Chapter 266 Wendy's House Lost Power Again

Wendy stared at him blankly, not expecting him to be the one who came to help.

Caspian affectionately pinched her cheek and smiled. He asked, "What? Are you surprised to see me back all of a sudden?"

Wendy dumbly made a sound, "You're back."

Roy finished his apple and said with a fawning smile, "Isn't this Mr. Wade? What brings you to Wendy's house so late? Is there something going on?"

Caspian looked at him disdainfully, snorted through his nose, and said unhappily, "Do you have the right to question me? Plus, who said you could call her Wendy?"

Seeing Caspian's change in expression, Roy panicked a bit. Caspian's status still made him somewhat apprehensive.

"Mr. Wade, let's talk this out. I don't quite understand what you mean," Roy said, unwilling to accept that Wendy might be with Caspian, and asked with a stiff upper lip.

"If you don't understand, then don't ask. Leave," Wendy said, pushing him to get him out.

Caspian said fiercely, "I haven't even asked you yet. What do you want to say to Wendy? Tell me! Why are you hanging around Wendy's house so late at night instead of going home? What are you up to?"

"I'm not up to anything. It's just a personal matter. I won't bother you," Roy said nervously, his previous arrogance in front of Wendy disappearing instantly in front of Caspian.

"I hate people like you, who can't take rejection and cause trouble!" Caspian said disdainfully. "As a man, you should be more magnanimous. I'm warning you. Stay away from Wendy. If I catch you bothering her again, I'll break your legs!"

Roy was humiliated but didn't dare to speak out. He swallowed hard and said through gritted teeth, "Yes, Mr. Wade. I understand."

"Then, get lost!" Caspian shouted, then signaled to Larry and Craig with a glance.

They got the signal, grabbed one of Roy's arms each, and started walking him out.

Roy shouted in dissatisfaction, but no one paid him any attention. He was dragged out of the house, and Larry thoughtfully closed the door behind him.

Wendy finally relaxed, let out a long breath, and said to Caspian, "Thank you for coming to help."

"Why did you call Lillian instead of the police?" Caspian asked teasingly, sitting on the couch with his legs crossed, teasingly.

Wendy said, "If the police came with their sirens blaring in the middle of the night, wouldn't that announce to the whole neighborhood that something's wrong at my house? How would my parents be able to teach in peace?"

Caspian laughed and said, "Today is Melvin's birthday. We were all having dinner at the hotel. Alexander couldn't come, so Lillian sent me."

Wendy responded and thanked him again, "Thank you so much for coming all the way to help."

"I don't think he'll dare to bother you again. If he does, call me, and I'll take care of him," Caspian said, then sighed helplessly. "Evelyn's taste in people has always been terrible."

Wendy didn't say anything.

Caspian said, "Alright, the problem's solved. I'm leaving. Will you be okay tonight?"

"I'll be fine. It's no problem, the lights are on," Wendy said with a smile.

He nodded and said, "Then, go to bed early. I'm leaving."

Caspian left with his bodyguards, but before they could leave the neighborhood, the power was out again, and everything suddenly plunged into darkness.

He stood still, looked around, and said to Larry, "You two go back first. I'll go check on Wendy."

Just as he finished speaking, he heard Wendy's hysterical shout from behind, "Caspian! Caspian! Where are you? Caspian!"

In the old neighborhood, there were already few streetlights, and now it was pitch black. She was very scared and shouted.

"I'm here!" Caspian couldn't help but laugh at her frightened reaction and shouted back.

Not far away, Wendy followed the sound and saw his figure in the darkness, running towards him in big strides.

"Thank goodness you didn't go far," she said, excitedly grabbing his arm with a sobbing tone. "The power's out again!"

"I'm not blind. I can see that," Caspian said helplessly. "Did you come out to find me and ask me to stay with you?"

Wendy nodded heavily and pleaded, "Stay with me one more time, please."

Her hand accidentally touched his, and it was ice-cold. He was slightly moved and thought, 'Was her hand this cold because she was scared?'

"I'll make breakfast in the morning. I won't let you leave hungry again," Wendy offered, trying to get him to stay.

Caspian wasn't a heartless person; how could he leave Wendy, who was afraid of the dark, alone at home?

"You're too timid, scared of everything!" He tapped her forehead and said as they walked back. "Go to the store and buy me two cans of beer for the night."

"Okay, come with me to the store by the west gate," with the company, Wendy was no longer afraid and her tone became cheerful.

Larry and Craig were confused.

Larry asked, "What's going on with these two? Are they dating?"

Craig replied, "Doesn't seem like it. Mr. Wade didn't say anything."

Larry asked, "Did you see him pinch Wendy's cheek earlier?"

Craig replied, "Yeah, and I also noticed the gentle smile he gave her."

Larry said, "Looks like Mr. Wade has finally given up on Evelyn."

"Let's congratulate him!" They said in unison.

Wendy bought a bunch of snacks at the store and returned home with Caspian. In the rush during the power outage, she hadn't even locked the door.

Molly came out of the room to greet them, barking at Wendy.

"It's really unfortunate that Molly is your pet. Do you think it's fair to abandon it a second time?" Caspian asked sarcastically.

Wendy hugged Molly, gently soothing her and apologizing for it, feeling she had gone too far.

Caspian sat on the couch and asked, "How long is the power out this time? Does your house always have power outages?"

Wendy sat next to him and said, "The property management hasn't said anything. Who knows what's going on these past two days with the power outages? It never happened before."

"Alright," Caspian said, opening a can of beer.

Wendy opened a bag of chips, turned on her phone's flashlight, and looked over the clients she was going to visit the next day.

Caspian drank alone for a while, feeling bored, and handed a can to Wendy, saying, "Stop working. Have a drink with me."

Wendy saw her phone battery was halfway down and didn't dare waste it, so she put the documents aside. Taking the beer, she said, "I'm not good with alcohol."

"As long as you can drink, it's fine," he said, clinking his can with hers.

At some point, the moon quietly emerged from the clouds, filling the living room with silver moonlight that reflected on their faces.
