Chapter 227 Blake's Vicious Scheme
Shae glared at her phone, thinking, "What the hell made Alexander so ungrateful?" She grabbed her stuff and drove to the office.
At the entrance, the security guard stopped her. "Ms. Anderson, your stuff's all here. Management said you can't come in anymore."
"Who said that?" Shae snapped. "Do you know who I am? Mr. Sinclair is my sister's first love. He wouldn't bar me."
"We got the notice this morning. And don't forget, your sister used to be Mr. Sinclair's girlfriend," the guard replied.
Fuming, Shae pointed at them, too angry to speak, and stormed off.
"Don't you want your things?" the guard called after her.
"Throw them away!" Shae shouted.
As soon as she got in her car, she tried calling Taylor, but his phone was off.
"Where did she go?" she muttered, tossing her phone aside.
She stared at the company entrance, determined to wait for Alexander.
Meanwhile, Angela made a lavish breakfast for Lillian. They ate and watched a show in the dining room.
A news notification popped up. Angela was about to dismiss it but clicked on it instead.
"Alexander just announced your marriage," Angela said, surprised.
Lillian saw it too, feeling sweet but puzzled. "Why did he announce it? He never mentioned it before."
"To make it clear that he's married," Angela said with a smile.
Lillian smiled faintly, thinking the news was a bit exaggerated. She couldn't really feel happy.
"Look at this part. It says you two fell in love over time. Isn't that ironic?" Angela teased.
Lillian read it while eating slowly. "They can write whatever. Right now, I'm just worried about Oscar."
She put down her fork and called Alexander.
"Honey, has Oscar woken up?" she asked anxiously.
Alexander had barely slept last night. He had just dozed off in the hospital room when her call came through.
He sat up, rubbed his temples, and said hoarsely, "Not yet. Why are you up so early? Didn't you get more sleep?"
"Worried about Oscar, I couldn't sleep well. I just finished breakfast," Lillian said.
She then asked, "Why did you suddenly announce our marriage? I wasn't prepared for it."
Alexander's soft laugh came, but he didn't answer her question. Instead, he said, "Don't worry, Oscar will be fine. He'll wake up today for sure."
"Alright, I won't worry or overthink. I'll just wait for your news," Lillian said sensibly.
After ending the call, Angela said, "That's right. Now, take your prenatal medicine and go lie down."
Lillian asked, "Will taking too much prenatal medicine affect the baby?"
Angela explained, "Don't worry. I prescribed mild supplements. It won't affect the baby."
Beatrice's family of three also saw the marriage announcement during breakfast.
Blake sneered. "What's Alexander's deal, announcing the marriage now?"
Rena replied, "He's just letting everyone know he's off the market, telling those women to back off."
Beatrice glanced at it indifferently and asked about Oscar's condition.
"Still in a coma. He'll probably die!" Blake said confidently.
Beatrice glared at him. "The person you hired never fails. How did they mess up with Oscar?"
"Just missed by 0.08 inches. No one could have predicted that," Blake defended. "Mom, don't worry. I won't let him last 48 hours. I'll make sure he doesn't survive!"
Beatrice frowned and stopped him. "No. Alexander already has his doubts about us but doesn't have any proof. We need to lay low. If this reaches Mr. Sinclair Senior, we're done for."
Blake said, "Mom, we don't have to do it ourselves. We have people in the hospital."
Beatrice said, "They can't be trusted. They might switch sides for their benefit. We can't risk it."
"Mom, what if he wakes up? All our efforts will be in vain. If Alexander finds out, we'll lose everything," Blake said.
"We can't take that risk!" Beatrice said sternly. "If we fail this time, we'll have other chances. But if Alexander catches us, we're doomed."
Blake lowered his eyes in thought. He didn't agree with Beatrice. Eager to prove himself, he had his plans.
Melvin dropped Luke off at school in the morning and then brought some clean clothes for Alexander. After getting ready, he went to Oscar's room.
"Michael, you and Emily should go home. You've been up all night and must be exhausted," Alexander said to Michael.
Emily had been amazing, staying up all night watching Oscar closely, allowing Kelly to rest.
Michael, feeling sorry for Emily, suggested, "Let's go home, take a shower, and get some sleep. You can come back in the afternoon."
"I don't want to! I want to be here when he wakes up!" Emily stubbornly said.
Michael couldn't stay today, so he said, "Fine, you stay here. I'm leaving."
"Okay, be careful. Bye," Emily replied dismissively without looking back.
Alexander said to Michael, "Let's go downstairs for breakfast."
In a parking spot in front of the Whale Group building, Shae frowned, recalling recent events. She couldn't figure out what went wrong. She even called the janitor who had spilled water earlier, but nothing seemed unusual. She concluded the problem must be with Taylor since she couldn't get hold of her for such a long time.
'She must have done something behind my back!' Shae thought angrily, scrolling through her contacts, trying to use all her connections to uncover the truth.
Kevin drove past Shae's car and stopped at the entrance.
"Kevin, did you take care of things at the hospital?" Alexander inquired.
Kevin replied, "No problem, Mr. Sinclair."
