth? Even just a simple celebration?" Angela asked again.
Lillian laughed and said, "I have something to tell you that will surprise you!"
"What? Tell us, I want to hear!" Wendy said eagerly.
Lillian slowly told them "Shae is Amy." After hearing it, both of them were indeed shocked, their mouths slightly open and unable to speak.
"What about Alexander? What did he say?" Angela asked.
Lillian said with a bit of pride, "He told Amy that the one he loves is me, and he can't be with her."
"Mr. Sinclair is quite devoted!" Wendy praised.
"He's fine," Lillian thought back to when Alexander undressed Amy to check her birthmark, feeling a bit unhappy again.
After Lillian finished her story, Wendy shared her recent situation.
"My parents found out that I quit my job!" She spread her hands, her face full of helplessness as she recounted what had happened.
Lillian and Angela, both surprised, asked in unison, "What? You said you're dating Caspian?"
"I was just so angry. I'm an adult, but they still control me. I've had enough!" Wendy frowned and added, "Anyway, it's fake. As long as Caspian and I know, it's fine."
Angela said, "Quitting your job, they were bound to find out sooner or later. But you lied to them about being in a relationship with Caspian, your parents believed it. What if they agree to you being together in the future? What will you do then?"
Lillian also said, "That's right. If you want to be with Caspian, I won't agree!"
Wendy pouted and furrowed her brows, muttering to herself, "My parents are so against it now, they probably won't agree in the future either, right?"
"Who knows? You can't just ignore it," Angela said earnestly.
"I feel like they definitely won't agree. Don't worry about it," Wendy said nonchalantly, waving her hand, then added with frustration, "I'm just worried about my job now. My mom is always losing her temper with me, constantly pushing me to quit my job, and even threatening to make a fuss at the studio. I'm so distressed that I want to run away from home."
"I think moving out now wouldn't be a bad thing," Angela said. "Wendy, you need to be independent. Otherwise, your parents will still treat you like a child."
Lillian disagreed, "If you move out, won't that make the relationship even more strained? Is that a good idea?"
Angela shrugged indifferently, "It's up to her."
Lillian said worriedly, "Wendy, I believe you have your ideas about work. But as for relationships, I hope you can be rational. I'm not trying to control you, just giving a suggestion."
Wendy said, "I know, you guys are just looking out for me."
As they were chatting, Alexander came in, followed by Caspian and Theodore.
"Congratulations, Lillian, on a smooth delivery," Theodore said with a smile, handing her a gift.
"And mine too," Caspian quickly followed, presenting his gift. "Congratulations, Lily, on becoming a mother."
Alexander said discontentedly, "You can't call her Lily. Either call her Lillian or Mrs. Sinclair, but don't use her nicknames."
"Alright then, I was just trying to be friendly," Caspian said, feeling a bit exasperated by Alexander's concern over a name, and sat next to Wendy.
"The chef will be here soon. Are you hungry?" Alexander asked considerately.
Lillian said, "I'm okay. Did you visit the babies today?"
Alexander said, "I went to see them this morning, and just now I took them to see the babies again. The babies are doing well in the incubator, so you don't need to worry."
Lillian said, "I want to see them later. The nurse said I should get out of bed and move around."
On the other side, Caspian and Wendy were chatting softly.
"How have you been these past few days? You haven't complained to me on Facebook," Caspian teased.
Wendy, with a pained expression, pouted and said, "It's the same, my mom keeps nagging me all the time about changing jobs and boyfriends. She drives me crazy with her talk. I didn't message you because I didn't want to bother you and disrupt your life."
Caspian said casually, "It's no big deal. I have plenty of time every day. If you're feeling down, just tell me, and I'll help you out."
"That's so nice of you, not like you at all," Wendy joked.
"What do you mean? I've always been a considerate person!" Caspian lightly tapped her head with his fist.
At noon, they didn't go out to eat. The chef brought lunch. They chatted and laughed in the hospital room, enjoying their meal.
After lunch, Wendy checked the time and realized she had to go back to work in the afternoon. She said to Lillian, "Lillian, I have to go now. I'll come to visit you another day. Also, Angela and I haven't seen the babies yet. We need to see them before we leave."
"Let's go together. I haven't seen the babies yet either," Lillian said, slowly getting out of bed.
Seeing her pained expression, Alexander said with concern, "Honey, let me carry you."
"Is it far? If it's not far, I can walk. It just hurts so much, honey, it hurts," she cried out in pain.
Wendy and Caspian laughed in unison, "Lillian, you're so funny."
Alexander took them to the observation room. Standing outside the glass window, Lillian pressed her hands against the window, her eyes filled with longing as she looked inside. The two babies were lying in the incubator, sleeping.
Her heart suddenly softened, and tears filled her eyes.
"Babies," she choked up, full of heartache, "it's all my fault, making you suffer."
Alexander put his arm around her shoulder and comforted her, "Don't cry, it's okay. They'll be out soon."
Lillian leaned into his arms, looking at the babies together, "Look at how tiny they are. They're so small, I'm afraid to touch them. They didn't seem this small when looking at them on the phone."
Alexander said, "When they're out of the incubator, you can watch them grow up."
Wendy, seeing the babies, said excitedly, "They're so cute."
Angela, looking at the babies indifferently, said, "They are premature, they look a bit weak."
After seeing the babies, Wendy and Angela left the hospital. Theodore and Caspian also had things to do and they left as well. The once lively hospital room suddenly became quiet.
