Chapter 175 She Is My Girlfriend
Evelyn handed the phone to Alexander. "She's at the bar, sounds like she's drunk. Why's she acting like this all of a sudden?"
"I'll go check on her," Alexander said.
"I'm coming with you," Evelyn replied, standing up.
Caspian, clearly drunk, grabbed her arm. "Where are you going? I still have things to tell you!"
Evelyn rolled her eyes. "Haven't you had enough?"
"Stay here and take care of Caspian," Alexander said, leaving the table.
At the bar, Shae was holding a bottle, her fingers lightly tracing each one on the shelf. "This is what we bought in Aidamore, this is what I brought back from Simbara," she muttered.
Alexander walked in and saw her leaning against the liquor cabinet. "Why are you here drinking?" he scolded. "Do you know every bottle here is..."
"Part of your and Amy's collection," Shae interrupted, her eyes hazy. She sat down with a cold laugh. "I know every bottle here. Some we bought, some I gave you. Do you think I don't know them?"
Alexander frowned. "Shae, stop pretending to be Amy. You're not her!"
Shae leaned in close. "You say I'm not Amy? Take a good look at me."
"You're really drunk!" Alexander pushed her away, grabbed her arm, and started to walk out. "Go back to your room and sleep. I'll come find you tomorrow."
"What do you want to find me for?" Shae pouted, hugging his arm and squatting down. "Aren't you mad at me? I went to the bar with other guys, and you got mad. But there are girls bringing you lunch, did I say anything?"
Alexander looked at Shae, who was mumbling incoherently, and asked in exasperation, "Shae, what are you talking about? Why are you trying to sabotage Lily?"
Shae slumped on the floor, wrapped her arms around his, and rested her head on them, mumbling, "Who's Lily? I don't know a Lily. Alexander, you just don't understand me, not at all." Her voice trailed off into silence as she drifted off.
Alexander tried to shake her awake, calling out, "Shae, Shae!"
But there was no response. It seemed she had had too much to drink and passed out. With a resigned sigh, Alexander lifted her and carried her back to her room.
Back in the dining area, Caspian had his arms around Wendy, pulling her close, and yelled toward Evelyn, "See? I'm not the kind of guy who can't find a girlfriend. Don't think I'm dependent on you!"
Wendy was at her wit's end. She had come downstairs to get something and had been unexpectedly grabbed by Caspian, who was now flaunting their supposed relationship in front of Evelyn, her boss.
"Stop harassing Wendy and get your hands off her!" Evelyn shouted, trying to pry Caspian's arms away.
But Caspian's grip was like a vice around Wendy's shoulders. No matter how much Evelyn pulled, he wouldn't budge. He said stubbornly, "Mind your own business. We're not involved anymore, so you don't get a say."
Wendy, squeezed between them and clearly distressed, pleaded, "Mr. Wade, please let me go."
Caspian, however, seemed to enjoy the struggle. He wrapped his other arm around Wendy, pulling her even tighter. "You're my girlfriend now, and I'm not letting go!"
Fuming, Evelyn tried to give Caspian a shove on the head. "Have you no decency? Stop acting like a creep and let her go!"
Wendy was on the brink of tears, her voice trembling as she said, "Mr. Wade, please, I'm begging you. You're hurting me!"
She thought, 'Normally, Mr. Wade seems like a decent guy, but alcohol has turned him into this obnoxious mess.' Wendy glanced desperately at Evelyn for help.
Seeing Wendy's distress, Evelyn couldn't stand it anymore. She gave Caspian a swift kick, catching him off guard. The pain made Caspian double over, and he finally released Wendy.
Free from his grip, Wendy quickly scrambled away and took refuge behind Evelyn, looking visibly shaken.
"Evelyn, that was brutal! You really went for it!" Caspian howled. "Great, now you've broken something. You're responsible for this!"
Wendy, still anxious, patted Evelyn's shoulder and asked nervously, "Ms. Phillips, you didn't actually hurt Mr. Wade, did you? Maybe we should check on him."
"It's nothing, he's just faking it!" Evelyn snapped. "Why's his behavior so terrible when he's drunk?"
"It's all your fault!" Caspian shot back, glaring at her. "What about my injury? What are you going to do about it?"
"Not my problem!" Evelyn retorted, grabbing Wendy and storming off.
Once outside the dining area, Evelyn reassured Wendy, "Don't worry. Caspian's like this when he's had too much."
Wendy nodded, relieved, "As long as you're okay with it, that's what matters."
"I don't have any feelings for him, so it's not a big deal. It's you who shouldn't overthink it!" Evelyn said. "You should go upstairs and keep Lillian company. I'll go find Shae."
The night's gathering was a mix of laughter, tears, and chaos. By the time everyone settled down and went to bed, it was already past two in the morning.
Lillian and Alexander were in the master bedroom. Luke, who had been having a great time with Jackson, still came to find Alexander and Lillian when it was bedtime. After a quick shower, he climbed into their bed without a word.
The next morning, Lillian woke up at a reasonable hour. Shortly after, Alexander came in to get her for breakfast.
"How are you feeling? Any stomach issues?" he asked.
"No, I'm fine," she replied, heading to the bathroom.
Meanwhile, Alexander said, "I sent Kevin to Angela's clinic to pick up the medicine. You can take it as soon as he gets back."
"When are we leaving today?" she asked from the bathroom.
"Probably around noon. Caspian and the others are still out cold," Alexander said with a sigh.
Once Lillian had finished getting ready, they left the room together. In the dining area, Angela, Wendy, and Theodore were already up, while the rest were still asleep.
"Good morning, everyone!" Lillian greeted cheerfully.
Theodore waved sleepily, rubbing his eyes as he asked Alexander, "What time did Caspian and Tom finally stop making a ruckus last night? I had to give up and go to bed."
"Who knows? They just kept going on and on," Alexander said.
"By the way, where did Shae end up?" Theodore asked, looking puzzled. "Did she leave?"
"No, she ended up wandering down to the basement bar to drink," Alexander explained. "I found her later, and she'd had quite a bit. I took her back to her room."
